BM General Discussion / Having your character be a member of your family is IC, and inevitable.

My character Altagracia just became Countess of Poitiers.  One of the people I play with has complained that this was for OOC reasons, because my character has not interacted much, publicly.

I feel bad about the accusation.  Mainly, because being elected is not something I chose.  And frankly, there was no ooc discussion or planning to be appointed.  If I was going for ooc reasons, and pure strategy, I wouldn't have Altagracia run in the elections, as she gets a lot more gold as a dame of Kazakh.  But "Countess of Poitiers" is a title Altagracia would want.

The thing is, she IS a Driscol.  And the Driscol estate is in Poitiers.  And that is designed into the game mechanics, and thus whatever we do IC, we cannot deny that fact.  Also, whatever my character says, her family's history is automatically her background story.

So I'd really like it if, instead of resenting and accusing me of not roleplaying, you'd respond IC.  It's totally ok for your character to be upset that she was not elected, and to hate Altagracia for it.

I got this message after clickin on the "vulgarity" link, on a message my adventurer got from a noble.  My guess now is that, as an adventurer, he shouldn't have the option to report vulgarity.  But the link was there.  So perhaps the message should be different?

I admit it.  I am a n00b.  Then again, this ambassador thing is new to most of us, isn't it?

What is the difference between having my realm propose a treaty to two other realms, and having two different treaties, one for each realm?
I think I should have drafted two different open border treaties, one with D'Hara and another with Terran, instead of having a "oh, let's the three of us be good neighbours" treaty involving Barca, D'Hara and Terran.  RP-wise, I decided that it would be more interesting to have meetings and discussions and agreement between three realms.

Wiki / The Wiki - A Valid In Game and In Character Source?

What is it with people in OW? The treaty is ON THE WIKI. Read it.

The problem was that the treaty was made on the wiki but not played IN GAME. 
The game should be played in the game, not in the stupid wiki. 
The player of Galiard Scarlett seemed to be playing a whole different game than the rest of Ohnar West, with a forum and a constitution and a treaty that were all published on the wiki but not talked about in the game where it is supposed to be played.

 And yes, that pisses me off.  I play Battlemaster.  I do not play Wikimaster.

Ack, settling and starting up a new colony is so slow that it gets frustrating.  There is only one recruitment center that still hasn't recruited anyone.  And I built a scouts guild but it took ages to make one scout available.  Doing nothing but wait is getting a little bit boring.
