I wouldn't mind taking part in this. I have a highly observant eye and served as a tester myself a few times.

Unique items are island specific and you cant move them from island to island. It's probably just an item with the same name?

Its possible but maybe for the sake of RP basis. perhaps say its the same item seeing as its history is pretty vague in its own right? Actually that was something i thought about was updating its wiki with new information. Sadly if that is the one thing i cannot do its make pretty looking wikis.

Ban swooped in and handled mine with a easy suggestion to take it to the feature requests board. so +1 to ban!

Well i finally got my first item in the game. I was so pleased by this i decided to make the advie responsible for it really happy. He wanted to give me the item for free but i said no and changed his offer to 20 gold. Its when i discovered the item he sold me had a history and a +7 prestige effect. I decided to be generous and give him a recommendation on top of it.

So what was your initial reaction to receiving your first item from a total stranger?

Awhile back before my character took the seat of High Marshal in Caligus. There was a incident regarding the previous high marshal. He became sponsor of both armies of Caligus when Dobromirs player deleted him. However this transition went without any issue. Its when the former High Marshal was banned from the realm that problems arose. By the time his ban was issued a new king was established in the realm with several dukes and lords re-assigned.

At that time i was Marshal of one army and another noble the marshal of another. When the High Marshal was banished all armies were immediately disbanded save for the marshals of the armies. It caused us a incredible amount of trouble re-assigning everyone back to where they belonged. Unaware this was actually proper behavior i filed a bug tracker on the situation.

Ban suggested i bring this forth as a feature request.

all details to the issue can be found here.

It might help if you and Jeroen don't mention the word links and such. Sure you can share the pages. But it would help the RP aspect along if you say the wiki is like the great library. We have taken the time to rent out a book and copy it for our own purposes. This "book" aka link is the result of that.

See where i am going.

When the page came up and my characters were not. I actually panicked, I had just gotten one character to High Marshal. Another was finally able to cover a RC upgrade. You can already guess i voted to not sink the island my two characters are on. hahahah

Being a former Admin to a Sci-fi RP community. I can exactly confirm to you how detrimental things like this are. You have your game but people take their discussions outside of it. Something that should never happen no matter what. Because these discussions took place outside of the games environment they end up poisoning the games flow.

That said when i also ran the communities IRC. I made it explicitly clear that if i caught 1 hint of IRC discussions influencing RP's and IC decisions. I would shut it down immediately. Something i actually ended up doing.... After the loss of the IRC (in the community the IRC was the equiv of forummasters and the forums battlemasters) Suddenly you see things become correct and proper again. People started enjoying the notions of PM'ing for the sake of PM's. They started using forum tags to identify if its RP message and such. It simply worked better when the evil was rooted out.

So i for one actually like knowing the locals and RP boards are going to be closed. If people want to preserve their long going stories. They should either write a Wiki page or simply save the discussions to a txt file and carry on in their gameplay.

I personally want to keep EC. EC has a lot of immense history and its the first Island i joined. I have just now started entering into the role of lordship between two realms. I enjoy the people and characters i play with. Plus i want to shove a siege engine into Ibladesh just once!

The issue here is. A player competitive nature forced him to make brash accusations on two other players. His handy work forced them to essentially forget what was fun about this game and leave.

I am a former admin to once large sci-fi RP communities forum. There were many thing s of incredible intrigue. Many things happen but all the players followed a strict code of conduct. The code was simple, don't be a jerk and mix OOC with IC situations. A I was forced to close a lot of RP's that went to far out of the realm of allowance in certain RP themes. Many people got angry at me for these decisions but i didn't make them alone. I had a team (much like how the magistrates and titans are here). We handled things as they came along. However the most common issue of anything is the competitive nature of people. So to take them down a notch my team and the community leaders involved with specific RP forums edited posts. We basically altered te players history as punishment making them lose titles and ranks they worked hard for. This left a incredible impression on them and made them rethink their goals. It told them that this is only a game and that there is punishment if they stepped out of line.

When someones behavior is so extreme to the point that its driving people away. I would perma ban their buns in a heartbeat to preserve the community i tried to keep happy and healthy. Leaving them alone or just swiftly kicking them in the groin with a minimal punishment just wasn't enough for some people and they were easily caught doing it again.

The same applies here. The situation Geronus talks about is if the administrative volunteer task force IE the Magistrates did a good enough job with the situation. I agree given the parameters they were set forth by the developers and Tom himself they did a decent enough job. However while i agreee a harsher punishment should have been considered. We need to keep in mind that Jason did in fact instigate the investigation into these matters after he decided to leave. By technicality Atanamir is only guilty of creating a foul enviroment but wasn't fully responsible for Jasons leaving. So with that in mind the punishment would have to be suitable for someone who likes the game. Something that sends a message and i believe the message was sent. However "IF" the player of atanamir managed to get the ruler position back and start this madness again. Then by that time i would feel he is beyond redemption and remorse and should suffer the greatest penalty there is.

There are other methods outside of a in-game lock that might prove effective. If the player in question is of such detriment to the realm or heck the Islands game play in general. Then he should be exiled from the island indefinitely. A additional course of action would be the route of fining him travel expenses for his characters relocation to another island. Reset their honor and Prestige, heck even going as far as taking fame points away from the player themselves. Taking away someones long worked for achievements stings harder then a permanent ban.

BM General Discussion / Re: Repairing regions
July 29, 2013, 07:53:11 PM
There is always the option of asking the ruler of your realm to come to the region. A rulers presence helps raise loyalty and morale 3-5% each completed full turn. My character Turant was given Igno on EI. Its been 1 1/2 weeks now and the region is now slowly becoming ours. It had 1% loyalty and 1% morale when we started. Heck one player was even so gracious as to donate 350 gold via his family to the region. The production skyrocketed and the regions issues are pretty much done with.

It takes a long time but its worth the hard work. Especially when you're a new lord.

BM General Discussion / Re: Closing Islands ?
July 29, 2013, 07:36:29 PM
Perhaps the magistrates should convene and speak with the rulers of each islands realms. They all talk with each other discussing what will happen. After the discussion the rulers then go to their people and make a OOC Announcement and a referendum is issued. Because the collapse of the island is more of a OOC event with possible IC side effects. The referendums results are then passed onto the devs and the devs make the final call.

While the loss of Jason was extremely tragic. I actually believed the punishment was appropriate, given the tight parameters the magistrates have to work with. lately EI has seen some incredibly good IC developments of which i'm not disclosing. Even a new RP has started in Caligus. The realm is becoming stable with the new king. Along with many things its dying down again. So yeah i think the 3 day removal of atanamir from the game was sufficient to air out the room.
