BM General Discussion / Re: GREAT MOMENTS... IN BATTLEMASTER HISTORY
« on: August 28, 2014, 01:19:00 AM »
Something recently actually made me feel all kinds of emotion at once.  My character Kori started off in Saffalore and upon its destruction joined Barca...blahhh blahh blahh 10 in game years go by.  Kori is banned for murdering Lurian peasants with his rival Chuldah.  The judge who banished Kori is protested out and forced into exile.  Kori then goes to Swordfell and again starts a massive protest against the realms judge due to being banished yet again for starting trouble with Thometheous(The Barcan judge whom banished Kori)  Erasmus is elected Suffete of Barca, Kori's ban is lifted.  Upon his return Kori contracts leprosy in the desert of silhouettes.  The Barcan Lord Justice Childerik goes idle and Kori is elected to replace him.  Now here is the interesting part.

Kori executes a Rogue named Rue whom was "The Hunchback" Chuldah's lover.  Chuldah challenges Kori to a duel, we wound each other(Imagine a hunchback and a leper dueling).  Our Suffete Erasmus tells Chuldah to cut it out and not be angry over the death of a lowly peasant.  Chuldah is offended by this and duels Erasmus.  Chuldah has the lowest possible swordsmanship and Erasmus is a skilled fighter.  Though Erasmus is killed.(Honestly Erasmus is one of the best Characters I have ever seen in battlemaster.  Yes I know there are many good ones but this one actually made me kinda sad when he died.)  Kori then duels Chuldah to avenge his fallen leader and kills the hunchback.  Kori is then elected Suffete of Barca.

All of this over a peasant.......

Of course there is much more fluff in between but for secrecy I cannot reveal the whole story.  I don't feel comfortable talking extensively about an active character.  Seriously Kori is one of the most random characters I have ever had.  I never really had high hopes for him but apparently that's what it takes haha.

I have thought more about it, and you are definitely right Tom.  I'm sure when this idea was presented, you guys were gearing yourself up for disappointed people.  Which is inevitable, I realize now.

Play on, deal with the misfortune and make something out of it.  I retract my statement from earlier and am just gonna go with it.  Once again thank you for your time Tom/dev team.

I thank Tom and the dev team for all of their hard work in making this game one of the most enjoyable games ever.

I just don't think forcing players out of their realms across multiple islands is such a good idea.  As previously stated, this idea had nothing to do with the political agenda of each island.  Which is imho a mistake.  There will always be players who come and go.  It is the players who stick with it that notice the certain stagnate play of each island, which again imho is directly associated with each of the islands politics and to a lesser degree noble count.  Yes this is easily fixed by shrinking region count and therefor making noble counts swell in the remaining regions however how could we ever expect to know how this will end up if realm politics stay the same.  Barca and most western realms in dwilight are going to suffer, making us all travel east.  If we fail to make a dent, how will the game change except for removing a large player base from their desired realms.  The same goes for Darka, which has been the only realm capable of fighting the Cagilian/Tara federation.  If they fail to expand and make a change to Atamara, do the politics not stay the same?  It seems like a gamble to me.

I received a message in game asking me to post my feelings on the forum, though I am nervous about it because I don't know what repercussions it might have to to people mistaking my messages as some kind of argument put forward.  This is just my opinion and I in no way wish to make things harder for Tom and the dev team.

I will however continue to play, even if my opinion is invalid or incorrect.  The game mechanic is still to fresh to make a concrete judgement and in my mind there is no reason for me not to continue playing.  Though my excitement has honestly slightly diminished.

What? BoM is still alive? People should just destroy that boring ass realm and build multiple colonies.

This is exactly what myself and another player have suggested.  No response.

i will take that into consideration Dante, and yeah i will admit my statement about Atamara is a little ridiculous

actually not at all, you fail to understand my point.

No Culture
No activity
No community

A message from the tyrant saying that I am banned and being hunted for execution would be a nice thing at this point, at least I would know some one on the throne is watching.

I could personally care less about having a say in the realm

You are right.

My character would rather stay and see it burned to the ground though, there are not many other potentially evil or barbarian like realms in the game.

I guess I should not complain but I could not help but notice and be disgusted a little.

Atamara=boring----proved wrong by dante :P

I just watched a new ruler be elected for the Barony without any message to the realm before or after his appointment.  The culture of this game is becoming stagnant.  Not the game I used to know.

Please someone tell me I'm wrong.
