Is there a FP for the first time you are banished?

Banished from a realm other than your own?

I could swear there was a FP I got back in the day at the same time as a character (I think an Advie) got banished, and I just chalked it up to the Outcast FP. Looking on the Wiki, I see that is not confirmed.

Interesting. Thank you for the clarifications.

Is the total still 51? I have found nothing on the Wiki or Forum to say otherwise.

If that is correct, 44 are known (not including the skills as they are still unclear)

The "Well Rounded" has been confirmed, so I can increase that to 45 known. That leaves 6.

There are 7 "noble" skills, so those last 6 can't be one for each.
Swordfighting
Jousting
Leadership
Trading
Bureaucracy
Oratory
Infiltration

Unless Trading doesn't get you one, since it doesn't do much?

I am just shooting in the dark now. Perhaps this will cause someone else to think of something.

Hm.

I have long thought it was only the "combat" skills that would get you individual Fame Points, so my personal speculation is:

1 point for Exceptional SF
1 point for Exceptional Jousting
1 point for Exceptional Infil
1 point for three (any) Exceptional Skills

Exceptional being 50%

Sorry, allow me to clarify. I was asking if there is a point for a single exceptional skill, and a separate point for the triple skill? Or is it just one point for the triple skill?

Regarding Skills,

Is there one point for having a single exceptional skill, and then the "Well Rounded" point for having three skills above 50%?

I am quite positive I got a point when my Sword Fighting broke ~50%, but no other skills were up there. I don't remember seeing any points for other skills getting up there, and I have definitely had Sword Fighting, Infil, and Oratory all over 50%.

It might have nothing to do with the actual amount. Maybe it is for having three bounties placed against one character?

Jousting training matches would be cool. IIRC sword fighting training matches don't increase your skill, but they prevent the skill from degrading.

My thoughts are that duels are meant to settle arguments or slights. Jousting is more of a "sport" and less of a judicial system IMO.

That being said, I think there should be WAY more glory to jousting at tournaments, like they automatically get twice the purse that sword fighting gets or something. But that isn't the purpose of this FR, so I digress.

For clarification:

The inalienable rights are:

Playing at your own speed, timing and activity level, i.e. logging in as often or seldom as you like, at whatever times you like.
Choosing which type of unit to command
    Going to tournaments
Pausing your character(s) because you have a real life to attend to
    Choosing your class

Players were stripped from Government positions. Nothing was against the IRs.

I started playing somewhere around 2004/5.  I have seen Battlemaster at its prime.  I love this game.  I am angered at how players are being treated and controlled by two people.

1) The game changes. 2004 era BattleMaster had its own problems. The game is going to keep on changing.

2) Quite frankly, I am angered at how we have presented the red flags and warning signs, given the opportunity to reset all diplomacy and realign, and have pushed for OOC Admin/Ruler discussions, only to be ignored by the rulers and have the island fall back into the same problematic climate that we just pulled it out of.

This type of forum post is not constructive nor helpful in the least. If you want to help and be involved in the progression of this game, that door is wide open for anyone.

If you want to complain and rail against the "system", and cause trouble, then I suggest you find a different game.

I think there are really good points and counterpoints being brought up here, but I will ask that all participating remain civil and constructive, non-aggressive, and avoid any pointed digs or accusations towards specific players. This is not the appropriate avenue for that.

Luitolf, I completely agree. The Titans were an unknown entity to me until I had a year or so in-game. It is impossible to expect a new player to know to submit a Titan report if something is wrong.

That being said, the Titan team cannot be everywhere, and we do not actively police the game. It would be impossible to do so. So, I am really not sure how to prevent such situations. This is why I generally encourage people to submit a Titan report when they think something isn't right. One of two things will happen. Either we look into it, and it is not a breakage of rules, and everything is fine. Or it is a breakage of rules, and now we know about it and can do something about it.

An important responsibility of seniority is transitioning from learning the game to helping make sure new players are able to learn and enjoy it.

While I agree with what has been said here that players can enjoy the game just fine without being part of the Discord community, there is one point in the original post that I would like to talk about. In fact, I think it was the crux of his post, and that we have meandered slightly off point.

I rarely could voice an opinion without being diminished, dismissed, or mocked.

I have been on a personal mission to alter this, because it is a very real problem on Discord that I have witnessed and have had to deal with.

