No. If you do not control the battlefield, you cannot start a takeover.

It makes sense. Thanks for the replies.

When a TO is running, the realm running the TO is always the defender.
Only a region owner fighting as the Defender, can use the walls. Therefore, when an active TO is running, no one gets the walls.

One question regarding this matter of TO's and walls: is there any possible way to enter a region guarded by a garrison and start a TO (avoiding to engage in combat with the defenders), in order to refrain them from using the walls?

I was supposed to be a joke, as far as I know the Night's Watch will be an independent realm. Nevermind.  :P

Hey, there's been a little change in the plans: Barca is going to hold the Night's Watch Realm. So please, send your nobles, food and gold supplies to us. A lot of them, please.

The future of Humanity in Dwilight depends on you. Thank you.

Isolated case? 4 reports from a minimum of 2, if not 3 nobles. This was despite apparent orders from Julius to stop - a claim of no honor is sort of a side effect to an epic failure to follow the simplest of orders for 3 days in a row. Means either people simply don't care, or aren't bothering to read the orders given.

Sorry, but no. When that happened for the first time, some nobles, ruler, general and judge reprehended the author of the killing spree, and a whole debate started. Some of us argued in favour of the poor Lurian peasants and some others just thought they're just goat [email protected]#$ and manifested openly their will to keep on killing them.

Before a second killing spree started, Suffete Julius quoted the letters where our Fissoan allies threatened with the withdrawal of their support. And then, as some Barcan characters played a villainous and rather egoistic role, the following carnages occurred.

I have to admit that some killing spree even had a really cool RP behind, and the two nobles banned for that left the realm quite epically. That's pretty much what happened. Anyway, it's not like it matters much at this point.

Well obviously Barca sucks. Their nobles have no loyalty, no trust in their allies, and don't like to communicate but then complain that their allies didn't magically arrive right when Barca did.

Yeah, sorry. After crossing the sea, going through Fissoan regions towards Luria and not seeing monsters, then receiving a letter from Fissoan generals threatening to withdraw their support because of an isolate case of killing of peasants in a Lurian region, kind of made us hesitate. That along with the absolute absence of a single ally until we got screwed up.

I'd like to see what D'Harans would have done in a similar situation.

And Barcans thought their allies could help. See? More signs of incompetent leadership. They didn't even know their allies were in no shape to help them.

I hope Lurian leaders won't disappoint you that bad, it almost looks as if Barcan "incompetent leadership" has forced you to join our enemy.

Moreover, what else could have been done? If we delayed the departure from Barca, monsters there and wearing would have diminished our forces. We thought our allies would have been ready for our arrival, but it's clear now they weren't.

Of course Barcan command could have done things better, but it's normal to make mistakes when some of them maybe faced the first invasion operation. As you say we could have stabbed in the back our allies, but yes, we're supposed to be lawful. And with no ally support in the east, would have Luria and their Asylonian pals received our new realm with wide open arms?

What really bothers me is that we haven't seen any ally on this until our troops have been butchered. And if that has nothing to do with the monster uprisings, then I'd say that is incompetent leadership.

The negative attitude is not shared IG by anyone but those who decide to leave. Those determined to keep playing and carving a new realm don't leave either their realm or the game.

Honestly, wasn't enough to screw the whole western island in Dwilight up? I understand the idea of popping some monsters in the eastern island to keep the realms there busy. But sending tons of monsters eastwards from the devastated west is about to just erase any possibility for many of us to have a chance to get new lands. Or at least in Barca. Which is the purpose for that?

It's a really cool idea, Roran. But wouldn't an hypothetical monster invasion come from the north-west? Monsters were lately travelling to the western island through the north, which is connected by land, right?

I mean, it this "Night's Watch" is thought as a wall against monster invasions, maybe it'd be more reasonable to settle it in the north. If it's intended as a "beach's head" for realms to keep human presence in the west, I guess the locations proposed would work fine.

