Other Games / Realpolitiks
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:51:37 PM »
Anyone pick up this game yet? I saw one of my favorite YT channels do a playthrough of the demo, and it looked so fun I got the full game yesterday.

Starting a grand campaign with Belgium in 2020, by 2050 I've turned the country into the financial capital of the world with a fully green economy and hypermodern infrastructure. I also have claim on the Moon, somehow. Next I'm thinking of slowly turning the country into a totalitarian regime, expanding and modernizing my military and maybe doing some aggressive expansion onto France, payback for them trying to tank my stock market several times.

Meanwhile China has been at war for two decades, using nuclear weapons against Russia, India, Korea (which was unified in the 2030s) and Japan. The USA have more or less collapsed, with constant rioting and rebellions. ISIL has taken over most of the Middle East. Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia have become superpowers in their own right.

This game plays like a very simplified version of Europa Universalis, if I had to compare it to anything. I can highly recommend it to people who enjoy such games.

South Island / End of Sennianus

A fitting one, too. Death in battle against Sandalak, before Taselak's final defeat. Just the way he'd always wanted to go. Now he joins Kurlock and Sorach in the Great Brawl in the Sky.

Too often you'll see units suiciding into enemy regions to scout behind the lines. Defenders are almost powerless to stop them since commanders with retreated units are pretty much untouchable except by assassins. In my opinion this is a very cheap trick to get reports you wouldn't normally get.

Other Games / Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Please tell me somebody plays this game :D I just got it today on Steam and even though I just plain suck right now - I haven't landed a blow as far as I can tell, much less killed anyone - but I can see myself getting addicted to this. What a rush! I also bought the Deadliest Warrior expansion, which seemed appropriate enough.

Other Games / DayZ
« on: June 27, 2014, 10:38:05 PM »
Does anyone here play DayZ? I recently bougt the standalone version, and I must say it's very interesting, and definitely the most realistic post-apocalyptic online game to date. Still quite buggy, with zombies sometimes clipping through walls and stuff like that, but I don't mind at all.

Even though I haven't made it longer than 2 hours before dying and even failed to obtain even a working gun, I get sucked into the game, creeping through bushes and houses desperate to find useful things, freezing every time I see movement or hear odd noises, feeling victorious over finding something as mundane as a pair of hiking boots, ... this is The Walking Dead minus all the tedious drama. Other survivors tend to be more dangerous than zombies, and you can literally get shot through the neck from 200 yards out out of nowhere just because you walked into someone's line of sight. The few times I've spotted other people I made very sure to run and hide. I like that being dead means just that. No revives, no getting your loot back, and death lurks around every corner. Definitely the most tense game I've played since F.E.A.R. just came out.

Summary: A filter that allows you to filter out any messages not sent to a particular realm message group.
Details: It can often be an annoyance to have to sift through endless messages to find the ones sent to a message group you belong to. Particularly when the discussions there are vitally important, having to dredge through dozens of other messages can be a drag. Adding a filter to only display letters sent to a particular group would be a most welcome addition, allowing you to get only the letters you need, neatly compiled together.
Benefits: See above
Possible exploits: None come to mind.

Other Games / PS3 players?
« on: December 08, 2012, 03:33:55 PM »
Anybody here frequent the PS3 network? I thought it might be cool to have some BM gamers play together sometime. I mostly stick to Modern Warfare 3 and Gran Turismo online, with the occasional Mortal Kombat match thrown in. I'm gonna get Black Ops 2 and Borderlands 2 sometime soon too if anybody has those.

Feature Requests / Name change as donation perk
« on: January 25, 2012, 04:25:29 PM »
Since name change requests for RP reasons will get rejected, but people with acceptable names might desire a change nonetheless, I thought it might be a good idea to allow it as a perk of donating money. People with inappropriate names would still be able to get a change for free, but those who want to change it for RP or flavor reasons would have to make a contribution in return for a one-off name change.

Dwilight / Zuma/Daimons

Just curious to see after all the Zuma talk in the other topic how many people like or dislike the Zuma/Daimon presence, or if they even know what they are.

Personally, I voted no, for reasons explained in the saltiness topic.

Feature Requests / Infils burglarizing temples/guildhouses
« on: September 14, 2011, 09:31:21 PM »
Title says it all... I think it would be interesting to allow infiltrators the option to break into temple/guildhouse treasuries and count/steal the gold the way they can do it to tax offices now.

Other Games / Roleplaying Dave's Galaxy
« on: September 06, 2011, 10:14:52 PM »
Would anyone be interested in this? I'd like to try my hand at telling the story of my empire's progress, especially now that I'm sending out war fleets and the likes. We could do both solo roleplays and interactive ones with a handful of players. Especially for those of us who are clustered together, this could make for some good fun I think.

Feature Requests / Warehouse rationing
« on: August 13, 2011, 09:57:48 PM »
Basically this would be an option for either the lord/steward of a region, or the banker. It would allow you to ration any food in your warehouses.

For instance, there is 500 food in your warehouse, and your region consumes 100 bushels a day. Your realm can't supply any more food for another 10 days. Normally, you would be faced with the following scenario: after 5 days, your food is gone and your region starts losing peasants until the next shipment arrives. To me it just doesn't make sense... no sensible Lord would let his peasants feast for five days and then starve for another five days.

With rationing, you could make that food last 10 days instead of five, by only giving out half the required daily rations. Your region will go hungry, but there will be no widespread starvation killing off a bunch of your peasants.

This would make managing developing cities a bit easier, especially big ones. For instance, Giask on Dwilight is causing us some major headaches. We want to stop the city from growing by controlling how much food goes there, so they peasants have just enough food to sustain themselves, but they do not procreate. It's a logistical semi-nightmare that requires some micromanaging, which I believe is not the way the game is supposed to head towards. Adding an option to ration food would make things a lot easier.

Giving the ration option to the bankers also gives them some more to do besides setting taxes and crunching food numbers, and at the same time it gives them the means to check the power of Dukes, by allowing them to shut off the food supply to the cities. To prevent it from being too powerful, perhaps rations should be set at a bare minimum of 50% of the required bushels.
