Okay, did that. I don't yet see any way for the realm to select a new king. Perhaps the turn after I stepped down?

Currently, we have a ruler for life system. How do we efficiently allow him to retire & select a new ruler-for-life?

Westfold carries its name legitimately. It was formed by the remaining exiles from Asylon and Nisleur from the original monster invasion of West. Our cities overrun and no hope of support (and certainly no sympathy for our plight from the dev team or anyone else) we went east and took up with the only realm that didn't want to submerge us in their culture.

Fueled by promises long kept by the Lurian government we served as the spearpoint of their army against almost all Luria. As just repayment for our service to their emperor, we wrested the new realm of Westfold, so named in honour of our birthplace, from the bones of  old Corsanctum and Morek.

While our realm is one of the newest in Dwilight its antecedents and history are ancient and storied.

Is this a solution in search of a problem?

I have no problems with people missing my decrees, and we're busily & happily at war. Perhaps use fewer words and send out fewer non-essential messages as ruler?

They fell for a couple traps lately, so that could give the appearance of winning.

The Tamirak to Eltorak trap was a thing of beauty. A good part of my enjoyment comes from the trials & tribulations of just such a thing so I appreciate the effort Swordfell is making as an opponent. So much better from my perspective than playing whack-a-mole with monsters & undead.

People in the various religious camps need to recognize that RP is co-operative and that even though you may think that your idea and play provides something that should motivate more of us, that other people do not. If religious leaders try to go beyond setting a background to my realm's culture and move into setting constrictions or prescriptions on my realm's policies I'm going to ignore them or use what I find helpful and ignore the rest.

In other words, we don't buy all that you're selling. Try reshaping your RP to be more interesting and helpful to us rather than wailing on why we won't play your way.

There are, however, bloodmoon orchards still growing.

Vakreno Heaps, Mellifera, Unterstrom Vorstadt.

You'll have to know where to look to find the last two.

Vita, face it. ESA is no longer anything but a religion dependent on Lurian favor to have any power.

I think that depends on what you want from a religion or the role you like to play in a religion. From my perspective ESA is almost exactly what I need:

  • it's not monolithic
  • it doesn't demand that my realm cleave to it and obey it above above secular power.
  • it provides a framework that a realm can use to support its war efforts or to support fighting on civilization's frontiers
  • (the above restated) it doesn't require the seeking pf peace and stasis

As a ruler I think of it like the Church of England: useful and an aid to my own interests.

Also, we had a third religion not so long ago with the loss of Asylon, we eventually lost it too.

Andrew's just defined the proper 18th C meaning of the phrase, "well regulated militia."

I've made it quite clear that Luria Boreal wishes to fight this war without Luria Novan intervention.

Ya, I think you're doing your best to spice things up without creating a unwieldly chain of alliance gridlock.

it makes more sense if you are a part of the Ruler's channel, where we basically agreed that Luria Boreal would fight a Theocracy of SA instead of Swordfell. Oh, and D'Hara's ruler went on a rant about how I should attack him if I wanted revenge on those who closed ESA temples. I replied with "the monsters seem to be doing a good job already".

Part of the motivation, I believe, is a determination to avoid large coalition wars or unbalanced conflicts. Instead, if possible, enable limited scale wars that provides each realm with a test, but doesn't turn into something like Luria vs the Southern Coalition.
