Helpline / Death Messages
« on: August 02, 2017, 05:08:24 AM »
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature request as I'm not sure if it is intended for this information to go away or not.

In the Old Account Screen, after you die you get a message like the below:

Quote
Important information about your character Cymore Maxwell, Dragon King of D'Hara, Royal of D'Hara:

This hero character was killed during a battle in Qubel.

Your family recovered 80 gold coins from the body of Cymore.
In a large ceremony, your family commemorates the dead Cymore, a legend known all over the world. For days, the family graveyard swarms with his friends and admirers. Artists compose songs and poems about him, and young maidens cry in their chambers.

Important information about your character Rosalia Maxwell, Empress of Shattered Vales, Royal of Shattered Vales, Duchess of Hope, Baroness of Pahk:

This hero character was killed during a battle in Ete City.

These messages do not appear in the New Account Screen.  I am not sure if this was on purpose or not.  If I need to put it in the Bug Tracker as a bug, just let me know.

Helpline / Item Repair/Upgrade
« on: July 24, 2017, 10:05:47 PM »
After finally hunting down a sage, I talked to them and they wanted:

Here is what the sage can repair, and what common items he will need for that:

can not repair the Shield of Avalon (would need Topaz)

You also have one or more items that the sage can improve:

can not improve the Shield of Avalon (needs 65 gold, 5 silver and Monster Teeth, Moonstone, Antlers)

Is this normal?  I've never tried to upgrade an item as it's hard enough to find one to repair and have the right items.  Is it a default boost to the stat it already has or does it give options?  I'm curious now.

Development / Banker Return to Regional Food Status
« on: May 13, 2017, 04:22:51 PM »
When Banker, select Command > Regional Food Status...

On that page, a banker can look at a market.  If player does a transaction on the market (or several), it's a bit of a hassle to go back to the Regional Food Status to go to another market.

My suggestion is to add a Return to Regional Food Status button on http://www.battlemaster.org/stable/Marketplace.php which would help players out.  It would take about 2 seconds to code and help alleviate a lot of repetitive clicks.

Feature Requests / Under Debate: Building of Temples
« on: October 06, 2016, 06:46:11 PM »
I've been meaning to bring this matter up for a bit, but I kept forgetting to post. LOL

Right now, the only way a new temple can be built is for the Lord of a Region to build it.  After it's built, only a Priest can enlarge it and almost anyone can work on tearing it down.  This is something that made me scratch my head for a few reasons.

1) If it's that hard to build, then why is it so easy to destroy?  After all, making it where a Priest can build it would make it easier and still everyone can remove it if they so desire.

2) Shouldn't the person responsible for maintaining/upgrading be the one who builds it?  Like walls in the cities?

3) If a Lord in another area wants to build a temple, how does one get them funding especially if banking functions aren't available due to relations between realms?

4) As someone who plays a Lord, I know often we are out in the battlefield.  It's hard to come home just for something that is not of much importance.  (Since Temples offer no real benefit to a region... why bother as a Lord?)

5) I've been mailing Lords left and right as a priest trying to get permission to preach.  (One of those pesky character decisions, I know).  I've had 3 answer.  Most go unread from what I can tell.  If a Priest can't even get a "get lost" message, how can they get a building built?

6) With the player population spread out as it is, there are regions without a Lord.  I know I've come across more than a couple recently.  Does this really mean that no temple could ever be built in those regions?

7) Financially speaking, most Lords are more strapped for cash than priests.  After all, most other nobles can recruit some type of unit.  Priests can not.

So, with the above in mind, I propose that Priests be allowed to build temples.  It would add to the Priest class by giving them a function to build and expand upon their focus (Temples and religion!).  It would also allow them to make better use of the funding they do receive.  In addition, it would contribute to the RP aspect of Priests as they could help move (and expand) their followers by the construction, expansion and glorification of the Center of Worship known as the temple.  This could also lead to more inter-fighting amongst Priests to build more temples in more regions expanding and fighting for more believers.

