So, for those who don't know, although everyone in Sandalak can agree we should be a theocracy, no one can agree on which religion we should be a theocracy of :p
-
Yes, its much easier to agree upon which religions it should not be a theocracy of ;)
-
My proposal shall capture the hearts and minds of all of Sandalak!
...as soon as I write it... ???
-
I still say we should be of the Chimaera!
Though.. I haven't announced that ICly, have I? Whoops.
-
Moar SA!

Moar SA!

No! Bad!

Should just worship Noah's Ark and be done with it.

Worship God King Kurlock! \o/

This.

Kurlock is now 8 ft tall, shoots lightning bolts from his eyes, breaths fire, and capable of slaying a soul stealing bird! More reasons to vote for this man!

Typhus, the dwarf, will likely kill him.

Doubt a little dwarf can slay an eight foot giant! I heard Dragul family's character is a giant woman swinging a hammer size of a child. She might crush poor Kurlock :o

All Glory to the Hypnotoad!
A cult devoted to a species of toad that takes over men's minds, not a bad idea. Toad-licking priests ftw!
-
In Taselak, since our mascot is a Jabberwocky..... we have determined mascot's for the other two realms along a mythical/fictional nature!
For your pleasure!
Taselak: Normal Men, Jabberwocky battle units.
Wolves roaming along the Southern tundra over towards Sandalak
Sandalak: Normal Men. Shiny platemail, rainbow painted, riding ponies and unicorns into battle.
Ikalak: Little people, hairy feet, riding poodles that they call "wolves", only because they don't know any better. They also have fairie/pixie type things in the woods up north.

Worship God King Kurlock! \o/
No. Handsome Kurlock!

I blame the duck.
-
No midget god king for Sandalak :( How sad :'(
-
As Afi was the last character to join before the referendum (I think), and he cast his vote for Indirik... that would make me the kingmaker. I'll take that appointment now. 8)

The failed Kingmaker, as it seems Kurlock somehow got power.

The referendum was technically over but when the turn ran, it ran the referendum again. Kurlock had 2 more votes than Kinron this time 8) TIME TO WORSHIP THE MIDGET GOD KING FOOLS!

How do we worship the midget god king, o mighty one? What is the ceremony and sacrifice require?
First turn most likely bugged, have to see what next few turns bring us.

It would be beyond hilarious if Kurlock happened to die in this duel to the death now. *coughcough*

Indeed. Let's see if Kurlock's little adventure will end before it even begins or it will continue for a bit longer. Either way it will be fun 8)
-
Srsly? You started a death duel already?
-
YOU KEEP WHAT YOU KILL.
-
I blame the duck... again
-
Thus ended the dominion of Sandalak, on Day 2 of the South Island Reboot.
-
That's what we get for talking about the duck... :(
-
Vengeance is mine sayeth the Midnight Mallard, cower in the shadow f Darkwing Duck
-
Srsly? You started a death duel already?
Indeed. Let's test Kurlock's luck! 8)
-
Duel Death (just in)
Kurlock has suffered a fatal blow in a duel against Cody. He died quickly.
Duel (just in)
Cody Graves, Knight of Ibyp meets his challenger Kurlock Lapallanch, Wyvern Incarnate of Sandalak, Royal of Sandalak, Knight of Adrelhia for the agreed duel till death.
Kurlock has decided to use the 'neutral' strategy while Cody has chosen the 'aggressive' strategy, giving Cody the advantage.
The duel goes as planned, then badly for Kurlock. He suffers several slight wounds, then a final, fatal blow. The healers hurry, but they are too late.
Miracle (just in)
You were dead, or so the healer claimed, before you wake up in front of everyone's eyes like nothing has ever happened. Your body still sustains a few wounds, but they are apparently healing. Astounded and bewildered, the people could find no other explanations but declare it a miracle. Words of your miraculous revival soon spread. (OOC: New character protection.)
Now Sandalak has an immortal midget king!
-
AH HAH AH AHA HA HH AH A HH !HA !!AH !H A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:o ;D :( ;D
-
I can't stop laughing! This is the stuff of legends! ;D
-
I'm pretty sure that as a theocracy we'd have to proclaim Kurlock as supreme generalissimo for life now even if he wasn't already the ruler.
BM mechanics can produce such awesome stories sometimes.
-
That is pretty awesome.
-
I think we have just witnessed the most successful failed duel. 8)
-
Bahahahahaaha!
-
But technically you still lost so, are you meant to give up your title anyway? Is Cody gonna be our third king in 3 days? :p
Ps we have the most nobles \o/
-

Good, more reason to kill each other.
-
Sandalak is quickly shaping up to be much like its old self again :P
-

Well, we could go this way for 82 days... just saying.
-
I demand the honorary title of Chief Duelist... should Cody not die during one of these duels. (It's gonna happen.)
-
I think Sandalak is the theocracy of stupid duels.

