Feature Requests / Standing orders should appear under army view.
« on: September 07, 2011, 06:36:23 AM »
If you navigate to Information > Local Information > Army That You're In, you'll open a page that contains the name of the army that you're in, the banner, the sponsor, marshals, and other members. I propose that this page should also contain the army's standing orders.

Furthermore, I propose that the General of a realm should be able to view the standing orders of every army under "View Armies."

Helpline / Questions about Armies
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:31:11 PM »
1. The sponsor of an army has paused. Will anything happen to the army?

2. If the Marshal of an army steps down, will the Vice-Marshal automatically become Marshal? If not, will the Vice-Marshal at least be able to see Command Staff settings and issue Standing Orders?

Helpline / City starvation population loss rate.

We lost nearly 50,000 in our city in just a few short days due to starvation. Is this normal?

Helpline / More Stupid Archer Behavior
« on: July 09, 2011, 06:26:17 PM »
I have a battle scribe note from Dwilight to show you. Through the whole battle, our archers were able to fire at the monsters. Then, once the monsters break through the front lines, the "archers move forward to get better shots" even though they were able to shoot at the monsters the entire time.

Is my interpretation of this wrong? Should archers be doing this?

How annoying it is to take some action in the game, thinking it requires no time, only to discover that your time pool went down after all. Posting a bounty takes one hour for each type of bounty, and this fact is not stated anywhere in-game. The wiki, of course, fails to mention it altogether.

Every action should clearly state in-game how many hours it requires.

Can banks normally be found at strongholds?

Feature Requests / Unit Terrain Modifier
« on: June 19, 2011, 11:12:39 AM »
Well, I used to play a lot of Battle for Wesnoth, and I thought it might be interesting to see the following concept in BattleMaster: particular unit types automatically fight better or worse in particular terrain types.

Rural: The baseline; all units are equally advantageous.
Townsland: All units are equally advantageous.
City: Infantry have a slight advantage over other unit types here.
Woodlands: Cavalry has a slight penalty here; archers fare better.
Mountains: Nearly every type of unit fares poorly here, particularly cavalry.
Badlands: Cavalry have a slight advantage here.
Stronghold: All units fight the same here due to the effects of the stronghold.

We can squabble over the particular details; the examples are just to give you an idea of what I'm saying... although it just occurred to me that we really don't have a big enough variety of terrains for this suggestion to be useful.

Helpline / Capturing Enemy Nobles
« on: June 16, 2011, 06:54:11 PM »
We are at war with a realm, and I noticed that nobles from that realm who do not have units are apparently able to travel unimpeded through my region. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or increase my odds of... catching them? I don't understand how it works.

Feature Requests / New Unit Type: Pikemen
« on: June 06, 2011, 12:46:51 AM »
I searched the forums for this suggestion and similar suggestions and was somewhat surprised not to see it. I believe this unit type may offer some balance with regards to cavalry and perhaps allow for greater variations of battlefield tactics.

Pikemen are, as the name implies, soldiers who are equipped with an extremely long spear-like weapon called a pike. Generally, these types of men are deployed when a cavalry charge is expected, and they are usually very effective against charging mounted opponents. However, they must be specially trained to use the weapon effectively; the pikes themselves are heavy and unwieldy. This unit is generally a defensive one, but they can be very devastating when well-ordered and on the attack.

Pros:
Extremely good defense and offense against cavalry; any cavalry foolish enough to charge a line of pikemen will suffer heavy losses.
Bonus to melee attack and melee defense against other unit types as long as the unit has not suffered casualties of over 40%.
A recruitment center for pikemen can be specifically built, though it has as much chance to succeed as a cavalry recruitment center.

Cons:
Once this unit has lost 40% of its men, it will become disorganized; once disorganized, the unit will lose its melee attack and melee defense bonuses, as well as its bonuses against cavalry.
This unit is vulnerable to ranged attacks.
This unit is expensive to recruit and maintain.

Feature Requests / Fishing unaffected by season.
« on: June 01, 2011, 11:14:23 PM »
I searched the forums and saw that no one else had brought this up before, so I would like to propose the following:

If a region's economy includes fishing, part of the region's ability to produce food should not be affected by season. Instead, the region should be able to constantly produce food by fishing. (Obviously, if the region also relies on farming, overall food production will still be vulnerable to season.) To balance this, fishing will also not get a season bonus -- and the region's ability to produce food will, of course, still be affected by other factors like population, production level, and looting.

This change will make coastal areas somewhat more desirable due to the ability to produce a steady supply of food in scarce times; however, I believe the change would not be overpowered because fishing would get no seasonal bonuses and therefore produce no more food in the course of the year than farming would, on average.

Disclosure: I am a lord in a region that includes fishing as part of its economy.

Helpline / Questions about Region Statistics
« on: May 29, 2011, 12:41:49 AM »
I'm the lord of a particular region on Dwilight, and, like all regions, it lists the following statistics on the region page:
Gold:       113 gold
Food:       96 bushels
I don't understand what these two things are supposed to indicate. Is it gold/food production? Supply? Neither of those things make sense given the other information I know about my region. Could someone explain to me what they are? A forum search turned up nothing, and the wiki is largely useless.

Feature Requests / Messages "from today" should start at sunrise.
« on: May 27, 2011, 03:06:27 AM »
Currently, it's possible to select to read messages "from today" and have it come up completely blank. Apparently, this is because "from today" means from a certain server time rather than from the in-game perspective of time.

I propose that checking messages "from today" should check everything from sunrise on and start over at the next sunrise. Similarly, "from yesterday" should check everything from the previous sunrise on.

I'm having some difficulty with my family page. I want to edit my user data, but when I click on "Edit Data," I only get a blank page. I've tried different browsers, and it happens to each one.

BM General Discussion / Curious about Common Items

Hey, I was browsing the wiki and saw that the entry for "Book of Daimon Banishing" was pretty much empty. I really want to know more about this thing, because I got a mysterious message and found one. A search in the forums for information turned up nothing.
