Green Dragon isn't anything special. We don't have serious role-play, we don't have epic PvP, we aren't a trending niche server such as the Hunger Games. We're just your basic semi-Vanilla SMP experience. If you're tired of all the servers with huge command lists, where you need a reference manual just to play, then why not stop by. We're friendly, have a small community, and a fresh map.

We've enabled Votifier! Vote daily on PlanetMinecraft for a diamond!
Features:
- No white-list - Join and play immediately. Once you've looked at the signs in the spawn, you are free to venture forth without any more hurdles. No needing to wait for white-list approval, or for an admin to rank you.
- No bloat - We don't have tons of useless plugins. We have just the basics to give you an enjoyable Vanilla experience. There is no need to memorize tons of commands.
- Effortless area protection - Never fear griefing again. You can claim whole chunks just by building on them. No commands, no waiting for admins, no hassle.
- Legitimate - Everything you see outside the spawn was built the hard way. Nobody, including admins, get to spawn items, ever, for any reason.
- Friendly community - We're nice people. And we like to play with other nice people.
- Small community - Right now, Green Dragon is still a small community of players. You can easily get to know everybody.
- Fresh map - We just started up, so the map is wide open for settlement. We feature large biomes, so finding the right spot for you should be no problem at all.
- Community website - We also have a community website with news, indie game reviews, tutorials, and forums. Sign up with your Minecraft username to import your avatar.
NOTE: Do not join and ask to become a mod or admin. If you do, you disqualify yourself forever from such a position.

I've played on an iConomy server before, and I must say... you need active admins/mods to keep it running, and probably a broad player base.
Anyway, I'll be checking it out soon.

Yes, I'm aware it can be hard to get the money flowing to begin with. I've a few ways I plan to deal with hat. Implemented right now are, of course, bounties on hostile mobs. I was also planning a daily 'stipend' for logging in, or awarding players for how many blocks they create/destroy.
And of course, I'm active daily. The broad player base I'm working on.

I'll check it out later, when I'm at home. I like that game, though I have yet to achieve anything truly impressive, construction-wise. Most of my achievements are rather simple buildings, towers, and rail networks. I must say I love building suspended rail networks, but damn does it take a lot of gold...

I spawned at night... Died a few times fending off the mobs. Then I realized there was a box of freebies, but I couldn't open it. Had to bust it open to get stuff. I then placed the box back, but it wouldn't let me put the freebies back in. Sorry. :/
Now it's bugging out a bit.

I met someone, he wouldn't respond to me. I whacked him once, he didn't seem happy. We fought. He killed me, but then I respawned right next to him and finished him off. He had a ton of stuff on him. Kinda looked like he had griefed people. :/

Confirmed, he had destroyed the box and the signs at the spawn.

We had a couple griefers, actually. We don't ban them though... we put them in jail so we can point and laugh.

Your jail is too hidden for us to point and laugh at them. Needs to be close to the spawn for all to enjoy.

Also have a quickly growing community of people, some from BM and others wandering in from other places.

Yes, the server is usually full in the evenings (US time). If it keeps growing, I'll need to purchase a bigger tier of hosting.

Alright, the server is finally "finished", and everything is exactly how I want it configured. If you visit, be sure to follow the signs I'll be placing to the hamlet of "Winterfell" (yes, I know it's shameless). Chénier is assistant mayor of the town, and plan on building an epic castle... built of snow.

Meh, I don't think I'd mind. I haven't had time to play in a while, and it's not like what I did took *that* much effort to do.

Yeah, I looked at your castle, and it had been griefed some.
I'm not 100% happy with our map simply for the reason that there is all that open plains right there by spawn, and nobody wants to build there. Makes the map look deserted when you join. But putting aside that, I'm not sure I want to restart the map, either. People have done quite a bit of work.

At the request of the regulars, we started messing around to find a map that was less boring. I was the only person who hadn't really built anything, so I didn't mind that much. The winning map looks better, I must admit, and has some epic mountains. I updated the first post with some screenshots.

Texture pack is Sphax PureBDCraft (http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/sphax-purebdcraft-46664/).
The map, quite frankly, is epic. The more we explore, the more we love it. I built a eyrie atop the mountain I took those snapshots from, and I carefully grew a forest so thick it blocks out the sun and rain.

Sorry, I was working on the server at that time, so I had it whitelisted to prevent people from joining. You can join anytime. Be advised we moved to a better host due to the lag, and got a bigger server as well, so the IP has changed. I'll update the first post to reflect this.

I don't have money to put toward this right now (other games have priority), but I'd like to check it out. It looks like one can try it on the browser or something. I should check that out. Looks like one has to buy it even to try it.

Try updating java to the most recent version by going on their website, it helped fixed many issues for me.
You can try a free classic mode on their website if you want. Basically, it's unlimited of everything and no bad guys. I personally don't find that to be much fun, creative mode doesn't really appeal to me, but it's an idea I guess of what the game looks like. You can look up tutorials on youtube to see what others are doing to have a better idea of what gameplay is like and what you can do in it.

Well that's certainly a problem for a java-based game.
Are you using a x64 OS? I think there are different versions of java if you use a x64 OS. I had to dig a little to find it, I think.

I don't know why, but I can never play on the server in the morning. It just won't let me. Evenings are fine, though (thank god).

That's odd. The server is definitely up in the morning, because I've played on it myself at that time. Most everyone is on in the evenings, however. I haven't ever seen a single person on before noon Central time.

For some whacky reason, I think it has to do with my ISP. On evenings I have no problem, On the mornings, when I switch network, I manged to play a few days back.
Mind you, since then, that wireless network no longer works at all.

Right. Turns out, a medieval fantasy role-play server was simply too niche to become very popular. I shut it down, and opened a vanilla SMP server that's been very active. We typically have anywhere between eight and twenty-five players on, so if you want to drop by, I would welcome you to do so.

Is this still online? The link you provided is dead.
I've bought minecraft 2 months ago, I only played offline up to now, but I'd like to try the multiplayer version. Don't expect amazing levels of activity from me though.

No, this was shut down. We all decided to move to other games such as GW2, so the server was discontinued. I don't think any of us intend on returning to Minecraft, at least for the foreseeable future.
