So... any SC II fans who want to play together, or just talk about it, let's... talk. :D

I use to play until my computer got a virus that won't allow my game to update  :'(

I play on request of my friends, mostly. Occasionally, I do get bored and wander into custom games for a night. Doesn't happen often though.

Hmm, updates not working?

I normally play custom maps these days.  Don't play enough to know all the little details for 1v1, anymore.  But I'd be glad to play custom 1v1s if anyone wants to play. :)

I'd be happy to play when I've got time.  Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time usually ;)

Weekend mornings (between 8:30AM and 10:30AM EST) are usually a pretty good time, and the times when my wife goes to China on business I don't usually have much else to do, so they're usually good  :-\

Sounds good.  If there was enough interest we could have a BM players' SCII IRC channel to organize games and interest.  I'll wait and see how many more actually play SCII.  ;)

If I ever get my game working again I would be interested. By custom games do you mean like traditional matches just not ranked, or the cool game modes like Desert Strike. I love that game mode, and am pretty good at it.

Both! :D  They're all fun in due time with the right people.

I love playing, unfortunately I'm studying for my MCITP: Enterprise Administrator for the next 2 or 3 months.

I play occasionally; mostly custom match and co-op games against the cpu.

Seems we actually have quite a few players. :D  Though we are all more or less occasional players.

Maybe we should agree to check channel "battlemaster" when we play so we can play with each other if we're both online. :)

Heh, I joined/created that channel the day the patch came out that let you join channels...naturally, there was no one there.

Figured I'd bring back this thread, see if people still play.

I play on request of my friends, mostly. Occasionally, I do get bored and wander into custom games for a night. Doesn't happen often though.

I've started doing the same. Custom games until friends come on. Currently unranked 1v1 (I've done 1 placement, got destroyed, cba with the others). Silver & Gold in 2v2, Gold in 3v3 (but being very carried...)

I'll gladly do some team games with you guys if anyone's up for it.

What server?

I'm Gryphon on NA.  I'm not on much just now (due to moving), but I'm expecting (hoping) that to change soon.

I am a fan of watching SC 2 games... not a fan of playing the game itself :( A big fan of Boxer :D

P.S: Sorry. Not to offend anyone but Koreans are the best SC players and things will stay that way :D mwahahahah

I'm not liking the new Zerg units. I already struggle to hold them off most of the time, now they get something to spawn units and run them into my base. <insert rage here>

Same, but haven't had much chance to play much / do multiplayer games yet (Few placement matches, then left). I would probably be pretty low in the league placement. So if you don't mind a casual gamer with just a basic understanding, sure, I'd be interest in playing sometimes :P Though I'm on the Europe server.

I like playing the game (Though atm am still doing the Campaign for the second time, I was serious when I said I don't play much), but also watch a lot of games with commentary. It's just fun to watch for some reason :)

As a Zerg fan, I'm all happy about the Zerg Campaign coming up. The new units, I guess, will really depend on how it exactly works. Though something that spawns units sounds interesting for sure :P, but again I'd want to see it first.

Not a problem, I'm not overly great myself :P I'm also on the Europe server :D

Since you're a Zerg player, any team your in can probably place quite well. Zerg tend to do quite well in team games because you can harass easily whilst your team mate builds up a decent attacking force.

The new units, I guess, will really depend on how it exactly works.

You seen the videos for the new units? Thread on them at Team Liquid (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=277762). Shows how they work, but how they'll work in a real game is still anyone's guess.

I hate Zerg's new unit viper. Zerg get to pick off colossi now? Are you kidding me.

Yeah when I saw that, I instantly thought overpowered.

Yeah when I saw that, I instantly thought overpowered.

If there's one thing I've seen over the years with SC and SC2, it's that Blizzard works hard to make sure the races are balanced.

I'm not worried over a few early previews of units that won't even appear till next year.

Oh yeah, I have full confidence in Blizzard to balance it. I just wonder if they're balancing for the experienced players and that those of us who don't know all the best strategies or don't know all the best counters might just get totally screwed over by some of the new units because we don't know what we're doing.

Well good players always come up with something to counter. Other non pro people just learn it through other people.

Blizzard did say those new units are not final. They scrapped many units they worked hard for before they released SC2.

Yep. This is important to remember.

Does anyone else feel like the new addition will shift the game to more spell casting? I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, just players will need to do more of it in order to do better(only applicable to non expert players, as good players do a ton anyway).

from the video commentary, it seems that the "big ball of units" is already present in the game, and they are trying to present alternative forms of gameplay. Which usually means spellcasters.

I think they are trying to provide players a way to break the ball of death that everyone builds eventually.

I actually want dark archons back! Best Zerg counter ever!

Considering how terrans get the shredder, which is basically the lurker with 5x the dps and AOE damage, and the protoss basically just get "!@#$ you zerg" units everywhere, I don't think you're going to be complaining much.

Terrans will complain regardless.

I mean, do you remember when people though of the muta "magic box"? Terran players were whining all over the forums "OMG, I NEED MORE THAN 1 THOR TO BEAT 20 MUTAS NOW! IMBA! FIX!"

BUT THEY ARE IMBA! :P

There's a map knocking around that gives you access to the HotS units. They use the wrong models, the animations are broken, there's probably a few balance changes not in there and likely doesn't have the right tech tree, but it gives you an idea of what the units will be like. I've found that leaving a Swarm Host near expansions (both yours and ones your opponents might take) is rather annoying: forces a little retreat when they attack your expansions if they don't have detectors giving you time to come down with some units and if your opponent isn't watching, it can cost them an expansion.

EDIT: Put Lurker instead of Swarm Host, silly me.

I miss lurkers. They were amazing. I remember boxer killing a lurker with a marine. Crazy micro. He was too focused on killing the lurker, he forgot about his main army ROFL. People were like OMFG he got a lurker with a marine?! (and seconds later) OMG he just let his entire army into a stop lurker trap!

Is there a list of the new HotS units somewhere?

It's the first I hear of it. Went on the website to see trailers, I was relieved to see Kerrigan didn't go soft, and that the Zerg campaign will, indeed, involve leading zerg units.

There. Yeah they revealed new units while ago. They are not final however. Some of them might be chopped off.

"MOAR SPLASH", basically. Just what the zerg needed, a bunch of units to more effectively tear their low-HP units apart.
