BattleMaster Expansions / Re: Beyond the Blight - not selling well ?
« on: January 13, 2012, 11:18:19 PM »
I mostly play BM to make my own stories more than hear those of other people, and until recently I'd never played on Beluaterra.  These two things combine to make the price more than I'm currently interested in paying, particularly since I still have a huge body of free (or very, very cheap) literature to work through on my Kindle.

At least with Allison forming her own realm, things might get interesting in the SA church as we will no longer have anyone to unite against...
Perhaps you need to re-examine that sentence.  Your first statement and your last may not necessarily bear the relationship you posit.

That said, Mathurin's growing more fond of Allison.  She must be getting tame  :D

It's more of a willing misunderstanding. My character looked at it and kinda convulted it to fit into his previously very devout worship of tor... don't feel bad!
Oh, that's fine then - wilful misconceptions are perfectly acceptable!

Daemon and daimon are both transliterations of Greek.  They basically mean 'spiritual messenger', but divinity back then didn't always come with a smile.

Demon is from the same Greek root, but is a later Christian transliteration with added 'evil!'.

SA has you seeking to control the influence of the stars (to succumb to their influence renders you mad, sinful)

Either you have seriously misunderstood the message of SA or, more likely, I've seriously failed to express it!

Dwilight / Re: What is and what should be SMA?

At risk of bringing things back vaguely towards the topic; the problem is that SMA is an atmosphere, and one that's hard to define, quantify and differentiate.

More than anything, it's about attitude.  That's something that can't easily be policed.

Now continue on your little charade of predicting the future of BM and how this war will turn out. I've had my two cents for now..

I don't think it's a charade, I think people are just having fun predicting what will happen.  Playing another game.

It's been making even the largest and chattiest realms seem peaceful and calm.

Woah, I had no idea some players actually considered that there was even an "endgame" in BM.
Perhaps you misunderstand what I mean by end game.  I merely mean that to which a character aspires.

I think one of the limitations of a Captain character would have to be that he didn't get to control his own movement.  Where his noble went, he would automatically go as well.  However, he could have actions of his own to perform that would mitigate the potential boredom.

I guess the obvious question is: what's the end game for a Captain?

For a noble there are several: becoming a Duke, a council member, founding a religion, etc.  For an adventurer there's becoming a noble.

What is a Captain aiming for?

I could tell you, but then I'd have to brutally take you over.

How about the rules of usage (cruelly abused in your post) of the humble apostrophe?

If everyone claims they want unique culture and identity then how come they aren't participating in something I think is a catalyst to Dwilight wide originality.
People want unique culture and identity, but many (most?) don't have the time, or don't have the inclination, or don't feel they have the ability to significantly contribute towards it.

It's up to those who do have the time, inclination and ability to shoulder the burden and create awesomeness!  ;)

Hmm, Mathurin passed a University guildhouse recently.  Perhaps he should sign up to see what they've got in their library.

BM General Discussion / Re: Titan System Revalation
« on: April 15, 2011, 11:02:19 PM »
Are there enough players not on any given island to act as an increased pool for Titans as has been suggested above?  I think the vulgarity assessment process works pretty nicely.

If there is a call for Titan intervention on, for example EI, and three random players who don't play on EI (but perhaps do meet some other criteria) were selected to contemplate the issue, then pass on their recommendations to the Titans for that island, that might mitigate the likelyhood of abuse, while still exposing more players to the judicial process from the pleasant end.
