Heh. I used to play in Barca and recruited just about 12 new players to that realm in the end (and those on their turn invited more players). The 'peace deals' we were receiving from Luria and through the Southern League were being stretched and stretched, so much that Barca was trying to fight off hordes of massive monster CS (I think we broke the record at one point). Even when Asylon was already in Corsanctum (and seemed to be making headway), Luria kept wanting to 'negotiate'. There was no option, the leaders of the realm decided we wouldn't die out fighting monster hordes, if we kept 'negotiating' about how Barca could 'just be helped by D'Hara (who was losing its core regions) and Fissoa' they could 'why don't your allies give u some regions', whilst 50% of the previous Luria Novan regions were rogue  :-\ . If we had kept 'negotiating' we would have lost all of our already depleted armies and would have had to assimilate into another realm, or into Luria Nova itself, which would have been the end of Barca.

So we obviously had to make a move. The rest of the story is that of Luria Nova beating on a dead horse (we couldn't reinforce, kept being teleported back to the west, no gold, just plain boring in general) for several IRL months which has resulted in 90% of the second most populous realm in Dwilight to stop playing. Sad story. We used to have so many RP's and letters written constantly in that realm, it's a shame that OOC'ly people here don't realise that this game would have been better allowing Barca into the western tip of Luria and Asylon into what was Corsanctum. These were the most vibrant realms, guys sometimes you have to look further than your IC to save the game you are all complaining is losing players every day. Think of how much funner the game would have been.

I think most people stopped playing because the 'invasion' towards the East was a big joke that was impossible to achieve. First have to fight your way out of monster-filled land and then take over a city in the east. Ain't gonna happen as the instinctive knee jerk reaction of any eastern realm is 'smash invaders, lol they can't reinforce anyways'. Manage to get captured? Get teleported back west into monster filled lands. One angry player even posted on the forum Barca was going to attack LN long before we had were even ready to leave the west.
At least I saw Barca get a toehold in the east before I quit, trying to achieve something when !@#$ is constantly thrown in your direction isn't 'fun', try playing with 0 gold, 0 troops, 0 mobility for months. Look at Barca now, from 40+ down to 12 players... Sad to see. I remember Asylon and Barca (edit oh and Astrum too) wiki pages were pretty much the only realms on Dwilight actively updating their pages.

Something recently actually made me feel all kinds of emotion at once.  My character Kori started off in Saffalore and upon its destruction joined Barca...blahhh blahh blahh 10 in game years go by.  Kori is banned for murdering Lurian peasants with his rival Chuldah.  The judge who banished Kori is protested out and forced into exile.  Kori then goes to Swordfell and again starts a massive protest against the realms judge due to being banished yet again for starting trouble with Thometheous(The Barcan judge whom banished Kori)  Erasmus is elected Suffete of Barca, Kori's ban is lifted.  Upon his return Kori contracts leprosy in the desert of silhouettes.  The Barcan Lord Justice Childerik goes idle and Kori is elected to replace him.  Now here is the interesting part.

Kori executes a Rogue named Rue whom was "The Hunchback" Chuldah's lover.  Chuldah challenges Kori to a duel, we wound each other(Imagine a hunchback and a leper dueling).  Our Suffete Erasmus tells Chuldah to cut it out and not be angry over the death of a lowly peasant.  Chuldah is offended by this and duels Erasmus.  Chuldah has the lowest possible swordsmanship and Erasmus is a skilled fighter.  Though Erasmus is killed.(Honestly Erasmus is one of the best Characters I have ever seen in battlemaster.  Yes I know there are many good ones but this one actually made me kinda sad when he died.)  Kori then duels Chuldah to avenge his fallen leader and kills the hunchback.  Kori is then elected Suffete of Barca.

All of this over a peasant.......

Of course there is much more fluff in between but for secrecy I cannot reveal the whole story.  I don't feel comfortable talking extensively about an active character.  Seriously Kori is one of the most random characters I have ever had.  I never really had high hopes for him but apparently that's what it takes haha.

I was overloaded with work (and still am).

I remember more than a year ago, exactly on June 10, 2013, at 20:07, I had just started playing battlemaster and used to go on the irc regularly. By then I had convinced 5 people to start playing the game with me (although I had just been playing for a week or so). All of us joined Barca, and everyone just made second characters randomly (if they did at all).

Anyhow, I was a total noob and at the time still hung around on irc to ask questions about the game. Atanamir started talking to me in private and told me on irc (never talked to him before) warning me that he would file a report against all of the new Barca players because apparantly two of the  new players of Barca had joined Caligus ( a realm he was at war with ), first he told me they would only be losing time there (because Caligus would lose anyway) and I should tell them to leave, I told him I didn't control what they did, so then he told me this was clannish and bannable. He told me he'd played BM for nine years and  he would report us if more players joined because it would destabilize Caligus. I told him I would tell the other guys, but no assurances since for my part, they can do whatever they want, and I was asking other people on irc at the same time if it was bannable and they assured me it wasn't, after which he told me it would be ok for us all to join a realm in Atamara (Darka) since there are more players there and it would not destabilize the realm.

After that I stopped using irc quickly. As I kept playing and knew more about the game I was not very surprised to see Atanamir getting into one OOC argument after another, this only of the few that boiled over onto the forums.

I warned the other guys, that I had convinced to play, about this conversation, and they all reacted similarly, it was quite obvious he was trying to intimidate them in leaving by threatening to ban them because he was at war with that realm. Very low in my opinion considering he knew we were all new and didn't know the exact rules. I haven't brought it up since, but it's definitely one of the most messed up things I've encountered playing Battlemaster.

Mysogynist characters are no problem imo. People should be able to see it's a character and not be offended by it.

The trouble with Luria, is that it's full of Lurians, Barcans Fissoans, DHarans Asylonians and Niselites.

It's actually pretty fun right now, all the trouble we are having makes for some fun happenings and stuff :)

But with the character cap, perhaps it would be good for people looking to join later on, to have access to this information? Not to mention it is quite interesting :)

Anyhow the moderator's decision is final but I feel this is perhaps an exception considering circumstances?
