Beluaterra / Re: Good realm to join?

Actually the Duke of Creasur hasn't spoken yet. It's the Duke of Reeds who is so opposing the idea. We'll see what Remorse has to say about it, as well as the other council members. So far we've only heard 2 of them speak :)

Otherwise we'll have 2 other options to emigrate to I guess, ending up on the wrong side of the border. That would be funny in itself as well.

Remorse is a bit slow to reply sometimes, but we tend to agree (as I am the duke of Reeds xD)

Who says I was expecting a good welcome? I was expecting fun and so far I'm getting it. It fits perfectly with Ginas RP so far (if you would've known his rulership and everything).

But why shouldn't I come in to a country and 'negotiate/demand' a better place for my nobles? Better than serving some foreign lord and just boringly fight a war :p

Completely agree with you, it is fun. Just went with the wrong argument to the wrong duke

King of Kings? You must realize that I've never set foot on BT ever. Not on my old account either. Is that some sort of Arcaean Emperor concept or so?

Also I think I'm already making friends in Nothoi! The Duke of Reeds seems to be ready to kick me out I guess, after being there for less than a turn :)

Come on! You get there and say "hey give me half your realm or i'll fight for your enemy" to one of the oldest nobles, founder of the realm, and expect a good welcome?

BM General Discussion / Re: Closing Continents
« on: October 28, 2015, 06:30:38 PM »
That's no different from closing the EC and opening another island that has the same map. And for why we're not closing EC, see above re: "Tom's favourite island."

Aside the fact that i don't see this as a pretty valid reason, I still believe it would be better and give a more fair change to players that lose their main island. Everyone also knows that people does not stick together and do a mass move to one realm(since that would also be considering as making a clan).

In the end closing the other islands and having players move to EC with no compensation or anything at all would just be a way to punish them and show that the history and work they did in other islands is basically useless.

Can't do changes that will require too much work. After all, we have volunteers not full time workers.

EC will probably not go anywhere because that is Tom's favourite island and he will rather see the game destroyed first before seeing that island gone.

Hopefully there will be some changes to EC to make it more viable. Maybe adding sea travel or changing Obsidian islands to be more viable would be nice.

one thing i would do, would be to reset the island. Instead of making everyone having to just settle inside a realm, it would be fun to reset it and see the new realms forming.

Like it or not we also have to add the Chenier to the list.

Their actions caused great impact in BT

Yeah, what is the actual benefit of lowering the character limit in a continent from 2 to 1?

Aren't we having issues with players and noble density? Won't this just hurt the realms instead of helping it?

If that recent attack on Iknopata was any indication of Nothoi's capabilities, i have to wonder how they lasted this long to begin with...

TBH te realm was pretty tight and capable before, the problem is that most of the active/leaders kind of toke a step back, so now the realm is messy.

We didn't conquered what we did out of luck.

Plus we are alone on this now.

Nothoi's General almost won the war for Thalmarkin - sent an ultimatum to IVF, JV, and Rio to contribute more or face destruction

And now he have done it. His going after Nothoi's dukes as a judge and this may cause the realm to explode

My system is actually reading the messages in question, if such a case comes up, and using my brain to make a decision.

Yep a non-accurate system then.

You can keep asserting this all day, and I can keep asserting the opposite, but until you actually provide something new to support your argument, I really don't see us getting anywhere.

You also have not provide anything that support your argument that this is a good feature.

First you say everyone can already see this information, so we don't need it.
Then you say if we have this information, it will cause widespread micromanagement.
First of all, that's using two completely contradictory arguments to support your position.

Let me help you use your brain then.
You have information on how much gold a knight gets per week. If you want to micromanage things you have to put a lot more work in it, calculating how much gold a char receive, the size of his unit, expenses per week, family wealth increase, etc

Now if you make it easier to give this information to everyone, you will open up to people actually wanting to say how many troops a char should recruit, paraphernalia, how much gold they should invest or send to the realm to other nobles, food to buy, etc.

Just like it happened in the past when the % of each region was visible.

I get that you like the idea, but it does not make it good.

So, can you prove it that a IC harassment is not actually OOC? Or based on OOC motivation?

What is your system?

It is easy to discard everything with a "report to the Titans" reply.

There is no need to everyone to know how much gold a character has.

The ruler can see it, you have family information to display how much a family has, and you also have the weekly tax reports that shows to the realm how much a character have.

You can get the same information and average knight share from the weekly reports.

This feature will cause trouble both IC and OOC and bring back the micromanaging that existed when everyone could see the stats of a region.

There is no need to show how much gold one noble has. If it is in a war and char A has no unit and still get a lot o taxes, you can call him out, no need to add the amount of gold he has.

You have asserted that it will be bad, but have done nothing to demonstrate that.

Like Constantine said, if people start harassing someone who's hoarding gold OOC, then report it to the Titans. That's their job.

If people start bugging someone who's hoarding gold IC, to do something useful with it...well, then, what's the problem with that? Why should they be allowed to just hoard gold forever and not have anyone notice or care?

And do you have a good system to separate and indicate that the IC harassment is not extrapolating to OOC?

It would be very easy to harass a player and threat a banishment  OOC and claim it to be IC.

And it would be too easy to make a IC discussion overflow to an OOC discussion.

If people suspect about a player hoarding gold there are already systems to investigate and use it IC.

To give power to everyone to keep tabs at other players gold, is too toxic.

You also have a weekly report of how much gold a character receive, and you can see how much gold his family has in the character detail page.

I see no need for a public wealth list.

False. This might increase pressure over characters which is not a bad thing.
As always, if someone is making trouble and griefing people OOC titans can deal with it. We shouldn't instantly discard a feature because some player hypothetically might act like an ass over it.

You can not say that it will not make the environment for the game worse. Even IC, there will be problems.

There are already 2 features that can help to know the wealth of a Character/Family.

No need to add another one that has more potential to bring bad things than good.

Development / Re: Realm size control
« on: June 02, 2015, 04:19:11 PM »
Doubtful.

Mostly because of distant travel, but we DID actually hold them off for a while.

I don't think setting regions to rogue will help, I think what could do is to decrease their control, lordless regions can only have province control and make it harder for regions with a lord to drop to province.

This would help a bit, and would make it easier for other realms to take those regions.

The main problem is: there is not enough players for more realms, setting regions as rogue will not help and will only make people fight the monsters/undead that pops in from them without actually going to war.
