Anyone know what's going on, and if it is sensitive information or not?
-
The Magistrates as a body sure don't, but it's possible that some of the Devs among us do. Though in general, when you see a big group of locked accounts all of a sudden it's usually because Tom detected a multi-cheater.

The accounts of Mendicant and several other characters in Aurvandil have been locked for cheating. Several eyes have examined the evidence, and it is quite overwhelming. Further, efforts were made to obtain responses from those affected. The accounts that replied supplied reasons that contradicted the evidence.
-
What sort of cheating? Multi-cheating?
-
The details are not important. Evidence of wrong-doing was found. It was investigated, verified, and acted on. Now it's time to move and get back to playing the game.
-
Alright, but I imagine it would be nice for those whose asses Aurvandil kicked to know if it was because they were powering their armies with ill-gotten gold or multi-enhanced movement efficiency, or if the cheating was unrelated to their surprisingly powerful armies.

Given the number of accounts locked, I'm going to bet on multi-cheating. Not a dev, so obviously I don't have any special info here.
-
That would be my guess as well.

Is there any tool that runs often and checks for multi accounts? There is no way that only few players multi account in all of the worlds. I am not expert but it seems to me that its easy for ppl that create multi accounts and cheat without being noticed. I bet there are a lot more cheaters across game worlds.
-
I imagine there's a tool that just flags IP sharing on accounts for other people to review. It'd be obscenely easy to get around that, IMO, if that's the case... But I may be wrong.

Yeah, it has been confirmed in the Dwilight thread.

There are tools, I believe, yes. I don't know the details of them.

Requesting moderator lock, I've gotten the answer I wanted.
-
Huh, we don't have mod status in the Q&A board.
-
Locking as requested.
Also, trust me that we have developed quite sophisticated multi-cheater detection tools in the past decade, and while we do log IPs, they are probably the least important piece of info we look at when determining whether or not someone is a cheater.
