Hello friends!

I thought today would be an appropriate day for a reveal (in the spirit of tradition of course) - I've been playing a new family for the last seven months but I haven't told anyone it was me yet. I wont reveal the family name or which realm I serve but I will say that I am definitely on Dwilight (my favourite continent).

So! See if you can seek me out. Winner will receive 10% of the gold I am currently carrying and get an invitation to a newish secret society I've been tinkering with

APRIL FOOLS!

We're back! Although I am still really busy with work and life etc, but I am going to try to play at least one character because I really miss BM. His name is Vernal, he is a young noble who just began his career in Swordfell (of course). Let's see where the game takes him!

What have I missed over the passed six months? How are my old friends and enemies?

Shared across the streets of the capital were rumours of a strange sound coming from Castle Ironsides. For those who worked in the castle and stood at just the right spot above the cellar, deep below the stone thick walls, a muffled thud repeated rhythmically...thud. Thud. Thud. THUD. THUD. THUD. Thud. Thud. Thud....The sound was heard for the better part of seven days. The origin was never discovered...largely due to lack of investigation and instead the rampant spread of superstition and rumour. By the ninth day, the thuds were heard less frequently and softer. thud thud. thud thud. thud.....thud....thud thud....Folk assumed it was a nest of rats feeding on themselves for some reason. That was the alternative view for those who refused to believe in the spirits of the beyond realm. Stranger still was the disappearance of Duke Bowie, last seen at the fitting session for his new ambassador robes. Most assumed a Lurian assassin got him before he could negotiate a military alliance with the Morek Empire and D'Hara that involved Swordfell.

Nobody thought to put the two rumours together.

And then, by means of pure survival and insane panic, a thin, elderly, filthy man clawed his way out of the dirt beneath a fish stand in the market of Balance's Retreat. Quickly the man was identified as Bowie Ironsides, Duke of Balance's Retreat and Ambassador of Swordfell! The news ignited the continent of this strange but spectacular feat of triumph. The truth of all rumours literally surfaced for its life!

And now the story on the street is that Bowie, the Damned Demonic Duke, visited the wine cellar of his Castle and was trapped when the cellar caved in. He survived solely by emptying wine barrels into his stomach and digging a tunnel upwards - using nothing but his hands. Guards traced the route he haphazardly created from the market to beneath the castle and estimated a total of eighty-nine feet long and ascending sixteen feet in depth.

It is said that when he pulled his whole body out of the ground and after he caught his breath, the first words from his mouth were, 'why the hell didn't anybody look for me!?"

It seemed to him that if he ever disappeared for real, few people would notice.

(OOC: I was gone from the game for over a week and Bowie was dislodged from all his positions. When I finally returned to log back in this was my in game answer for his absence :p )

Helpline / Sending Gold Realm to Realm

What is the easiest way to send gold from a character in one realm to a character in another realm? Can my character go to a bank and send gold to anyone, or does he have to use another method: Guild? Through the rulers? Person to person (can we do that?)

This is an official post for the players of Swordfell and for players who want to discuss aspects of Swordfell. We're on here largely because we got into trouble for using the OOC feature on Dwilight ( :/ ), so instead we will direct our conversations here. Lately things have been quiet, but hopefully we can figure out what direction (as players) we'd like to go with our Republic. Here's the spot to do it and not get a Titan warning!

BM General Discussion / How do I preserve a Battle Report?

I've seen it on the wiki before where someone has posted a full battle report and I want to do the same for the battles in Oligarch, but how do I preserve the battle report without messing up the colours or the order of it? I was thinking of doing screen grabs, but I would need a ton to collect every piece of the report.

Any advice/suggestions?

There will be more to come and it's totally worth keeping them on file!

Helpline / Change Realm Name Glitch or Deliberate?

I am getting a weird glitch error when I go to change the name of Fane in the Government System panel. I will record the glitch next turn and post it here, but my question is whether it is ACTUALLY a glitch or whether that feature is just not available on the East Continent. I can't remember if it is only for the testing isle or not...

I'd love to play Battlemaster in the 17th-18th century era. I know it would be a ton of work to rewrite all of the code and give everything a new face, but it would be awesome! So let's chat about it and see if our imaginations can make a game worth playing! What sorts of things would you guys want to see in this new game?

I want cannons on the battlefield, and Napoleonic Era monarchies, and pistol duels.

Helpline / Letter Writing Bug?

I reported this to the bugtracker already but was wondering if it was only happening to me or if others have experienced this glitch:

I can't send or preview letters anymore, it sort of started yesterday and is worse now. I hit send letter and the page goes backward to an earlier preview of my letter, erasing what I wrote since that preview. If I hit preview it goes even further backward to an even earlier preview erasing the majority of what I wrote.

Could this be the thing that finally silences Bowie Ironsides's famous tongue!? Enemies rejoice (me sulk...)

Is this happening to anyone else?

BM General Discussion / Favourite Government Position?

I was thinking today of how I missed being a banker. I had a lot of fun as a banker and am looking forward to to doing it again (hopefully). I can't say the same for judge because I found that position to be very boring/needless, but then again I played a judge way back before the positions changed. I can't speak for the judge position nowadays. Being a General could only be fun if there are wars to fight (monster/undead hunting is more of a chore than a game), or at least if the war is a hot one. I was the General of Aquilegia against Xinhai, but that front was quiet and uneventful. Also General of Westmoor against Caligus but only for a short time. I think I lost the position to being wounded or captured, and just never bothered to campaign for it again. Being a ruler is interesting, I am finding out. I've already learned a lot of downsides to being the ruler but I am hoping to learn more of the positives as time goes on.

So what is everyone's favourite government position and why? What kinds of things did you do in that position, any favourite moments?

There really isn't much to be said about politics and personalities of High Toprak (which includes Central Toprak) so I thought to maybe start up this post and get some connections going. Remember, High Toprak is not the Lurian portion of Toprak or the Occidens at all so please leave those conversations for the other threads.

Hey, since the mentor class no longer exists what happens to that fame point? Was it replaced by anything else? Does it still count?

Also, I had a mentor character a long while ago (maybe even two...) but never had the opportunity to publish a mentor book. So for those who claim to have earned the mentor fame point, what made you think that you did?

BM General Discussion / New Continent? Permadeath/mandatory charcater slot?

Wouldn't it be neat if there was a new continent with permadeath (like in one of the Beluaterra invasions) and where every single player had to have one character? It could be a small continent that way every realm has an abundance of players (rather than the sparsely populated realms of some places) and everybody in the game would be playing together on one island.

Could be fun?