I have even been pinged as a Moderator or PM'd directly and told that a player is causing trouble on a channel just to find that "problem player" repeatedly trying to voice their opinion (non-aggressively, without swearing) and being met with a constant wall of "No" or "You are wrong". No discussion. No trying to see something from their side. Just blatant dismissal and rejection.

Quite honestly, it is often the players who deem themselves the "good" players, and it makes my blood boil. Anyone reading, if you have ever been that stone wall mentioned above because you don't like a player, I sincerely hope you feel ashamed.

This is a game. Discord is for discussing that game.

Every time I have encountered this, after the situation was diffused, I have messaged the player privately to discuss whatever concern they were trying to bring up. I let them talk. I ask questions. And literally, literally, every time they have said "Thank you, it was nice to just have someone listen". That seriously bothers me.

I have never fixed BM in those discussions. Heck, I don't think I usually fix the player's specific problem. But jeez, it isn't hard to sit there and actually listen to someone, let them voice their opinion, and then discuss it.

If you can't manage to have at least that much decency, then just avoid the topic and talk to other people.

Sorry for the rant. Gildre out.

Whew. That is quite the exposé Constantine.

First, I just want to say I appreciate your constructive arguments.

Second, I will be completely honest, I agree with a fair amount of what you said.

The staff has been actively trying to influence the course of the game for the longest time.

This is actually the one big thing I don't agree with, and I think it is important to note. The Titans and Admins are not wanting to interfere or influence the game. I want to assure you, or anyone else, of that.

Those incentives proved to not be very effective. Because the overwhelming majority of players do not want to play the game this way.

The is the other point I disagree with. Not because I think you are wrong, but because I don't think there is an accurate way to gauge this. I certainly haven't been in communication with the majority of players playing this game. Vocal majority does not necessarily equal the game majority. This is a project I have been undertaking personally, as I personally believe that it is incredibly easy for any of us to accept what the majority of people on Discord say, and the opinions of players not on Discord is not heard. I have been trying to reach out to players in positions of power throughout the game to seek out their opinions and open dialogue with them.

On to the things I agree with:

Now we are increasingly witnessing admins directly taking the steering wheel out of players' hands. I believe that this godmoding is absolutely terrible for a social/political game no matter how noble the motives are. And I will argue that motives may also be misguided.

There are certainly problems, and I am unsure whether it is growing pains we are experiencing or whether the system might straighten out as it moves forward. I do think it is a little to early to tell though.

With admins basically dictating to players which wars they are allowed or not allowed to fight, which part of the political game is now actually left to players' own agency?

Very little in that instance. However, players are allowed to choose which wars they fight or don't. It is only the extreme left and right that we are seeking to influence

I like BM because it is a simulator of both politics and military strategy. Where diplomatic blunders may have devastating consequences or bad things just happen out of the blue and you need to try and recover or take the L. That's how great stories are forged.
I never wanted to play a "fair play" simulator. Who wants that in BM? Why?

This resonated with me deeply. I have often called BattleMaster a political sandbox. It is what pulled me in, filled me with intrigue, and kept me interested for years. It is honestly insane how (personally) torn I am on this subject. On one hand I love the cut-throat, no safety net, every pirate for themselves sandbox that BM can be. On the other hand, I understand that it is in no way an uncontaminated system. There is meta-gaming, OOC motivations, and things of that nature. These are an ever growing concern as OOC communication systems continue to evolve. Last, I also feel for players who are on the recieving end of horribly overbalanced conflicts. That being said, we are in no way preventing realms from losing wars or from being destroyed. We just want it to be worked for, rather than being a steam roller. Not perfectly realistic in a political setting, but I do strongly believe this is the best way to spread fun to the most people.

The real problem of BM was never unfair wars. It was always stagnation. It is realms and alliance blocks potentially staying the same way forever once an equilibrium is reached.

I couldn't agree more.

I can confidently say that the Admins/Devs are completely open to discussion, contribution, and suggestions.

So that leads me to ask:What exactly can we do about it? What can we do to fix it?

I am pretty sure it can't be just how many regions your religion has spread to. I just counted it at 56. I am suspecting it is how many regions have reached a certain threshold of followers. Perhaps something like 20 regions at at least 25% or 10 regions at 50% or something. I am keeping track of this now as well.
