I love it when a thread comes together.

I'm more than an actor. I'm an icon, an industry.

Death is the solution to all problems. No man, no problem. - Joseph Stalin/Himoura family mantra.

"If monarchy is corrupting - and it is - wait till you see what an overt empire does to us." - Daniel Ellsberg

Thread invaded by D'hara with an invasion quote of course.
“We're not afraid of sanctions. We're not afraid of military invasion. What frightens us is the invasion of western immorality.”
― Ruhollah Khomeini
Perfect for Darka: “If this is to be our end, then I would have them make such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers
-
I'll just follow with a nonchalant Lurian response.
"Go, bid the soldiers shoot." - Shakespeare.
-
D'harans a true soldiers, Lurians are not. Read my signature while I find a better quote. (The sig explains what I just said.)
This is what the D'harans said when they heard the Lurians approaching. “It was the kind of scream that would be in a horror movie right before someone got chopped up into little bitty pieces.”
― Missy Lyons, Alien Promise
-
"The ultimate end of human endeavor is the minimum of pain. We aim to decrease invasion only because, as a rule, invasion increases the total of pain (meaning, of course, pain suffered by the ego, whether directly or through sympathy with others). But it is precisely my contention that this rule, despite the immense importance which I place upon it, is not absolute; that, on the contrary, there are exceptional cases where invasion – that is, coercion of the non-invasive – lessens the aggregate pain. Therefore coercion of the non-invasive, when justifiable at all, is to be justified on the ground that it secures, not a minimum of invasion, but a minimum of pain." - Benjamin Tucker
And so it shall come to light, when Luria invades.

D'hara take heed!

Lame. D'harans ftw. To wage war, you need first of all money; second, you need money, and third, you also need money

For the merchant, even honesty is a financial speculation.
Charles Baudelaire

For the liars, ehem I mean Lurians:
“Be bad, but at least don't be a liar, a deceiver!”
― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

So far as he is able, a prince should stick to the path of good but, if the necessity arises, he should know how to follow evil.
- Niccolò Machiavelli

I dunno about you Southron Lurians, but us Mountain folk live by one creed:
"All Hope abandon, ye who enter here"
-Dante Aligheri

The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable.

Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendent, and to embrace them is to achieve enlightenment.

"We're all mad here, I'm mad...You're mad!" - Lurian
"How do you know I am mad?" - Foreigner
"If you weren't mad, you wouldn't be here!" - Lurian

I think the scariest person in the world is the person with no sense of humor.
Michael J. Fox

"A true friend stabs you in the front" - Oscar Wilde.
As Lurian as it gets.

I'm not sure the good guys on Dwilight are... You might need to point them out for me, because I don't see any. All I see are a bunch of realms out to get theirs.

Well, we're all bright, shiny, good people in Iashalur! Absolutely! The previous nobility of Niselur? Maybe not so much, especially near the end with the grabbing and the wailing and oh-put-that-down-were-you-raised-by-barbarians? Maybe not so much with the starting nobility of Iashalur, with the omm-nom-nom-errk-overstuffed of region-grabby, the "I've got a dinner fork and a pot lid, let's crusade!" armies, and the council, oy-yow, the council! What with the rebellion, Grumpy King Turin, Traitor King Leopold and that mad fool of a Banker who wants to make merchant-marauder babies with the Duchess of Gelene.
But we're all very good now, very nice and shiny. Have you seen our Temple? It's very shiny. Like us!
Shiny.

Lurians, being of superior breeding, culture, intellect, endurance, strength, etc are clearly the good guys. Everyone wishes they were Lurian! Even Chenier!
