They are followers of Sartan, so they have big swords. It's a metaphorical mountain, to compensate for things.
Fixed that for ya!

Horus was actually partly responsible. He coveted the ruler's seat, and didn't like the instant influence Arella had.

And now is the critical stage. You have reached the point where you are big enough to trounce everything except the rest of the island...But the rest of the island can, at least in theory, stop you. And unless the rest of the island is stupid (which it's not, not with Galiard around, can't speak for the rest), they realize that. This is where the politicking is going to go absolutely nuts while the Empire tries to stabilize and prepare, and various other groups try to figure out if they can combine.

Pft, Morgan wants Ohnar West and Sorraine to kill each other, he is not a fan of either realm.
I just know that other people may be supporting them from other realms. Or were thinking of doing so, I don't know if they actually are.

You're assuming that Arella/Aenilia was the only person Jenred had discussed that with and received a positive response from (aside from the colony, which was a given). That's a very interesting assumption.
Hopefully, at some point I will finally be able to freaking move and have the time to play power-politics on the FEI again. Rebuilding all of those connections will obviously take time and probably be impossible in some cases [...] I anticipated the next big war after that would either destroy the empire or bring the entire continent under it.

Aenilia could always join the Arcaean Empire. Guaranteed protection, so you could fight anyone you wanted, then. ;)

I don't know that I'd compare GA to Switzerland. Switzerland may be neutral, but they had the most respected mercenaries in late medieval times, and I understand that their military is still rather badass today.

Well, everyone likes to make fun of Switzerland too. ;) In all seriousness, GA's position makes perfect sense out of character and, for the most part, in character. Since most of us nobles are egotistical and quickly angered, we're bound to get mad at GA when they don't do what we want them to do though.

Seems that GA was the great benefited here... That 2000 gold should be more than enough to play around with...

the least we should have is a choice to retain old interface or use new one.

It also makes me wonder... If a ruler who loses his position loses access to the messages he had on that channel, will the new ruler have access to all of the messages that guy sent and received?

I have problems with this.
To some extent, at least, I am conceptually against taking away messages from people who have had access to them, especially when they were the ones they were originally sent to (ie, they were full members of the channel at the time the messages were sent, as opposed to simply gaining access to the messages after the fact).
