When I started playing I was thinking that it's cool and interesting to have several characters on several different continents. I have to admit I was wrong. Most interesting moments were when I would concentrate on only one character. Then it's lots of interactions, decisions to make etc. Meanwhile other characters are just zombies. Even when I have a lot of free time I cannot play few characters to full extent. Maybe it is just me... However, I see a lot of zombie-characters around, who wouldn't even respond of you write them. Maybe their players also are too distracted playing 6 chars in one time?

Sadly, for two my unpaused characters (I have some paused too) it's like nothing happens for months. I suppose, if everyone would concentrate on only one character, we would have more struggle, more interactions and more fun.

Yeah, would be sad if Perdan wouldn't be able to survive. I actually want them to become stronger and be a good enemy.

All this is quite entertaining 8)

So, flames, if you are active and are fun to interact with you will start achieving your character's goals soon enough. If you're doing your best but being absolutely ignored - emigrate. That's the best advice I can come up with.
I myself am not that new anymore and I recieved some titles, and all is ok for me. I just pointed out the fact that it is a bit discouraging when someone who made no effort to campaign wins against a person who actually worked on it. And maybe a new player would decide not emigrate, but leave the game. I don't think any strict rules should be made about this, but if pleyers would support political discussions who knows - maybe we would have more interesting power struggles. Sometimes it looks like people are too afraid to elect unreliable character - but come one, this is a game.

Well, it is understandable that your character is a part of family, and it is logical that a person from respected family would get elected/appointed without much effort.

However, try to look at this from the other side. I am relatively new player and when I just came, I saw (and participated myself) a lot of elections where member of young unknown family would be very vocal and trying to run a nice campaign, but the title would go to a character from old family, who barely wrote a message. It is quite meh from the new players point (why the !@#$ should I ever try campaigning, if old player will get the title anyways).

Eduardo, regarding your case,
Just pointing my opinion, as I can't do it in forums.
(If you any of you want to post it in forums, sure. If not, you welcome to reply for me in person)

To be honest, I do not agree with this 'Place Holder' reasoning.
I do not see too much of Power Struggle either in this case either.

However, part of Government rules is:

    Try to guide, not order
This is a game, not the military, even if it simulates a martial society. Try to guide people. Work with suggestions and help and leave people their autonomy. A strict hierarchy of orders and blind followers is more efficient, yes. It also causes people to lose the fun and leave the game.

It could be done otherwise, and it could be avoided.
But the fact Erik actions were more of an order and threaten, then...
The guy won a valid election, and in some ways you can say his autonomy was defiled.
(no idea which lords voted for him though, nor why the previous lord was not released sooner)

So, I think they could even enforce that rule in that case.
I do hope to see you come and play in full speed and don't let it affect you much.

Oh, and Piro...
(I guess you would be reading it too)

As I understood, you said him smth like "leave, coz we have the law", not "leave, coz I don't like your face".

Erik consider himself as ruler of Avamar, so from my point of view it's more like...
Let say it reminded me the scene from Judge Dredd movie (starring Sylvester Stallone), when he says - "I am the Law".
(so something like - 'I'm am the Law ! ; Resign from lordship, that is Rhiannon region, this is your final warning !!!')

I'm back to my business, have great day everyone !

***********
That is NOT rant about the titans. So, don't make it one.
Also, I do NOT try to start public conversation about the issue, just a way to see if someone can post in forums my opinion.

No one ever said he was not the Lord of Montijo. Erik forced him, being Lord or not, to leave so he can appoint someone else.
As I understood, you said him smth like "leave, coz we have the law", not "leave, coz I don't like your face".

From my point of view the problem here is that the realm adjusts ooc game mechanics with weird ooc rules. How it is roleplaying to hold elections for lord and then have a law that elections winner is not a true lord? I don't see any rp logic in this rule. Thus, the rule/law itself is ooc and it was not very right to use it in your rp power struggle.

You can't make a rule saying that people must spend a certain amount of time in realm in order to hold a position, or be included in a particular group.
Do you have a list of realms where such a rule is officially present? I never seen that. And if it's unofficial, how would you enforce it?

Maybe we should better think how to motivate people to actually set goals for their characters and participate in power struggle? Because most characters are just silently following orders.

10
In smaller and weaker realms it's usually not a problem at all to get into some position.

Sure, it's too little power struggle overall in all game - potentially it could be much much more. However, the game is not a job, I don't see why player should work to make the game interesting to other players.

I adjust my strategy to everything - situation in my realm, my enemy, my allies, etc.

Well, at last it wasn't some stupid angry peasants (like with Geralt the withcher) :P

Most annoying spies are those planted in the realm just to spy and those "brothers from different realms". Having IG dissatisfied noble selling his realm to the enemy or getting info from character who is both yours and your enemy friend - IMO, is quite interesting and OK.

Bad things what spies sometimes do (except forcing people to make secret circles for important discussions) - they destroy smartass strategies. Yes, if you have clear advantage and your goals in the war (take this or that region) are clear enough, spies can't do much harm. But if you are trying to outsmart your enemy, provoke them, pretend that you are going to one region and go to the another instead, make traps - then all this is pointless if you have spies. It is a bit sad, because smart starategies can be more thrilling and interesting than straighforward ones.