As long it is not the theocracy of sartan

As long it is not the theocracy of sartan
Speaking of which, we've had our first player leave because of this...
-
Make that two, now.
-
Make that two, now.
Ohmy... going to lose this war before it even started... :(
-
Ohmy... going to lose this war before it even started... :(
It's part of a master plan. We get Sandalak destroyed, assimilate, and then destroy the other realms from within.
-
Well Sartan is my family's #1 enemy from now on.
-
No one quit because Sandalak was about to become the Theocracy of Sartan. Two people quit because as players they didn't like any element of Sartanism existing in Sandalak, including Sartanian characters and, rather than resolve this through in game methods, they instead decided to stop playing if other players didn't just suddenly rewrite the identities of their own characters for their personal convenience.
Lapallanch, ICly you can do anything you want but all I can say is that so far the players of Sartanian characters have been pretty happy to play along with others while it's the players of other characters who have been refusing to play nicely and throwing their toys out of the pram like spoiled children.
Including, I might add, one who quit in a flurry of swearing and ableist insults which I for one found f***ing offensive considering I'm disabled myself.
-
Can we PLEASE not bring this same, stupid argument on to the forums? It was bad enough that we had to suffer through it in OOC messages in game.
-
Sandalak is the first theocracy i see that has to tolerate other reliions and even allow pagans to have some kind of power...
It is funny., and it to think that it is a normal discussion to be had on a theocracy with more than oe religion.
But I see things migrating now away from the religion aspect and more to the crazyness of the judge. At least fr me anyway.
-
Sandalak is the first theocracy i see that has to tolerate other reliions and even allow pagans to have some kind of power...
It happened in Morek several years ago, too. When the Springdale duchy joined Morek, they brought The Seven with them. In the interests of keeping that large, and rich, duchy they allowed the people to keep their temples/religion. Eventually The Seven died mainly due to apathy, and SA was the only one left.
Sandalak doesn't *have* to put up with it. It chooses to, because it doesn't want to lose the four or five ardent Sartanist characters.
The whole situation blew up mainly because of bored players. There is absolutely nothing for them to do. So they argue, and fight duels to the death that they know won't kill them. It was absolutely hilarious the first time it happened, mostly due to surprise and comic relief. Now it's just sad...
This start-up period was *way* too long.
-
Tolerance? Boo! We need more persecution!
-
Tolerance? Boo! We need more persecution!
It does seem like there are more than a couple who desire to live out their fantasies of running their very own Spanish Inquisition.
-
Soon they'll realize that the position of Loremaster is... just that. Their only job is to sit around and write about how awesome the real leaders actually are.
-
I have removed the irrelevant tangents. If you want to talk RL religion, take it to PMs. As for the forum: Keep it polite, or keep it to yourself.
-
I wonder how many protests would have if the turn scripts were running properly.
-

If people complain about a theocracy allowing other relgions, I'm not allowed to provide a real world example of such to refute their point?
I'm not sure why my comment needed to be removed, it was just a factual statement that even extremely hardcore theocracies tolerate other religions.
-
I'm just glad that things finally seem to have settled down in Sandalak because for a while there I was seriously considering quitting the game altogether.
-
First kill (with a permanently dead foe) goes to Elaine. All hail the Griffin Incarnate! :P
-
You're just lucky all my death duels forfeited while my character was injured. I'm sure I would've gotten a few down before Cody bit the dust.
-
Yeah the vote of confidence referendum helped calm things a little.
The no more miracles too....all those duels were a little annoying.
Now we just need to start the war.
-
Nope, we just had another player quit. I deleted my character as well, in hopefully a more humorous fashion, and will be seeing what one of the other realms is like. I haven't heard of anybody quitting the other realms, so hopefully it will be good.
-
Are there characters you don't delete?
-
On the one hand, the realm will probably run smoother without all the deleted characters. On the other hand, it's sad to see so much childish rage quitting.
Mind you Gustav, to your credit, you at least gave an IC explanation instead of swearing at people so points to you :p
-
*rubs temples*
I believe Rob asked us not to bring it to the forums, so can we not please?
-
People love bringing IC and reasonably private matters to the forum.
From all realms it seems.

