Title: Can you be elected to more than one government position.
Post by: Bronnen on August 21, 2016, 07:42:36 PM
Currently the character is the ruler, but the general position just opened up.

A player said that you can't hold both unless you get elected to t hem on the same turn. I'm pretty sure that's false, but I'm asking to make sure.

Does the same apply if a ruler appoints himself to that open position?

Just appoint yourself. You will be the ruler, judge, general, and banker! You will become the embodiment of your realm!

That reminds me of the Barony of Makar...a distant Atmaran memory

I am pretty sure I was able to appoint myself a general when I was a ruler. Maybe it depends to governing system?

It absolutely does. I forget the details off the top of my head.

EDIT: Did a quick look. Cannot appoint yourself to council positions in democracies and republics. Cannot appoint yourself as judge in a monarchy. Theocracies and tyrannies rulers must be able to appoint themselves to any council position. I do think those you cannot appoint yourself to can still be acquired by winning in an election. But really, unless you really cannot find anyone to hold the position, share the power!
