BM General Discussion / Infiltrator actions: Bad Taste?
« on: July 20, 2011, 10:15:45 PM »
So, I have two characters in one realm, a Duke who is pretty important to the realm, as Duke of the capitol, and a priest who pretty much does his own thing and doesn't dabble in any realm business for the most part.

It just so happens that both of my characters recently happened to be in the same region of the realm (capitol), and an infiltrator came along and assassinated not one but both of my characters back-to-back. Taking out my Duke character was understandable because he is important to the defense of the realm, and is actually a viable target for a political hit. However, I thought it was pretty rude, if not unsportsmanlike to take out my second character as well, the priest because this does absolutely nothing politically or militarily for the assassins realm, but instead just simply doesn't allow me to play any of my characters for a week or whatever.

Other Games / Dave's Galaxy

Okay, as an off-shoot to the discussions began in "Browser-Based Gaming" I've created an individual Dave's Galaxy thread.

Dave's Galaxy is an interesting little space game that requires very very little time each day to play. (Far less than BM in my experience so far.)

At any rate, some of us from BM have all joined seemingly and I say we can either see about working together in some way (although due to initially beginning far from each other, it seems incredibly difficult) or at least keep in some communication. If you joined, go ahead and let us know here and put down your tag for that game. Any ideas and comments perfectly welcome.

(I'll edit top post every once in a while to include new names if ppl like that idea)

So, one thing I was thinking about is that if we find some sort of central area in between all of us, we could perhaps each send a colony ship there and build up some sort of alliance headquarters where we could build up a second base of operations to each fall back on if our main spots get attacked or whatever? With the way resources work it would essentially be like a 2nd spot in the game, but we could work together there.

BM General Discussion / Dukes, Power, and Families
« on: April 13, 2011, 08:37:46 AM »
So, I recently found myself in a very odd situation with my characters on Atamara. My main and most recently most engaged character is the Duke of the capitol of Coria and has been such for a while now since stepping down as Ruler of Coria. Recently, the Duke of Coria's second city was killed and a referendum began to elect his replacement. It then became a situation where my second character in Coria had a very strong RP claim and IC reason to run for Duke of Coria's second city and thus he did so. With my other characters support and very unaligned voting for the 4 or 5 other candidates, my 2nd character is now Duke of the 2nd city of Coria.

So I'm in the situation where I now have 2 characters in a realm, and 2 Dukes of the 2 cities of Coria.

I am wondering what y'all think of this situation and if you would have done anything differently. I am open to criticism, but I am struggling with having been placed in a situation where to properly RP my characters, and play them with their current IC goals I have been given nearly complete control of a single realm all in the form of a single player. Now, my two characters don't usually work together much, but one is more manipulative of the other when it can be, so it is a very interesting situation indeed.

Anyway, let the forum take it away...

BM General Discussion / Character Limits
« on: March 30, 2011, 06:39:37 AM »
So, I know that there is a wiki article about Character Limits but it is far lacking in the sort of specific information that I want.

The thing is that currently I have am able to have 3 Active characters and 3 noble characters. I want to know when I am able to get a 4th active character and a 4th noble character. (And don't just say donate, because my personal circumstances prevent that, although I would if I could. )

So the article says that you can get a 4th active character through either being a long term player, or by gaining medals from the medal system. How long is "long-term?" Also, exactly how many medals do we need to be considered noteworthy by the medal system? I currently have 3 medals, so obviously this is not enough, or its a bug that I don't have the character. Also, my account has been active for over 2.5 years as of right now, but I've been playing far longer than that. (Old account pass was lost, so I had to recreate it. I'd been playing at least 2 years before the current account).

The article also states that family fame is the determining factor for when you can have a fourth noble character, and I'm wondering what threshold it is that I need to pass to reach this 4th noble character point. It isn't as pressing as wanting a 4th active character, because I plan to make the new one an adventurer anyway to start with, but would like to know anyway. My fame is currently at 27 which I would consider quite significant so, I'm wondering exactly how much someone is expected to get to...