I was the first person to quit, and I kind of take issue with the "childish rage". There was no rage, and it certainly wasn't childish, it just wasn't any fun to watch non-stop infighting over something so overwhelmingly dumb.
I joined a Theocracy to play a religious zealot, other people joined to bring an off-continent religion with them and shoehorn it into the RP. Then if anyone disagreed there was much affrontery and tsk tsking because we were stepping on the Sartaninan characters choice of RP. It was all so stupid. It was like arguing with religious conservatives in the US; circular, pointless, frustrating.
Why stick around a game if it's not fun?
I could have argued it out IC, but again, it was a frustrating and dull conversation, so why bother? That's not why I log on.

I don't like the Sartanism thing either but the other side overreacted themselves. People who are blaming all these arguments just on the Sartans are blinded by their own sense of righteous indignation. They offered to keep themselves to themselves, it was the anti-Sartans that couldn't accept the compromise and kept banging on about it and of course the Sartans had to react to that.
So everyone has gone too far and everyone has been mean. So can we all just move on and forget about it please.
-

I hear there was some rough times in Ikalak, too. At least one of the people in Sandalak left Ikalak over some controversy/drama.
Taselak had its own problems, though hopefully that unpleasantness has all been fixed.
In short: There is no perfect nirvana. Every realm has its problems. This is to be expected. A group of players assembled at random, containing several strong/stubborn personalities, has to work out the pecking order. People need to define where they all fit.
Also, this: http://xkcd.com/386/
People refuse to just f'ing let go! It doesn't matter that two dozen people *already* said "just shut up and let it all blow over", they just *have* to scream out their personal plea to everyone to just shut the hell up, because "hey, maybe everyone will listen to ME even though they've ignored everyone else's demand to shut up. I'm special!"
This is the kind of crap that happens when people take an IC argument into OOC. REALM-WIDE OOC ARGUING NEVER HELPS! People need to learn to keep their game IC. If they feel the need to go OOC, then do it by PM.
-
Great. Just great :p

Holy cow.
You're way more worked up over this than I ever got. Maybe step away for a minute. Smell a flower. Pet a dog. Have a beer.
:D
-
At least I tried to go out with a laugh rather than a sour note. Death by letters is a rather interesting way to go. Although in the Adeptus Administratum, being crushed by stacks of papers is a relatively common occurrence.
-
You're way more worked up over this than I ever got.
What spins me up is how people assume that just because you have a problem with someone, that you *must* be part of some OOC clique, and all your motivations are OOC driven. After all, this is the WAR ISLAND, and if you pay attention to something other than beating the other realm bloody, you MUST have some OOC plot. I mean, if not, then you'd just get along with everyone, right?
And, really, how hard is it to just ignore the crap you don't want to deal with? Don't care that the judge is a Sartanian and that the totemist people don't want a Sartanian? Then here's a novel idea: Ignore the debate, because it really just doesn't have any flipping effect on you, does it?
You're not the one getting constant duel challenges? Ignore it, and let the judge/ruler deal with it.
But in either case, don't send realm-wide OOC messages yelling at people and accusing them of being, variously:
* OOC motivated
* Members of a clan
* Stupid
* Childish
* A dick
* A fool
* Talking to other players in ways other than using IG messaging (wtf... we're not allowed to talk to other players outside the game or we're powergamers?)
* Abusing OOC relationships to get/hold power
* Powergaming
* Tired of everyone else's OOC messages, and you're going to let everyone know by writing another OOC message
* "ableist and offensive" toward disabled people
And that's all within the last 2 days.
Maybe Kurlock *should* start OOC banning people... >:(
Maybe step away for a minute. Smell a flower. Pet a dog. Have a beer.
I *could* use a beer...
-
Can't we just sink the island and try again? :p
-
* "ableist and offensive" toward disabled people
Where the hell is that one coming from?

Either way, the Titans ruled on the matter. So hopefully we can now just get on with it all and start the choppy-choppy in a day or two. Or rather, the crushy-crushy if we march with Kurlock. Personally, Aero would be up for some stabby-stabby.
-
Moderator note: I don't think this thread is accomplishing much beyond continuing OOC arguments. Locked. I strongly suggest everyone calm down before starting another Sandalak thread.
