Atamara / Caergoth - Traitor or King
« on: September 14, 2011, 07:56:05 PM »
For those of you not in Caergoth you are missing a fascinating tipping point in its cultural development. Currently a nobleman, Merrodak von Igelfeld is on trial for treason and simultaneously running for King.

Quote
Warriors of Caergoth,

I stand before you now as either your traitor or your King, and I ask nothing more than for you to decide which I am. You know my stance politically, you know my words, and you know my goals. Am I traitorous or am I the future for this realm? Do I seek its destruction or its restoration?

High Justice you ask how I plead, I must ask what loyalty have I betrayed? When I arrived in Lanston, I pledged my loyalty to this realm, to Caergoth, to its virtues, and to my second cousin Viscountess Moria Von Igelfeld who lost her position fighting against the rebels who stormed the capital while our armies were off at war. If you claim that I have forsaken the oath I made that day, I most certainly plead not guilty. All that I have done, every action I have taken, every letter I have written, everything is towards the goal of living up to my words, to my oath. My soul aim is to be loyal to Caergoth, the Caergoth of virtue. The Caergoth of strength.

Therefore High Justice, I shall hold my head high closing this letter as our predecessors and patriots have before me,

For Caergoth!

Helpline / Priests - Private Sermons
« on: August 14, 2011, 12:55:44 AM »
I recently became a priest and was looking to give a private sermon, but the option to request it did not appear for the player requesting the sermon. I told him it was in actions but apparently it didn't show up.

So I am just wondering, does a priest need a certain level of Oratory skill before they can give private sermons? is there some other limitation to consider?

Feature Requests / Simplification of Travel
« on: August 08, 2011, 01:07:08 AM »
I don't know about you all, but I think one of the reasons we are having trouble with retention is that the game is sometimes overly complex and thereby time consuming. So i think we should start requesting features that make the game easier, not more complicated.

My suggestion is actually quite simple. instead of only allowing two regions to be set for travel, allow for as many as the player would like. If we made it so that a player could travel long distances without continually having to pull up the map to see where to go next it would make the game just a little simpler.

« on: June 08, 2011, 03:09:37 AM »
I know there is discussion going on in Dwilight university about the new religion in Asylon, but as I am not currently part of DU i don't know what they are saying. Here is the religion page so far: http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Cordatus_Bestiarium consider it a rough draft to be built on by followers of the religion.

BM General Discussion / Monarchy experiment
« on: April 07, 2011, 06:51:22 PM »
I am trying to create a true Monarchy in Asylon, one where the ruler chooses the heir to the throne. There will still be an election of course and the heir could lose the election, but ether way the heir will have a claim on the throne.

Quote
As you know I have no son to take the throne and therefore no biological heir. Whoever next comes to the throne will be my heir in spirit, but this does not mean I shall be without say in the matter. I have been watching all of you in your service to Asylon and seeing who is most fit to carry the mantle of leadership. However, I have yet to chose an heir. Therefore nobles of Asylon, if you feel that you are deserving of the crown, then present yourself to me and tell me why you should take the crown.

My eye shall be on each one of you in this coming month, and before it has ended one of you will be declared the heir to the throne.

I am interested to see how this turns out.

BM General Discussion / Who wants to polish a banner and crest?
« on: April 07, 2011, 02:11:00 PM »
So I have been working on a flag for some time and I think I have finally come up with something good. However, I am not a graphic artist by any means and I need someone else to polish the image/idea. If you want to help, feel free to play with the colors as you like and do whatever you want to the idea, all I really want is an awesome looking banner and crest. Here is what I have so far:

BM General Discussion / Council Power
« on: April 05, 2011, 09:50:29 AM »
So what position within the council, (King, Judge, Banker, General) do you think holds the most actual power. I am thinking here about game mechanics and such, and from what I understand here are the basic abilities of the different positions:

The King dominates exterior diplomacy, can change the government workings, and exile nobles.

The Judge controls the prison, can torture and steal from nobles in prison, ban nobles, and set fines.

The Banker controls taxes and tax distribution, can steal gold from regions, and see the exact food reports.

The General can move militia, and I don't know what else.

