BM General Discussion / Re: Number of Players Lost Since Glacier?
« on: April 11, 2014, 01:01:31 AM »
The end result of this whole ordeal is that it was a very very bad show. Instead of allowing us to fight and show that we can hold our place, you had to force an artificial destruction of land that was invetable and could not be avoided. In my opinion, a fair challenge is the thing to go and allow players to determine their fate (bad outcome is good as long as it is your own fault).

Since the developers insist that this is the way to do it, there ain't much options left for me. For my part, I will start getting rid of my characters and I will not promote this game any longer. Game over so to say.

We realize that losing to a game event sucks. But we had to do something about the dropping density. With this event, rather than a "boom, bye" island sinking, we give players a chance to play it out and ultimately decide if and which realms die.

It doesn't suck if it is your own fault. In other words, if those realms affected get them destroyed by themselfs and are forever gone after that, that is quite fine. That is the spirit of the game, like in Belueterra. I liked that how it played out as players themselfs got a fair change and outcome was more or less based on that. This was actually what I was expecting this time. But currently it doesn't seem to be so.

Proceed with caution, this post contains spoilers.

I think the ending in ME3 was one bold and excelent. It took quite some time to figure out what actually happened there because it didn't make any sense. I stress the word any.

I recommend to check the annexes and information the game spreads about reapers, what shephard experiences and then think again what actually happens during the game from the very beginning to the ultimate end. They are really subtle hints and when the final scene starts, I kind of expected the final showdown with Illusive Man and Harbinger. Instead you get a kid telling you that well we are here to kill organics to protect them from developing synthetic race that would destroy them. And then the kid proceeds freely to tell that well hey you can go and destroy us like that but makes sure that the two other options look much better and the game even colors the destroy option with red, common "bad boy" choice. But it still shows Anderson walking towards it. And with a pistol that has unlimited ammo you can go and destroy it.

Think about the dreams shephard sees, shadows here and there as the game processes, whispers, kid running forward and ultimately they start to end where both shephard and the kid burns.

If you don't get what I am saying, please go and read what the game has been saying about indoctrination from the very beginning. It just comes together so beautifully.

And you only survive if you gather enough support and still press on choosing the option to kill the reapers.

It was either a briliant execution or biggest blunder Bioware ever made if this really was their "end" they figured out.

Yeah, the whole Vashmere "family" quite a source of fun and conflicts at least in Atamara. I believe Dafayo was mostly active around Eston, that university stuff or something. Good times.

Allthough I think Vatticus was one of the most entertaining characters. At the beginning he simply went from realm to realm, pissing people up trying to get every realm to ban him. Eventually he came to Darka and lurked in the countryside hunting monsters as "Dog of Darka".

Well played.