Hope to see it working soon!  :)

Sure, I guess it's in part because you issued the war declaration when all southerner forces were at two paces from their borders  :D

Don't take what my characters say to heart OOC. I play some mean, nasty characters. It is not reflective of my attitude OOC.

I know, Stabbity- I mean, I don't know you, but I can separate IG and OOC. I've been playing the game for a while and I don't go crying on a corner when IG something doesn't happen as I expected. Some people don't like to play lawful characters, and I understand, even when sometimes it has ruined others' fun, as I've read within this forum.

I'm with what Logar says, a general etiquette guide that at least, makes everyone acquainted to play for oneself's fun, but taking on account the other players' around fun. That's something that, in my opinion, would have saved some cases in The Courthouse.

I can confirm the Himoura character quoted the wiki explanations about this matter, and honestly I wouldn't have come with this matter if I'd have had the information Stabbity gives.

The other character complained to the rest of the realm about a personal vendetta that was supposedly started by the Himoura:

Letter from Raedwald Wuffingas   (3 days, 5 hours ago)
Message sent to everyone in your realm (24 recipients)
    Nobles of Eponllyn,

I believe the lady Himoura has started a feud with my house. 'I will destroy your entire house. Root to stem.' As a result I feel I am now a threat to Eponllyn's deal with Sirion and I may be forced to leave you and Eponllyn behind.

Raedwald Wuffingas

Letter from Raedwald Wuffingas   (3 days, 4 hours ago)
Message sent to everyone in your realm (24 recipients)
    Nobles of Eponllyn,

The Lady Himoura has also threatened to reveal my sisters location to the king of Perdan. she also mentioned she had connections to him and that she is willing to pass information to him about us as a realm. I believe this is the basis of a spy and 'spy's should be punished with death' as she clearly stated to me in a letter.

Raedwald Wuffingas

Maybe I'm wrong, but it didn't look like he had started "playing with fire" by these letters. In addition, as Stabbity says, one of my characters asked for an explanation to the Himoura, and in light of her attitude he informed the authorities in the realm she had joined ("failing miserably" on "trying to get her in trouble" with that realm, or warning it about a rather strange way of proceeding, read it as you prefer).

I will gladly quote the letters of the whole conversation if I'm asked to, in order to better understand the case. I didn't do that at first instance because I wasn't issuing a formal accusation, but pointing (in my opinion) an excessive IG harassment that had resulted into a noble less for a continent re-adjusted precisely due to their lack. If the player actually thanked you after all, which I thought impossible after reading what I read, there's little more to say then.

I've been wondering if posting the thing or not, but after thinking how the balance in this case has resulted, I think it deserves some reflection. Knowing that some people have already had some issues with the player involved has made me take the decision as well.

Basically, a newcomer to the game joined Eponllyn (EC) a short time ago. Some time later, an Himoura joined the realm as well. When this first character mentioned that he had a commoner sister because some RP the player had invented, the insults against the character started from the Himoura.

Some of us defended that noble's position, in my case, mostly because of the harsh manner the Himoura was taking the accusations. After seeing some nobles from Eponllyn admonished the Himoura, his character left the realm (after just 3 or 4 days in it)

It would have remained an anecdote if the Himoura wouldn't have carried on insulting and threatening the other character, in what looked like a paranoid personal vendetta. The player ended up by deleting that character.

I'm sure that playing the [email protected]#$%^& character can be really fun sometimes, but I think something isn't working when it comes to the point to "scare" a newcomer to the game. Some experienced players can have some clue about how sometimes IG decisions make things get heated, while OOC you'd have a beer with your opponent. I'm not proposing to be overprotective with newcomers, but after talking so much about BM's need of fresh blood, seeing one leaving because of the behaviour of a character is disappointing. And even more if the characters from that family have such a controversial record.

Briefly, it's okay if someone likes to systematically play the arrogant/quarrelsome/Machiavellian role. But it's not okay when you look like a psycho-prosecutor in a MMORPG, where the target could end up by thinking "okay, f**k this game and all freaks behind".

Sorry if I might have sounded bitter, but honestly this matter has disturbed me, and I think I'm not the only one.
