Helpline / Rulers lifting bans
« on: January 19, 2015, 05:46:29 AM »
So how long have rulers been able to see and lift bans? Is this a bug or have I just missed that option for the last X number of months?

Far East Island / The Far East - where we go from here.
« on: October 21, 2014, 01:06:06 PM »
With the takeover of Taop, the Empire has won this war and now rules the continent. So, where to from here?

What will be happening is that, after a short period of island-wide federation, all realms will lower their diplomatic relations to Neutral. The terms of the Empire treaty prohibiting war between Empire realms without permission will be suspended and all realms will be free to form alliances and declare war as they wish. And we will see what happens. With luck, we will see new alliances and factions form in our continent.

Had a battle last turn. There was an SF unit in the Front row at the beginning of the battle. During the Ranged phase it "moved closer to get better shots". Because it was now in front of the rest of the army, every enemy ranged unit targeted it instead of spreading their shots out over everyone in the Front row, virtually wiping out what I imagine would have been quite an expensive SF unit. This seems...unintended.

Quote
Winter's Longbows (19) fire on Royal Swords (6), scoring 164 hits.
[DoF] Bathgate Specialists (10) move closer to get better shots.
[DoF] Bathgate Specialists (10) fire on Last Shadow (14), scoring 551 hits.
Retribution (17) fire on [DoF] Bathgate Specialists (10), scoring 846 hits.
Winter's Longbows (20) fire on [DoF] Bathgate Specialists (10), scoring 264 hits.
Red Banders (16) fire on [DoF] Bathgate Specialists (10), scoring 82 hits.
Aspinall Guards (12) fire on [DoF] Bathgate Specialists (10), scoring 189 hits.

Possible solutions would be for all ranged units to be assigned targets at the beginning of the Ranged phase before any movement takes place, or for all Ranged phase movement to take place at the end of the Ranged phase rather than throughout it.

Helpline / Constant diplomatic "praise realm" fails
« on: May 26, 2014, 04:05:30 AM »
My 80+ Oratory (98 on the Skills fame page) Diplomat has been attempting to raise his city's sympathy to another realm to get rid of the "Peasants complain about alliance with X" message. He's tried some two dozen times in the last three weeks, with varying numbers of hours between 4 and 10. Every single attempt has had the "They seem unimpressed" result, even with the "silver tongue" message coming up. The peasants hated the other realm, true, but it still seems like an awful number of fails for a Diplomat with a very high skill level.

is this normal?

Development / Realm deletion

Can the realm of Sun'Sera on FEI be deleted, please. It hasn't had any nobles for two months.

Title: Allow nobles with no estate to use the steal food looting option.

Summary: When you use the steal food option, it sends the food back to whatever region you have your estate in. If you have no estate (for instance a ruler that does not also have a region) you can't steal food as there's no region for you to send it back to and the option just doesn't appear. I propose that if you have no estate, any food you steal gets sent back to the capital instead.

Benefits: Allows nobles with no estate access to the same looting options as other nobles.

Possible Downsides or Exploits: None.

Helpline / Odd battle behavior
« on: April 08, 2014, 06:58:40 AM »
Just had a Cav-heavy battle on EC that showed some odd behavior. After one particular round, all participants managed to end up on the opposites sides to where they started (Attackers were in the Centre line, Defenders were whatever the line to the left of that is). All Cav units (5 of the 6 units in the battle) "moved back towards the melee". However, the two Attackers Cav units were able to charge while none of the three Defenders Cav units got to, making a rather significant difference to the battle.

One Defenders Cav unit also "cannot join the melee, as it is too crowded", even though the numbers were 175 Def to 150 Att with that unit, and 131 Def to 150 Att without.

There is something off there, right?

Edit: Also worth pointing out that the Attackers Cav didn't actually move lines and still got the charge bonus, while the Defenders Cav did move and didn't get the bonus.

Dwilight / The Zuma
« on: March 26, 2014, 02:13:16 PM »
So what's going to happen with the Zuma when western Dwilignt is abandoned? They'll still be there, I assume, but no one's going to be able to interact with them.

Helpline / Monster evolution
« on: March 25, 2014, 11:05:46 AM »
We were passing through a rogue city and some monsters happened to be there. These monsters not only took advantage of the city's fortifications, but remained behind them for 10 turns of the battle.

Is this normal? Or are we seeing some new evolution of monsterkind?

Feature Requests / Temporarily add noble to message group
« on: March 25, 2014, 12:40:36 AM »
Title: Temporarily add noble to message group

Summary: Allow us a way to send messages to a formal message group + 1, 2 or x other nobles instead of having to select them all individually if the noble you want to include isn't part of the message group you want to send the letter to.

Details: After you've selected the message group, a list of checkboxes or a drop down box appears on the message screen, allowing you to add additional nobles to the recipient list for that message only. Alternatively, you could add a "check all of message group" option to the list of "Send to - all / some of your realm-mates" that would automatically check all all nobles in that group, and you could add more as you wished.

Benefits: It would make it easier to send messages to a whole message group plus one or two nobles that you also wish to receive the message, without having to send multiple messages or selecting them all individually from the "Send to - all / some of your realm-mates" list.

Possible Downsides or Exploits: None.

Helpline / "List armies" option in Command tab

The "List armies" option in the Command tab appears to have gone. Is this a bug or deliberate?

BM General Discussion / The incident with the duck
« on: October 22, 2013, 04:20:38 AM »
Heh, just had a funny message that I'd never seen before in BM. I forgot to change my bonds to gold before training at the Academy, and this is the message I received:

Quote
Sorry, but you don't seem to have the necessary 12 gold, and ever since the incident with the duck the academy is refusing to accept credit cards.

Far East Island / The War of Cathayan-Kindaran Aggression
« on: October 02, 2013, 04:04:09 AM »
So, I thought it about time someone created a thread for this. Surely a continent-wide war deserves its own thread. The name in the subject is...a work in progress. Hah, I guess whoever wins will get the final say in the name.

How do you guys think it's going? Been enjoying it? I am slightly biased, I guess, but I'd say the Empire is winning thus far. The Free Realms have lost one ally and had another all but crippled. On the Empire side, Zonasa is hurting pretty badly, but the other three realms are mostly untouched.

I've probably been most impressed with the improvement of Sorraine and Coralynth in this war. At the beginning of the war they were fielding perhaps 5000 - 6000 CS each. Ohnar alone was able to outnumber them together. But in the last campaign against Sasrhas, Coralynth and Sorraine fielded 11,000 - 13,000 CS each with reliable movement. That's pretty damn impressive. That allowed the three northern Empire realms to field just over 50,000 CS, of which 46,000 was brought against the walls of Sasrhas.

Zonasa, too, has done well, managing to keep Kindara busy despite being entirely outnumbered the entire war. And winning more battles than they've lost.

So did Matt delete the characters, or were they deleted due to inactivity?

Other Games / Fallout: New Vegas
« on: July 20, 2013, 06:17:43 AM »
If anyone ever wanted to try out Fallout: New Vegas but never got around to it, now might be the time. It's up on Steam sales for another 4.5 hours for $3.75 US, or $5 with all the DLC and pre-order stuff. Nabbed it, myself.
