Title: The Siege of Domus
Post by: McTang on May 10, 2017, 07:58:45 AM
Damn that was fun. Weeks in the making, can't remember the last time I was that excited about something in a game.

Curious what people think of the battle strategies employed? Beyond the obvious (Fallangard joining the fight next time, Eponllyn not using Marshall settings), what do y'all think each side could / should have done differently?

I'm not all about line settings and tactics. I was just happy GX didn't show up to help their allies.

Caligus just lost their capital trying to defend GX while they are simply having fun in MoI  ::)

GX remembers the siege of Ibladesh. It took us months to recover after that and Domus would have been worse. And even if we had, the TO was done on the turn of battle anyway. I still can't believe Domus was left uncovered.

Your team had ours in checkmate this round.

Negative, takeover calculations are done after battles. So in general, if Caligus' side would have won, the TO would have been stopped at 96-98%.

I am very sad that I did not have the chance to die gloriously in that battle

It would be great if I didn't get wounded for 2-3 days so I could join in on the post-battle messages. I currently have 90 news that I can't read and it's driving me crazy!  :o

Harte Family: Hyperion (Aurvandil), William (IVF), Katrina (Fronen), Callandor II (Ohnar West)

My my that's an old family! But speaking of being wounded, is there anything listed that I can look up that gives more insight into the mechanics behind the likelihood of being wounded or captured?

This sort of stuff was exactly why I was all about getting some real wars started in the North when I was still there. "Recover our warrior spirit", my char said. "Not totally suck when the time of war comes", was I thinking. Oh well  ::)

Neither his nor my character are wounded due to battle. Those damn pesky Sirionese infiltrators...  >:(

I am kind of thinking it would have been better to march out a day prior. Hit Domus, wait a turn to heal before rallying, and have the allies march in on the same turn the rally was conducted. Probably would have lost both battles, but perhaps could have killed enough Vix CS to stop the TO? Two battles might have been enough to drop their CS below the necessary limit to continue a TO.

Good strategy. You shall be General henceforth!

Aye, I wish I had known about the auto-delete after 120 days of being in a deep freeze. Apparently all the info is still on the servers of those lost accounts. There is a feature that could be put into play which connects old family histories with new accounts. Just need a dev to put some time into it which isn't likely since there is always so much else to do or fix! Wish I knew how to code to help them out..

Anyways, back to the original discussion. I hope there are more major battles like these. Wicked fun!

Not so much 'connect to new account'. There's not nearly the info preserved to 'restore' the account, but we do plan to make old family histories viewable by anyone (possibly, publicly to anyone without an account).

Either way, very cool! I won't hold my breath for the feature but look forward to browsing through old family histories sometime in the future!

When did Vix hit 31 nobles?  :o

Couple days ago. Quite a few are new players to the game though so there's a chance they might leave. But if not.. we can soak up half of Caligus or GX  8)

That is outstanding! The game has been on such an unfortunate decline the past few years, but this past year we have had a few key players around that have put serious effort into recruiting new players. Everyone who enjoys this game are truly in their debt!

None of my realms aside from Vix get nobles  :(

Wait out for it. When JeVondair recruited a bunch of people, they mostly just had characters in GX. They were new players checking out a new game with a friend. Now, however, the ones who stayed and like it have branched out and you see a lot of GX family names on other continents.

I think the same will happen with these new player in Vix. The ones that like it will stay and create new characters on different islands. Just takes some time to get a feel for the game.

I also think the EC is the most exciting island currently in BM. There is a true continent wide war going on, so people are more drawn in by that. In comparison, Dwilight is all spread out with minimal war, BT is winding down a Daimon invasion, and the Colonies are... well... *shudder* the Colonies...

Did the execute him?
No, deported him to The Colonies

A fate worse than death.

An actual conversation that happened in GX

Archibald was getting rather upset that GX was taking away his Cookie supply. He was most gleeful when we captured Blint and he was able to exile him to the Colonies.

I actually just started a character in the Colonies. Was very surprised to get nearly a 700 gold tax income from Giblot. Might have to stay there for a while  ???

I have a char that got deported to the Colonies. Damn that island sucks. But after sitting around training Infil for 30 days my skill should be much better.

Yeah I was super surprised. I only started there in order to move my character to the South Island but now I don't know if I want to go. Kind of want to boost my family wealth to 2,500 so I can start investing in other regions. It's because there's no one else here - only the Duke and I have estates in the city of Giblot and the Duke keeps boosting production.

In other news, the Vix-Caligus battlefront is on a stand still as we TO Scio and both sides waits for the other to make a move...

It is still amazing. I would definitely not mind a few weeks there, it's like a holiday where you are actually paid to be there  8)

A shame you lost your old account, though. I would have loved to have met Callandor II in the other side of the battlefield. That would have done wonders for RP material.

Oh how I wish I had kept it alive!! The rich history, the characters, and the family fame/wealth of 22/5500!

Although now that I know how to play the game and work the characters I have managed to get to 9 fame in less than 3 months. Just need to work on that family wealth. I care about the realms I am in too much right now to just filter all my tax gold to my family.