BM General Discussion / When will BT sink?
« on: July 27, 2016, 09:15:11 PM »
BT is a failing continent overrun and controlled by the Netherworld.  The Netherworld controls over half the regions, has more CS than all the player regions combined (even the two realms that kiss the netherworld's nether), and pretty much ensures that none of the realms can grow unless you kiss their butts.

It's a failed continent.  There is no apparent end to the invasion.  Everytime we do something that we are led to, another problem arises and it's withered away.  The "Daimons" just enforce their will no matter what players try to do.  It's futile.

What can players really do when they can't even match the Daimons anymore?  You start with a 1:1 fight and every day the Daimons grow stronger and we can't recruit due to lack of gold and resources from not being able to grow.  The Daimons take over regions at 3 times the speed we do partly due to their numbers.  If we gain a region, they just take another away at their whim.  They can teleport anywhere without warning.  Hordes of Daimons run rampaint just to force us to stay secluded.

What's the point of BT now?  Pretty much, we must subject ourselves to the will of the Daimons or be broken down.  In the latest episode of this, we were told we could not even have walls over 3 in our city or else they'd break it down.  If the admins don't want us to have fortifications over 3, then please just change the code.  Don't enforce it this way.  It's disheartening.

Right now, player interaction is being killed by this.  The realms can no longer even cooperate as we can't reach each other without getting slaughtered either at home or in transit.  We are all just surviving and barely even doing that.  What fun is there in not being allowed to make any progress?  What fun is there in just always having new "Daimonic" demands enforced upon us because we simply can't beat their recruiting ability?  If we could recruit and heal like them, we might have some chance at just staying around.  Give the players the strength in numbers like the Daimons and we would have taken over the continent already.

BM General Discussion / Frustration to the exponential power
« on: June 01, 2016, 07:18:19 PM »
Right now, I am so very frustrated with the BM code.  It seems everytime I have a possible solution, I find out it doesn't work out.  So, let's start from the beginning to get background and better explain the issues.

First, we had two duchies remaining.  One with only 1 region and the other with the capitol.  (No, I didn't appoint the Capitol duke as it was an inherited position and BM code prevents removal of a Duke in the government system we had).  Duke of the Capitol region switched to another realm.  Now, our capitol is "occupied".

What happens now?
1) No one can recruit
2) The ruler can not create a new army (since the old army was dissolved since it was based in our capitol and it's occupied)
3) Anyone who gets captured must pick another realm to join when released
4) Can't change government system
5) Unrest in new region due to "distance" from capitol

So, it's as simple as moving the capitol right?  Well.... you can't do that unless there has been no unrest in the region for x turns.  Every turn, there has been battles.  If my estimate is correct, it'll be about a week before that can be fixed assuming no other monsters or anything enters the region.  Then, we'll have to hope that the region control is strong enough.  Oh, wait... someone used scrolls today... so....

Now, we also have the lord of the region that has gone nuts.  As duke, you can't remove them.  Second, they snuck into a government position.  So, they have to be removed from that first anyway....  Oh, and anyone who rejoined the realm from the Duchy switch is considered new and can't protest.  *sighs*  Exile is worthless and won't remove them from the Lordship.

Let's add a little bit more to the frustration.  Apparently, the Lord can create an army in the region, but the ruler can't?  Really?  Really?!?  What's the point of being a ruler then?!?

Here I am trying to work within BM's code to try to keep a realm running, but every turn I'm getting boxed in.  Players are begging me to resolve a situation that the code prevents me to.  The players are socially interacting demanding an IC resolution that my character wants... but I can't do.  The opponents have the buttons that I don't.  This is becoming a situation where it's a button only game and the ones with the button wins.  I don't have it... so everyone in the realm loses.

All of this is just outright frustrating.  It makes me want to walk away.  It shouldn't be this hard just to try to keep a realm going.  I would be happy if the realm was destroyed by social interaction amongst players, but in reality it's because we don't have the buttons.  If this game is all about being in the right lower positions to inflict damage against others against their will, then you have achieved the goal.  If this game is about social interaction, we have currently failed.

If a player goes inactive and they were in a position of appointment, how long are they ineligible for the position?  Is it permanent?  Is it until 6 months?
