Title: Looking for Playtesters II
Post by: Tom on June 30, 2015, 12:29:02 PM
Since I plan to start another round of alpha testing shortly, here is a new topic to sign up for the alpha test.

The exact number of slots is yet TBD, but I want to run at least two towns this time, so there are at least 8 slots available. Post below if you are interested. Include one sentence of why. In case there are more people interested than I have slots, I'll go by those sentences and add the ones that I think will add the most to the testing process.

Understand that this is an alpha test. Half the game doesn't even exist yet, the rest is in various states of partially-finished and very little balancing and fine-tuning has been done. The purpose of these tests is to find out what works and what doesn't, so things may change at any time. Things may break. Your shop may burn down, either because I added such a new feature or because I messed up the database. At the same time, I might give a thousand gold to everyone just because I want you to test more stuff or such.

Signing up.

Why: I'm intrigued by the angle this has on traditional fantasy games, and I'd love to be able to help out. :)

Loving this idea of playing the lowly shopkeeper, although it seems all shopkeepers have a past. When I dm'd a bunch of different rpg's players learned in a big hurry not to completely dismiss the "generic" npc's lol

I would love to sign up, I didn't manage to sign up the last round and it seems that the playtesters were having a lot of fun.

Will this be a test of the 3D client? I would love to continue testing but I simply won't be able to use a 3D client regularly.

The 3D client will come into play, but you can play with just the web, and you will have to for some parts that are unfinished in the 3D client.

Then I shall certainly be interested in continuing to help the game evolve.

I would also like to play-test shared shops. Any two people who want to play but don't know if they have enough time - sign up and run a shop together and give me feedback how it works.

I would like to take part in Alpha2 as Rax's Rocks needs to try out some alternative sales strategies.

As the person who managed to buy all the sections and owned the most profitable shop, I will sign up again to beat everyone once again >:D

Penchant's Emporium of Battle and More needs to make improvements to beat Zakky. Some say sales techniques are whats needed, others think changing the name of the shop to "Better than Zakky's Gear Shop"  will help, that and maybe charging more to my loyal customers because obviously Zakky made a killing doing that.

As well, I think I am active enough to be able to handle my own shop but I am open to doing a shared shop with someone.

I didn't count yet, but I think there are enough slots for everyone so far.

I couldn't find time to work on the 3D client more with birthday and everything, but I want to start the next test soon.

Shops and Towns

The second test will have two towns, to test interaction between towns (mostly, parties moving from one town to the other).

I want one town to be somewhat small, only 3 shops, and one to be slightly bigger, 5 shops.

Choose which one you want your shop to be in. And for the record, right now we have these people in the test:
I want the 3D client to be able to at least handle buying and selling, but honestly I'm not sure how long it will take. Maybe I'll decide to start anyway without, at least for the first week or so. By my experience, once the test is running, pressure on me to actually code things is higher and they get done faster. :-)

I'll go for the small town.

I'll go large town then, so we've at least one in each :)

Pick your shops here now:

There will also be a new 3D client available in the next few days. Unfortunately, it has not progressed as far as I had hoped, but it should allow some basic actions.

Tom, I'd like to join if you still have that extra slot.  I saw your post on the Mystic Arena Page and then this on your FB page.  Used to play mystic arena back in the late 90's.  Let me know if you still have the spot and what I need to do.

Thanks,
Dan

Chantpen: all you have to do to increase sales is say that your weapons and armor keep wild Motos away.
