Hi,

I've been wondering if posting the thing or not, but after thinking how the balance in this case has resulted, I think it deserves some reflection. Knowing that some people have already had some issues with the player involved has made me take the decision as well.

Basically, a newcomer to the game joined Eponllyn (EC) a short time ago. Some time later, an Himoura joined the realm as well. When this first character mentioned that he had a commoner sister because some RP the player had invented, the insults against the character started from the Himoura.

Some of us defended that noble's position, in my case, mostly because of the harsh manner the Himoura was taking the accusations. After seeing some nobles from Eponllyn admonished the Himoura, his character left the realm (after just 3 or 4 days in it)

It would have remained an anecdote if the Himoura wouldn't have carried on insulting and threatening the other character, in what looked like a paranoid personal vendetta. The player ended up by deleting that character.

I'm sure that playing the !@#$%^& character can be really fun sometimes, but I think something isn't working when it comes to the point to "scare" a newcomer to the game. Some experienced players can have some clue about how sometimes IG decisions make things get heated, while OOC you'd have a beer with your opponent. I'm not proposing to be overprotective with newcomers, but after talking so much about BM's need of fresh blood, seeing one leaving because of the behaviour of a character is disappointing. And even more if the characters from that family have such a controversial record.

Briefly, it's okay if someone likes to systematically play the arrogant/quarrelsome/Machiavellian role. But it's not okay when you look like a psycho-prosecutor in a MMORPG, where the target could end up by thinking "okay, f**k this game and all freaks behind".

Sorry if I might have sounded bitter, but honestly this matter has disturbed me, and I think I'm not the only one.

East Island / [EC] Glacier affected realms issue
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:59:58 AM »
Hi all,

I'm not sure if this has been already discussed on the forum, but players in Eponllyn (southern tip of the continent) haven't seen any payment or morale bonus that was supposedly applied to the realms affected by the glacier.

The weekly pay for my unit is a standard 55 gold pieces (they're 50 men), and healers receive 15. Nevertheless my other noble in Dwilight, from Barca, is paying an insignificant amount of gold per week, so these bonuses are working there normally.

Is there any issue with code implementation or anything like that there?

Thanks.

Questions & Answers / Accusation of "gold hoarding"
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:38:23 PM »
Hi all,

It's been already 71 days since a character is in Barca, and although he's never been very talkative, he performed the tasks that were ordered to do and sometimes spoke publicly.

However, from several months on he lost his unit (due to neglecting in payment I think) and has not recruited a new one although he was asked for it. It has not been a case of mere inactivity, since we have noticed he has been moving around. In a certain moment he decided to take an estate without consent, and he was asked to give reasons and motivations for that; after a couple of warns he was kicked out of the region. He then moved to another region and took an estate again.

The Ruler has requested back again to give an explanation for this behaviour and recruit a unit but silence has been again his sole reply. A little while before I sent him an ultimatum as Judge, warning him that if he keeps on neglecting these requests "severe measures" will be taken against his actions.

I think this is a clear case of "gold hoarding", the character was investigated by the Ruler and he carries 180 gold coins plus today's tax collection. Would be banishment justified if he fails to reply within a period of 2-3 days?

Thanks.

BM General Discussion / Price of Unique Items
« on: January 05, 2013, 12:53:41 PM »
Hi!

My Beluaterran advy has managed to find a unique item and he's willing to sell it. However, I'd like to have some references about common and reasonable prices that are usually paid for this objects. I mean, a fair bill for expenditures, displacements, hours of hunting...  :D

Thanks!

Dwilight / Barcan Recruitment Bureau
« on: January 01, 2013, 05:06:01 PM »
"So your little cousin/ brother/ nephew is growing lazy and useless among the commodities of an aristocratic family? It's time to show him what blue blood means and make him a worthy noble. Which in the Dwilight could be the best place to learn to work hard and fight to survive? Yes, one of those realms that don't exist any more... but... Which one could be another GREAT option to show them the worth of courage, loyalty and hard work? Yes, the Republic of Barca!

Bring us your relatives and you'll get them back as true noble men or women! Among our activities are included the monster hunting, construction of infrastructures, races before enormous enemy armies, and much more! They'll learn to develop their fighting, oratory, artistic, writing, eehm... everything skills!

So don't hesitate, help us to help you to help them, and glory to the Republic of Barca!"

Any volunteer?  :P

General Talk / Merry Christmas!
« on: December 23, 2012, 04:26:12 PM »
Hi guys,

Knowing that probably many of you will be tomorrow travelling to visit parents, parents-in-law, distant cousins, bearded aunts, unbearable nephews/nieces, and such, I'd like to wish you all Merry Christmas!  :)

Personally, I'll have dinner tomorrow with my grandfather, parents, uncles and aunts, and cousins. It's the "Good Night" of the 24th. We have no Santa, but the Three Wizard Kings that bring us gifts on 6th January. They're losing followers however, kids rather to play with their new video-games from 25th until the end of holidays!  ::)

Well, have a nice day, in peace and joy!