Background / Human Nature

PART of the fourth is intended. Rights and freedoms. That bothers me some, but not tons. What DOES bother me is the highly modernized sexuality of especially women, but some male characters as well.

Another thing that bothers me:
The infrequency of marriage.

What time period are you referring to here? and what do you mean by modernized sexuality?

There was never a time when everyone followed some rigid code about sex. It is true that in the middle ages the topic was more hushed up than it is now, but people have never been particularly virtuous.

So you can say it is inaccurate to go around boasting about your exploits. That simply wouldn't be done in most societies (Vikings excluded?). But throughout all of time there have been philanderers.

One of my characters (Ulrich) is a bit of a womanizer. This comes out in his RP's, never anything beyond illusion to the fact. But it is always in RP's and never in letters. RP's provide a glimpse into the character, Letters are the public face. As part of that public face nobody would ever admit to having adulterous relations, but that wouldn't mean that the person didn't have them.

So I guess it really comes down to what you mean by modernized sexuality.

BM General Discussion / New Religion Advice
« on: March 18, 2011, 03:40:01 AM »
Asylon will shortly be rolling out a new religion, and given all we have been discussing about religions of late, I would be interested in what you have to say.

I want it to be unique and different from other religions within dwilight, and I want to make it so that followers have actual in game actions they can do to progress further in the religion.  Along these lines it is going to have a strong focus on the Zuma, and specifically the Zuma mark that two Asylonians already possess. The Zuma will be seen as somewhat otherworldly, partially outside of this physical world and possessing a greater understanding of both the physical and spiritual world. When they grant the Zuma mark to a human, it endows them with greater spiritual vision. Therefore, those who possess the mark are considered prophets and have greater influence in theological debate.

Along with the Zuma mark, pilgrimages will play an important part in this religion as to progress from a simple layman to higher levels a nobleman must complete a pilgrimage to the holy city of Nightmarch and do ... while there.

Most all the doctrine will be built from whatever the Zuma happen to say, or have said in the past. So information brought back from these pilgrimages will be of great importance.

What are your thoughts?

Nobles of Dwilight,

Since I was a young lad in Golden Farrow, I have followed the teachings of Verdis Elementum. The elements each hold unique influence in the shaping of our world and it is right to acknowledge the significance born of that power. but as experience and insight has been gifted unto me by the beings that are beyond, I have seen what lies behind and the clarity it brings to the foreground of our world.

Verdis Elementum holds  great truth, but it fails to acknowledge the full complexity of this world we inhabit. For to see the elements of nature as gods, and nothing as supreme to these gods,  our world must be rife with chaos.

The unexplainable does exist, I grant this, and because of it I have followed Verdis Elementum seeking to rectify it with the whole truth of our world. However, I have found it irreconcilable. For chaos does not rain supreme in our world, for everyday the sun rises and it sets and every season the fields yield and sit fallow. Order stands above this chaos.

Sanguis Astroism seeks understanding from those great lights of the night. They see them ebb and flow, and the reactions of mortal men. They worship the stars as they travel. But when they see the night sky they see not what lies behind it, what governs over it. Order leads these stars across the sky, and bids them to shine and dim. Sanguis Astroism holds many truths, and leads men to greater understanding, but the Order that stands above chaos, stands above the stars.

There are some beings in this world close to the full understanding of Order, they rest in the Order and grant blessings on those who gain favor. They are neither here nor there, but rest in the comfort between. To these beings respect is owed. But Verdis Elementum acknowledges them not and Sanguis Astroism sees them not.

From this point on, I shall seek to learn from what they have said and are saying. If you seek to take this journey, you must become a pilgrim, and your first pilgrimage shall be to Aspar, for it sits between the land of the enlightened and the land of first blessing.

May all blessings be yours oh pilgrim,

King and Patriarch Moritz Von Igelfeld.

Dwilight / The Crusade against SA
« on: March 16, 2011, 01:31:42 PM »
So... we got a big war on our hands. Caerwyn is attacking Astrum. Madina is all attacking SA. Averoth is trying to hold its own, and one of the brotherhood is distracted.

I really don't want this to turn into a OOC debate about justifications for the war. I just want to know what people think. So please keep things as objective as possible and don't insult realms or characters.
