We believe that from Unity we derive Strength and only in Strength lies Glory. Only the strongest are fit for survival- people who have iron will, sharp minds, nerves of steel and strong body and we all together consist Taselak. "One for all and all for us"- with that principle we shall purge the island of the weak and the impure. Victory is in Unity!
-
Only the strongest Tassel will live to adorn a young girl's hair!
-
...and most are too chicken to do duels
-
Maybe people should just spar with wooden swords dipped in metal paint?
-
Violence of any sort might hurt the delicate sensibilities of our nobles :-\
-
Holy !@#$! 20 characters were paused cause they were created by multi-cheaters aiming to cause a cunning take over of Taselak!
-
It's true that there seems to be a little too much awareness IC that we're all new characters with the same amount of skill, but I'm seeing so many people that I haven't played with in a long time that nothing can ruin this for me haha :D :D :D (not even the people who are trying to ruin it for everybody)

Behold, the second coming of Senile Anus!

Behold, the second coming of Senile Anus!
I read the name as Sterile Anus lol
-
Council is in place!
Ruler: Sorach Medevandal
General: Woelfen Guile
Judge: Lynx Tranquilli
Banker: Amrod Von Ulthuan
mmmmmyeeessssssss

I'm champing at the bit now for when we can start fighting. I'm looking forward to every single part of it!
-
I wonder how many of our enemies can survive their infighting before they start fighting us. :)

Based on the sheer amount of discord among our enemies...I feel safe in saying not long. And they will last even less time after coming up against Taselak and it's ridiculously talented nobles. :P 8)

BEHOLD THE MIGHTY ARMIES OF TASELAK!

Get choked on one of those, still dead.

This took me way to long to get.

To me it sounds like Tay-se-lak, rather than Tassel-ack, so such puns have no power over me :p

That's how I hear it too. Glad I'm not alone.

You're both wrong.
Respectfully,
Team Tassel
-
As General of Taselak, I will stick to my version. Tassel is accepted, but not the official way to say it.

Sacha I don't understand what the relevance is.
-
...not the official way to say it.
Yuu knuw nuttin, Jon Snuuw.
-
Just makes me think of some barbarian tramp getting shot in the chest by a little kid. :P
-
I kind of wish they'd kept it as it happened in the books, with Jon searching afterwards, worrying that it was one of his arrows that downed her, and finding her dying in the snow, relieved that he wasn't the one who killed her and then guilty because he was relieved - but the entire fight at Castle Black was so different from how it happened in the books that really, I suppose, that wouldn't have been possible. I'm pretty happy with how the show depicted it all, all things considered. TV Ygritte was way more likeable than book Ygritte, anyway.

-
Just gonna say it, book Ygritte didn't seem as hot as TV Ygritte was.
Also, I agree entirely. Book version with the search and emotional level was great. I am not unhappy with the TV version though, as you say: all things considered.

Ban Ban Ban!
I went down with a big bad bang bang bang!
Celebration's underway, everyone join in the fray-
There is no black or white, only shades of grey!
-
Hahaha, you will be sorely missed Cren. I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield ;)
-
Team Tassel, it is. Pretty sure the General has little to no power over what is or isn't 'official' in referring to the name of the realm, that'd be more the Queen's business if anyone's.
-
Pfffft. When Taselak is the supreme force on the island, people are gonna be sayin' it my way. 8D
-
It's Tay-say-lack to me. Everyone does have their own way to say stuff. :)

+1
-
Going by the spelling, it would be pronounced Tay-see-lak.
-
Going by the spelling, there's no reason for a long a in the first syllable, and certainly not for a long e in the second.
-
I read it as Teh-seh-lakk, if we are going purely phonetics.
-
Well, if everyone went the phonetics way then we won't have the various accents. Brought back memories of Pygmalion and My Fair Lady :)

I agree with the long E, but I'm sticking with my long A :p As in "taste" and "taser".
Oh but if we're going by our local accents I'm sure I can get an R in there...

How so? I'm just going by the old standby that if two vowels are separated by only one consonant, then that usually means they have the long vowel sound. It doesn't work all the time, but is a general enough rule for everyday pronunciation.
-
You people are over-thinking it. It's pronounced: we-will-lose-a-lak. ;)

I've never heard of any such 'standby'. However, I could concede that a long a is conceivable, in the vane of 'laser' or 'base' or 'wave' and similar. However, in all those cases, the 'e' is not made long. It is silent or short. I still go with Team Tassel, it makes more sense of the spelling given.
Also, I think you're mistaking us for the sandals and the ikkies, Indirik.

Awww, this is cute. :P
-
This is stupid. Unless you are American or not-English, it's Tas-a-lak.

Taselak: Home of the pronunciation police.
-
Good thing no one can tell just by reading it what pronunciation we intend, then, eh? ;D
-

I'm American, using proper english (ie.- not adding extraneous 'u's in places they don't belong), and it is Tas-a-lak, like you say.

I do love it when foreigners try to tell me how my own language should be spelt. Arrogantly dictating that their deviations are the correct way of doing things, it takes a certain level of cheek.
The U's are not extraneous, they affect the way the word is pronounced if you spoke or understood proper English you would appreciate that. American simplified English simply spells words in what is little more than text speak, meaningless detractions from the correct spelling in an attempt to make the language easier to understand.

Whenever I have trouble determining the correct pronunciation of an english word, I always refer to this page before giving up entirely.

You realize that English is such an inconsistent language that there is an exception to every rule. And I mean EVERY rule.

Trash-I-lack
-
That's not too bad. We are lacking in trash in our nice river and bridges city. Great civil infrastructure, ya know? :P
-
This is dumb. This is four pages of looking at tassels and debating linguistics. Ikalak has barely any activity on their posts and Sandalak keeps attracting flame wars.
-
Nothing wrong with a good ol' linguistics debate. :P
-
Meanwhile, consumed by a linguistic debate, Taselak becomes oblivious to anything else and gets destroyed.
-
Oh, you are cute Stabbity.
Our linguistic's debates are more dangerous than any combat you guys have going on. :P
-
The courtly debates of Taselak are much more dangerous than even the bloodiest battles of all time. Get ready for... Anything. Like calling the Queen a whore. :P
-
Oh, you are cute Stabbity.
Our linguistic's debates are more dangerous than any combat you guys have going on. :P
You insult yourself good sir! Of course your verbal debates are more dangerous than any battles we're fighting, as we're only fighting you and Sandalak.
-
The reason our verbal debates are more dangerous than any battles you are fighting in is because you haven't been fighting lately.
Slackers.
Taselak shall take control over the entirety of South Island! We are the plague!!!