Helpline / Noble characters limit in a Continent
« on: December 11, 2012, 11:07:38 AM »
Hi!

I've been playing for a while my adventurer, and I've noticed that in the Actions page appeared this:

Quote
Things you can not do:
  • Change your Class - you already have the maximum number of nobles allowed on this continent.

While he has reached 6 Prestige and 10 Honour, he hasn't sold any unique item to any noble in the Continent (Dwilight), and so he hasn't got any recommendation yet. I was wondering if he manages to get these recommendations, couldn't he become a noble in Dwilight? Should he emigrate to another continent to do so? I've got a single noble character in my account, living in Dwilight.

I was just curious, my advy will have to wait anyway for a long time to sit down in a table among nobles  ;D

Newbie Board / Reading messages in prison
« on: November 23, 2012, 10:19:18 PM »
Hi all!

After a couple of days in prison, and without having bribed actually the jailer, I've seen this message in my advy's game screen:

You successfully bribed the guards, and can read the news or send messages today.

The fact is I can't do anything, as I couldn't before. Before this I didn't try to do anything fearing awful consequences, but after seeing that message I've tried to talk with other prisoners with no results.

I can't access the information of my character or his inventory, and of course, neither his messages. Could it be some kind of bug?

Thanks!

Roleplaying / Imprisoned in Fissoa
« on: November 22, 2012, 01:32:56 AM »
Dytalcon was finally starting to feel the chill of the ever-shadowy stone in which he was lying. His breathing was starting to be more conscious, as he felt the straw blades spread on the ground tickling his nose. And then he clearly noticed the stinging pain in his forehead. Little by little he started to rise while he tried to make up his mind. What had happened?

Everything came back to his mind as soon he saw the iron bars of the cell… imprisoned. His memories were quickly cleared, so he could recreate the details of those last hours. He took a boat from Madina to get to Fissoa, looking for opportunities in the land. It started to be obvious that he hadn’t chosen the best destination for his first steps out of the lands where he was born.

His homeland… he realized which could be the reason of his imprisonment. For a commoner, diplomatic relations are not matters of a common use, but that explained the mistrustful looks of the peasants at the tavern. Instinctively he had avoided to try to apply for the local monster-hunting guild, even when he knew he could offer a good service:  for the very first time he felt a stranger.

Now his fate was under the wish of the Judge of this unknown country for him, but he couldn’t figure out which were the charges against him. He decided to speak to the jailer, a giant covered in iron and leather, with a surly looking.

“Why am I here? – He asked in what tried to be a calmed tone. The jailer took his time before answering.

“Shut up, you Falkirkoscum…

The rudeness of the reply left him numb for a second. Falkirk… what? It seemed that the jailer read his thoughts, as he repeated slowly to help him understand with no doubts:

“Falkirk-o-scum… - The official opinion towards the lands where Dytalcon was born started to get very well defined in his schemes.

“Sir, I’m just a traveller… I didn’t even know there is some kind of conflict within our countries!

“So you’ve got a conflict with our country, don’t you? – The jailer’s eyebrow raised giving him a quite unexpected intellectual gesture.

“I’m not saying that! I was just saying…

“Talk to the Judge, Falkirkoscum! – It was clear Dytalcon wouldn’t get any other explanation from this brute. He whispered and replied trying to keep his nerves.

“When will I be able to talk to him?

“Well… probably tomorrow. Before… - The jailer accompanied this words with a very explicit gesture. His red tongue and unexpressive eyes talked about a fear which the adventurer didn’t dare to admit.

“That can’t be true… - These whispered words didn’t get to the jailer’s ears. He just smiled as a satisfied jester after a great performance.

Dytalcon sat on the ground. He started to organize his ideas, he would probably have just one chance and had to choose the right words. Would the Judge believe him? The life of a commoner doesn’t worth much for anyone else, but he wanted to preserve it. He had some debts to pay and some wits to prove, and his conscience was clear. Would it be enough?

Feature Requests / REJECTED: Real time chat
« on: November 15, 2012, 01:36:15 AM »
Title:
Real time chat

Summary:
Nobles from the same realm, military organisation or guild can meet in a "physical" guild house or government building to share ideas in a real time conversation.

Details:
  • These buildings could be added to some regions (townsland or cities) as another kind of infrastructure, by a high dignitary of the guild/organisation.
  • This person and the other members of similar rank could stablish which ranks or kind of people can enter the building.
  • Whenever a member of the guild/realm/organisation is in a region with this kind of building, he/she can enter to be displayed as a speaker available to talk with. Whenever decides to leave the building, he/she can't join the conversation.
Benefits:
  • Some decisions which require an important coordination or clarification could be discussed properly.
  • It could add some funny roleplaying, creating an emulation of a court or guild house with a direct interaction within the members.
Possible Exploits:
  • It could be used to marginalize some disliked characters.
  • An intensive use could end up with an abuse of OOC conversation if the responsible members aren't strict about this matter.
