I was captured after the first battle. But escaped during the second and participated in the third. What an epic escape ;)

Great moment indeed, I was the General of Morek at that time and the tension those days was quite real. I almost got insomnia during the siege!

I don't understand why you complain about boredom, I found Dwilight funny sometimes even more in peace times, there are lots of things to do in several communication channels....if you declare war  out of boredom it can be expected that the RP basis could lack and the outcome not so great

anyway the war is not ended yet and reviving the North East is up to our imagination

(the title of this topic says all....personally it's more fun to imagine a plot, set an objective then move war..if you declare war because of boredom it's not so funny to fight against, no background story, no flavor)

I seldom visit the forum but as current ruler of Morek I want to reply to Arrakis and Brant

@Arrakis:
I don't know why you've a grudge on this. You're accusing Morek players to be bored and to do powergaming but you know nothing about our realm and what is going on. In Morek evertything is in IC and there is much RP, decisions are not taken on wims. We played for years and we value very much the collective story that we've created and what is happening now fit very well.
If we were powergamers the war would have been already ended but it's not the case since other intriguing stories are just starting thanks to this conflict.
I'm putting a lot of effort to keep everything IC  and inline and hopefully fun for other players so these accusations are really ridicolous.

@Brant
Sorry if you feel so bad about this situation but really I don't get why: ok, a bug occurred in Mt Black Nastrond but honestly even with your militia and all you army stationed there Summerdale did not have a chance to keep the Mountain against Libero and Morek (that have their capitals so near that  it'd have been  a continuous attack). Mt Black Nastrond is a key region and obviously Morek don't want that someone who is not his friend control it. Pure strategic thinking that could be expected in  diplomatic game such BM.
The fact is that Dalians did not plan this war carefully, you were ready to destroy the realm of other players and now you're whining that other players want to destroy your realm while this is totally false because the peace conditions have not been disclosed yet IG.
Honeslty I don't care to win or loose (even if you think that I want victory at all costs), I care only to have fun with allies and enemies to invent some new story. You've now a lot of material to enrich the RP of this conflict, this is up to you. If you remain silent you cannot complain that you don't like the story others are developing, giving the impression that who wants to win to ahve fun is you actually.

About boredom: yes Morek after years of wars and a civil war was at peace for some time. Well I've enjoyed it that time. Dwilight is full of things to do wars aside. If someone find a realm boring it's his own fault to not get involved more or to not have inveneted some new story to tell others.

Congratulations. And here I was thinking Daimon Worship with its half million was crazy.

Seriously, wow. Impressive. Now all you need is to play Vatican and start telling the realms within your sphere of influence that the religion sets the politics from now on. :-)

Sanguis Astroism is already like that, like the Catholic Church in Middle Age...just ready for a schism :P

Well, The only thing I didn't like of all this was IT WASN'T REAL!!!

I think the game would be better if things like this could happen from time to time! Monsters than only in singular combat could be destroyed, Monsters invasions, Dragons, tales of relics to be found, etc

A bit more RP!!!  ;D

BM is great also because it's mostly player Vs player but there is some room for players Vs gamemasters (lots in BT, less in Dwi). It'd be bad imho if all islands turn to be players Vs gamemasters.

I heard lot of people who wants Netherworld attacking everywhere maybe because things in their realm are boring right now but low fun it's players' fault, it cannot been solved by gamemaster

It is in the nature of all but the most shallow of jokes that some people enjoy them and some don't. Especially in this day and age, you probably can't make a joke without offending someone. People have not only lost the ability to laugh about themselves, more importantly they've lost the ability to laugh about others without feeling guilty.

!@#$ political correctness.

Who was offended? The joke was too in game in my view. That's the only critic I read about it, don't think someone get offended by this

IF it's a joke (probably it is) it's a really bad one because too IG and ruined the atmosphere

ELSE IF it's not a joke, bye bye Battlemaster and welcome HumansVsDaimons

You are joking right? Until recently the Zuma didn't HAVE a CS advantage, at least not compared to realms like Astrum. These large armies are a recent thing.

Get OVER the idea that the Zuma are the antagonist of the island. They might be that is true, but their is nothing to suggest that actually is there role. In fact if we look at how things have panned out recently it would appear that they are more a resource for canny player antagonist to use, with the associated risks if you don't approach things correctly.

This is the interesting thing of the Zumas indeed. They're not the regular Daimons from pop culture (comics, movie, etc).

They're a localized force tough, in East Dwilight they don't play any role and this causes a "shift" in players' experience on Dwilight.

Yawn

I'm bored.  Lets go pick a fight somewhere.

Don't you have a brand new realm to take care of? And a couple of not-so-happy-to-see-you neighbours?

Dwilight / Re: Aurvandil's War Machine

I remember when Morek fought Thulsoma and the Saxons used the exploit. Some people considered it irritating and frustrating, personally I enjoyed that war as it was a real challenge. Moreover I never saw Morek players focus so much on the game and improve their effort so in the end, it's good that the exploit has been solved (and that we won the war of course) but in gaming temrs I'd see this as an exciting challenge if I was a player of Madina or of the Moot.
Fighting a clan standing in a regular realm with not-so-active players from different timezones (and perhaps with a real life to take care) it's more rewarding.

Feature Requests / Bandits: a new rogue unit type
January 27, 2012, 03:10:57 PM
We've Monsters, we've Undead, how about a human based rogue unit?

In Middle Ages and since XVIII century, Europe was filled by organized bandits who control rurals regions sometime.

It'd be nice to see them in BM. They could be like a low trained, ranged 3, archer unit that can pop up in rurals (spawning more likely in loosely control regions) and instead of eating peasants, they can loot stealinjg gold.

The problem is that we don't actually have any sea-travel in the game. All we have are "roads" that we don't call roads, but sea-lanes.

I'd really like to have a better system, maybe treating water as regions-that-you-can't-do-anything-in like many other games do.

But that's for the future.

That would be great, even if I like BM as "terrestrial" game. I imagined that thanks to the new map system you devs could calculate distances between ports and add more "sea roads", at will with ease. This topic is not a request, it's just that as a player I'd like to "live" more the inner sea of Dwilight

Dwilight / Why fixed sea routes?
January 21, 2012, 06:46:52 PM
One of the few thing I don't like of Dwi is how the inner sea travels are managed. In the BM world there are ships capable to do trans-oceanic routes between continents so why there are  so few below coast routes in the inner sea? I think it'd be better to have free routes meaning you can travel from one port to any other in the inner sea or at least much more than now (for instance now from Aegir you can just go to Freke, it'd be more realistic and fun if you can reach also Mimer, Eidulb and Libidzedd directly).
What do you think?

That's not spam, that's a hint to all the other nobles to welcome the new person.

I agree with that. To hold new players is better that many realm mates welcome him/her in public. If not the new players see a desert place and won't come back again or individual messages tha maybe repeat the same things

I remember in Eston an year ago there was some players that did silly and annoying talks to the whole realm, nobody cares about but they did insist until they got annoyed too and quit...well they didn't seem discouraged by clicking twice. So in the end if someone want to spam he'll do anyway, if someone wants to send a regular messages maybe sometimes he's discouraged by the "go to Messages page...etc"

Just a question:

how a simple "Reply to the whole realm" link had increased "spam"? And what does it means spam in BM context?
