I like the names.  The banners only make sense to people who already know the game.

Saladin, if Saladin was female and celtic.

Only by proxy.  Outside of Halifax it's a major protest if fifty people show up to anything.

We do have lots of land though, oh yeah, and more oil then Saudi Arabia.  Suck it Canada!  New Celtic Republic forever!

If Quebec separates we can finally overturn the error of confederation, especially the betrayal and annexation of Newfoundland.

General Talk / Favourite book?
« on: July 03, 2012, 07:45:34 AM »
I was surprised this topic has not come up before, or maybe I just didn't go far enough down the necropost.

Many of us here are avid readers and intellectuals, so what's your favourite book (and why if you care to offer)?

I'm a Moby Dick man, I suspect because it was the first real book I learned to read and grew up by the sea.  There is virtually no topic to which Melville does not apply, and it is far more respectable then my love of Wuthering Heights.

Uhhh...because a real war can get your plotting and half-insane nobles off your back and at least make them conspire against you quietly.   ;D

There is nothing more dangerous then nobles with too much time on their hands.

Murderous is a great setting for jacking up family enemies when they are just kicking around in an allied territory minding their own business.

Sure, everyone will hate you, but it really puts the exclaimation mark on the "I refuse to let this grudge die."

Yeah, and even there the overall goal seems to be "let's just make a show of force and then we can be at peace again."

Toupelleon is probably just Too Damn Big.

Nope, generally Arcachonians are going to predetermined locales.  Arcaea has dropped more then 20 active in the last couple of months, though the whole FEI needs some action as it's losing active across the board.

I would add that religious institutions were also more likely to have common ground because for many of them their realm threats were the military infrastructure.  Yes, foreign religions were wrong and evil, but they were also unlikely to challange the idea of theocratic rule.  Powerful civil and military leaders did pretty much constantly.

I may think your religion is loonytoons, but there are solid political-economy reasons to at least pretend to have contact.  After all, we may disagree on the sky being blue, but all religions tend to believe in the importance of religion to the state.

Nothoi has the most crazy/acre as well as being a borderline anarchy half the time.

It actually works better then you'd think and we love stomping around.  If you want good chances for crusades and war and glory, Nothoi is the most likely to give you the means to get stuck in constantly.

Two Words:  Bring It

Nothoi, OG, and Sint seem to make a decent alliance.  IVF should be more worried about what Sint and Nothoi will do to it after this is all done then what the daimons will do.  After all, once we get Overlord's Armour we can try to harness our own soul forges and create monsterous armies of our own.

Or conquer Dyomoque then fall to internal bickering.  You know, either one's good.

Arcaea to new realm(s).

I don't know if it will happen, but it really depends on if everyone holds together after the transitionary period.  I don't see Arcaean political refugees going to OW, but most would probably go Toup/Kindara if they are "big realm" nobles.  Not a lot of options for the Adgharians though.

It would really depend on if Joseph stayed loyal.  Taylin, Joseph, and Ciann could probably pull together something that would be at least competitive with OW, especially if Arcaea starts to bleed off nobles.

I'm actually kinda surprised Taylin hasn't just become the Queen of Taylinostan through a peaceful succession and set about prepping to burn Ohnar West to the ground, then salting the ground.

Theoretically Claude is a devoted Sartanian, so are most of his Dukes.  It's got to be either Arcaea or Kindara for a dance partner though, otherwise it's just not fair.
