Title: Character stuck (Bug?)
Post by: Logar on March 14, 2016, 07:18:57 PM
My character: Sharn 'The One Armed'

I think she is stuck on the ferry between Medina and Paisly. She has been on it for nearly 4 days. It says she has 1 hour to arrive, but it has said that since the moment she embarked on the ferry. No hours have accumulated, and her fatigue is slowly increasing (33 now i think). She cannot return because she has no hours in her pool.

Is it just me being impatient, or missing something? Can it be looked into please.
She is a brand new character, so the simple solution can be to delete her and start afresh, but that doesn't solve the original issue...if it is a bug.

Cheers.

Dont know if it was GM intervention or not, but she arrived this morning. All seems well.
Thanks.

I've made Vita aware of this thread.

Not sure he fixed something or it was intentional.

Thankyou,

If i recall, the travel time said something like 44 hours travel, but after 3 - 4 days I felt that something was wrong.
As said, looks ok now.

Then it's probably what Vita told me earlier today, travel time could have been right (44 hours). But if you report it's been saying '1 hour till arrival'.. That's something we might have to look in, 'cause that ain't correct.

Ok, this evening i hitched a ferry ride from Port Nebel to Mimer. Had full pool (16 hours) so it allowed me to board. I remember the travel time being 35 hours before I boarded.

Now boarded I have 0 hours in pool (which is expected?) but the travel time left is 1 hour (which is a minor buggy bit)

You are currently between Port Nebel (City, D'Hara) and Mimer (City, Astrum).
You should arrive there in about 1 hour.

I will countdown to see how long it takes me to arrive, to conclude if there is a bug on this part or not, as I thought I may have had previous.

I'll be boarding a long ferry ride with my advy in a few hours; will make careful notes and add them to this post

Thanks, that should make it a lot easier for us!

Small update;

Its been 18 hours (1 turn change) since boarding the ferry.  0 hours in pool, still says 1 hour to arrive.
Fatigue has risen from 30 to 45. Is this normal?
She carries no gold at all, if this has any influence on things.

Another update:

25 hours (2 turn changes) since boarding the ferry. 0 hours in pool, still says 1 hour to arrive,
Fatigue risen from 30 to 52.

I now get this message because I am too fatigued, which is expected I guess.

You are tired and exhausted, too fatigued to be doing very much.

You can access the resting options and that is it, until you have recovered a little.

Problem is I cannot do anything (read messages) until I have rested. The message directs me to the resting options...But I cannot access the menu to rest because I am sailing(ferry)
Am I going to die of fatigue?  :o
Also, it has turned to Winter during my sail. I don't know if this will affect the length of my journey.

yeah, be quicker to make a new char, than to sit and rest for days. I'm so poor I haven't even got a tent  :o

I will be keeping this char btw  :)

Here's what I have so far. I'm making a guess that the internal hour counter for the trip is ok, it is only the display "1 hr to arrive" that is broken and making it feel "stuck"

Golden Farrow ((rogue))
ferry, 656 miles, ca. 39 hours

You are now en route to Golden Farrow. Estimated time of arrival is 31 hours from now.

Reduced from 16 to 8 hrs, so that all matches

After turn,

You are currently between Port Raviel (City, D'Hara) and Golden Farrow (City, (rogue)).
You should arrive there in about 1 hour.

Do you still have 8 hours in your time pool? How many should you have after next turn change?

As soon as I boarded, my time pool dropped to zero and has stayed there. Again I'm not sure if this is how it should be or not.
So even if I could get to the resting option, I would never have any hours in time pool to do it :)

This turn I have dropped to 0 hrs; my fatigue is going up (at 25 as I write)

It says I "You should arrive there in about 1 hour."

----

The hour just flipped; hours stayed at 0 & fatigue went up by 1 to 26. Assuming the hour was automatically put toward travel, but I guess that's what we are debugging :-)

Another update:

36 hours (3 turn changes) since boarding the ferry. 0 hours in pool, Have no options to do anything at all due to fatigue now standing at a record 63  :D

Its just clipped over the projected travel time of 35 hours, but turn change came about an hour before, so In theory I should hit dry land at turn change this evening.

An hour to go until turn change, it seems I have gained 6 hours in my time pool. It looks like I have landed, but probably not yet registered until turn change (which probably seems right).

Sharn has arrived.
Perhaps I miscalculated on my first ferry trip. There is that slight bug with the arrival time showing 1 hour, but Im sure that is merely asthetics.

I hope this has been helpful, perhaps the GM's have spotted other anomolies.... Otherwise, thanks for watching  8)

Thanks for your time, and sorry if its been a waste.

Sharn is now going to hide under a rock and sleep for a week to rest her almost 70 fatigue :D

Started to travel with advy from Perdan mines towards Venas (21 hours) had 16 on the pool and 1 fatigue.
From the beginning it put hours to 0 and said i would arriwe in 1 hour. Now its been 10 hours and still saying 1 hour to arriwe and fatigue raised to 11. So, im atleast 5 hours late... I'm afraid ferry has Captain Chettino...

Thank you all, this has been very helpful and it seems other people are witnessing the same frustrations regarding the '1 hour till arrival' thingy. That is definately something that we should fix.

We will be investigating further on this, but this research has already proven to be very clear and helpful!

On a similar note:

we have all noticed fatigue increasing whilst using a ferry; It doesn't increase though, when using a ship/sailing.
Is this intentional? or a bug?

Or is it a case that on a ferry you have to earn your fare working in the kitchens ect, which is of course tiring work  :P

You think advies have it so easy as to just pass their time in the kitchen? They're conscripted into rowing the ferries! ;)
