Noble has left (39 minutes ago)
Godwyn Winter-Born, Knight of Saenna was killed during a battle in Moeth.
Bummer...
-
Why only Sandalak :'(
-
We have more heroes?
-
We have a lot of heroes... 16 heroes... holy...
-
22 @ Taselak.

-
So, start dying already! ;)
-
Killed by peasants too. That's not even glorious.
-

You used to have a lot more... I counted 25 once.
-
You're such a stalker.
-
Two more. One Sandal, one Tassel. Still waiting for that first non-hero death.
The hero Peter Deytheur, Knight of Cave of Guilt was killed by Amrod Von Ulthuan's unit.
The heroine Scein Dubhaine, Dame of Taselak, Marshal of the Black Army of Taselak was killed by Hollerman Strand's unit.
-
non-hero death
Right. You will have to wait for that for a long time. I think the island will reset before that happens.
-
I personaly want to see something like this happen:
Hero A kills hero B
Hero B kills hero A at the same time.
Would that be possible even? If it is i hope it happens to me... :3

Very unlikely. There are usually too many people around. If you only put two heroes against each other maybe.
-
It is possible.
-
Would be a pretty awesome RP if it does happen.
-
Since both people are dead, neither one could post the rp about it. :p
-
If it does happen it should be Kurlock and Typhus. MIdget fight to the death!

That still only counts as one!

Someone that did not die could post it? :P
Or they both will proly create a new char who will then write what their father, uncle, grandfather whoever experienced.
-
Dropping like flies now?
The hero Borgan Flambard, Noble of Taselak was killed by James Bathgate's unit.
-
It's okay, that one was just an Ikkie traitor.
-
We've also got an execution.

I seems to recall duel to the death between both of them. What happened? ???
We've also got an execution.
:(

Typhus got lucky and only got critically wounded. Lucky bastard!

Lucky, or divine intervention?

I wouldn't say such things unless you're very lightning-proof. ;D

Another Tassel down:
Aglaeca Dageroth, Dame of Taselak has been killed by Bearers of Sharp Sticks (6).

Ding-dong, the Witch is dead!
-
Perhaps a new character with the same name will spawn, and insist the reports of their death are all lies.
-
"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated!"
What's up with all the schadenfreude, Sacha? :D

She called herself that :P

Well there goes my hero :( RIP Ossam. Swarmed by militia.
-
Look at it as an opportunity to try out another realm.
-
I can't say either Sandalak or Ikalak interest me very much.

You never know until you try ;)
-
True enough.
So I buried Ossam and this message appeared on my family page and I couldn't help but laugh a bit at it.
Your family recovered 10 gold coins from the body of Ossam.
I didn't know that was a feature.

Aeneas, the leader of Taselak died today.
What a great way to go. Taselak city is quickly becoming a graveyard for rulers.

And another ruler bites the dust, go Taselak! Time for some new fun again

Our rulers always die gloriously!

It feels like Aeneas got swarmed though in his own house hehe

Well dang, second hero I've lost for Taselak this time around. RIP Ossan Ossan.
!@#$ archers. My guy's death was due to the wrong settings being on aggressive still, but why the !@#$ do archers keep shooting at the walls in a siege once ALL of their infantry are dead and the defenders have to climb down to meet them? It makes zero sense.

Well you weren't exactly on the ground. Can't just jump off of your walls. Gotta use the stairs!
-
If you pay attention to the battle at the end, Sandalak's archers were beginning to panic because of lack of infantry cover. But it's not a simple yes/no calculation, it's one that factors in various unit-specific stats.
Round 9:
With no infantry cover left, Evergreen Bows (3) panic and retreat.
With no infantry cover left, Proelium Dominus Guards (9) panic and retreat.
Round 10:
With no infantry cover left, Hail of the White Doe (5) panic and retreat.
Last round(12):
With no infantry cover left, Fern Leroux (4) panic and retreat.

Ah I didn't notice that no, has it been changed recently? Barca's last battle was lost because we massacred their infantry and then all the units charged out to attack the archers which just slaughtered them. It was really dumb.
-
The battle code is quite legacy and so is touched gingerly/rarely. That bit of code definitely predates Barca's last battle.
What you saw there was most likely related to fortifications (though could be unit settings). Roughly, fortifications encourage a unit holding on walls. The bigger the fortification level, the longer they will hold before moving out of the fortification. Settings like murderous, aggressive, normal, defensive, evasive affect it as well. Also, some more advanced marshal formations. Digging in is a primitive-form of fortification, so occurs too.
There are some checks for various units in front of them before moving forward. For them to move forward, they aren't seeing units to attack, so are moving forward to find units to attack.
So since Barca only had townsland fortifications, it had less 'wait time' before moving forward. Obviously its been too long now to know whether unit settings played a role at all.
In terms of the Taselak battle, higher fortifications, so more sitting on fortifications. Still, both the first and second battle saw units move out of fortification while others stayed because I suspect they were on aggressive unit stance, not defensive. In terms of the MI/Archers behind fortifications, if they have enemy in-range I don't think they will leave their position. Fortifications do reduce ranged damage. Compare the top section of ranged hits damage compared to the final casualties/hits at the end of the round and you'll notice them reduced due to fortifications. You'll also notice Sandalak was on skirmish settings, which reduced its own ranged casualties.

Thanks
