Title: You're a noble, but what are you by day/night?
Post by: songqu88@gmail.com on April 06, 2011, 07:58:20 PM
Like the superhero who is a relatively unremarkable citizen by day but an ally of justice by night, we are all (at least most of us are) nobles in the world of BM. But outside the world, what do we do as members of society? I'm not looking for any major details about your personal lives, just basics of whatever you'd like to share about your professional life, all public information only, please.

I am still a student, though I've been working around as a lab/research assistant for several years now. I do biochemical research, and up until 2010, my area of focus has been in environmental health and toxicology. That's at least what I get paid to do.

For the unpaid stuff, I am a volunteer EMT for my town, manning the 12-hour day shift on Saturdays. I also draw sub-quality comics that so far are only passed among my friends so the more artistically inclined ones can provide me some tips for better success.

I graduated from college last May with a degree in History. Most of my research while in school focused on modern European and military history.

Since then I've been doing freelance writing while trying to find a steady job. Only recently I picked up a job that should lead to some management training. It wasnt what I wanted to do, but I'll take what I can get.

Chem engineering student. Just recently switched after two years as a chem major. Right now, I'm considering applying for the USNavy's nuclear propulsion officer program, but I have some time before anything can come of that.

Ooh, one of the jobs I'm in the process to try and get is at Naval Reactors.

Computer programmer, desktop support, systems administrator, and general IT man-of-all-work for the Psychology Department at Colgate University.

And loving it. 8)

Ohhh.. the fun a true B.O.F.H (http://www.theregister.co.uk/odds/bofh/) could have in a psychology department.

Or if you don't have that twisted a sense of humour at least it's a good place to brush-up your I.T. skills.

Ho. Ho. I've got hours of material like that.  :-X

Just started work as a computer programmer (again). How many days before I discover I am also the desktop support, systems administrator, and general IT man-of-all-work dude. Already had the "could you help me install Outlook" pitch and the "IMAP for GoogleMail is not working" plea.. and you just know they pronounce it 'iMap' and assume it has something to do with streetview on their phone...

Got to love it, though. At least when you get something wrong no-one glows in the dark  ;)

We have a strangely large amount of science/tech people for a Medieval-themed game.

I'll break the trend.

Studying Philosophy and Legal Studies.

Looking at Law School in the future, possibly.

I'll get back with the trend. I'm a physicist, having mostly worked on Quantum Communication (quantum teleportation in particular). I now work for a small company that makes infrared lasers, doing mostly sales and some product development.

I've got three Degress, One in Mechatronics Engineering, One in Computer Engineering and One in Economics. I'm currently working on a Diploma of Project Management and plugging away on a Theology Degree. I work as an Electrical Project Engineer specialising in Automation Control. I'm also the father of a 15 month old son who demands quite a bit of my time.

Not when I can avoid it. Three degrees sounds more impressive then it is. A Engineering degree in Australia takes 4 years, if the second engineering degree shares a substantial amount of subjects or topics, it only takes another year or so to get both. With course credits the Economic degree took me another 3 semesters. The Diploma of Project Management and Theology Degree I do by correspondence part time :)

I'm now into my fifth year at university, currently doing a Law Degree with a vague plan to head into the area of employment law. I also started a Arts Degree (International Relations and History), but given how far behind I am in it, I dont think that's getting finished.

Another guy of the IT jack-of-all-trades regarding computer. I work as a Computer Programmer and IT Analyst for a company who does systems for financial entities (i.e. banks), Gym Teacher (this is the stuff that brakes the high/tech profile), independent IT Consulter, owner and co-founder of my own software company (YEYYY!!!  ;D).

Now I'm studying to get a 4 years :( degree of Videogame Design and Programming.

I have 2 dogs, a cat, a tarantula (spider).

Almost forgot, I also have a girlfriend who is always demanding time from me and I can barely sleep while doing all this stuff together...

During the day, I'm a Ph.D. student in Psychology who is either procrastinating or working on her thesis.  Mostly procrastinating, though.

At night, I tweet.

Seems like I am definitely the younger of this community. Currently a college student at the University of Maine and no major. Generally in that freshmen party-state that has corrupted me into doing many.. erm.. crazy deeds. Going to take a semester off and figure out my life,w hat I want to do, and make some money in the meantime, perhaps travel a bit.

Am an 18 year old 'student' who is taking a year off and in the mean time work parttime as a bartender. Conclusion, I guess I am just lazy.
