BM General Discussion / Re: in game misogyny?
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:35:21 PM »
I really do not intend any finger pointing at all. Please don't take it that way. There has been some more comments in a realm I play in and it just really took me by surprise. In my years of playing this game, and I have been playing since 2009, there have been very few instance where I have been offended as a female player. I know where my vulgarity button is.

And just to give BM the props it deserves: one of the things I like about it so much about this game is that it circumvents so much of the bs that you encounter as a woman in gaming culture. My success (or lack thereof) is not connected to my physical self. The dynamics of being a woman are totally different and really very freeing here. And most of the female players I've 'met' on BM are tough, and smart, and awesome.

BM General Discussion / in game misogyny?
« on: May 28, 2014, 07:42:17 PM »
Out of curiosity, how legit is it to the culture of the BM world to be a misogynist? Are opinions of 'women are weak' or 'women can't be rulers' acceptable? I know characters can be mustache-twirling-kitten-eating-bad-guys who have offensive opinions AND that does not mean that the players are evil schmucks too. But, in the culture of BM, is it cool to denigrate women solely based on their gender?

Helpline / change realm flag?
« on: January 09, 2013, 01:06:08 PM »
How does one go about changing the flag of a realm? Do you need to have an image of the flag completed? Does it need to be approved of by... someone? If so... where might one find a graphic designer or some such lovely, talented person (blatantly fishing here) to make said flag and where does one get it approved?

Helpline / Re: recruitment center repair
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:00:40 PM »
Thank you, everyone, for the answers. And yes, I understand that recruiting more troops does not actually "repair" equipment but distribute that damage across a larger number thereby decreasing it... I just wondered if the same principals applied to recruitment centers.

Thanks. :)

Helpline / recruitment center repair
« on: June 29, 2012, 02:20:25 PM »
Will enlarging a recruitment center repair some of the damage it has sustained? I am in danger of losing a very good recruitment center (is at 88% damage) and can't do anything about the production levels in the region. I was thinking that enlarging it might help me save the rc, the same way that when you add recruits (enlarge your unit) it reduces your equipment damage.

Advice?

Aww... it's sad to think of Arcaea without Jenred. Take care in real life!

BM General Discussion / Re: Are infiltrators honorable?

And you can gain honour by burn/rape/killing too.  Goes down to realm culture, and Arcaea has been home to disproportionate numbers of infiltrators for years.

May have something to do with the King being a former infiltrator, which is common knowledge at least in-realm, not to mention there being an infil-centric religion and infiltrators being key factors in Arcaea winning several wars.

Wow. I really wish I had known that. And here I just thought it was a fun realm.

BM General Discussion / Are infiltrators honorable?
« on: October 07, 2011, 03:14:16 AM »
In a discussion about laws and execution of infiltrators I'm getting some pushback by other characters saying that infiltrators should be treated as just as honorable as every other class.

The thing is that I was under the impression that infiltrators walk a dishonorable path not meant to be flaunted. Especially as the wiki says stuff like, "there is no honor in taking such a path", "All the actions of an Infiltrator are illegal and dangerous", and "Paranoia, danger and silence - such is the world of the infiltrator." I rather was not expecting a bunch of people to get up and say that infils should be treated with the same respect as cavs and that we certainly should not execute them.

Having a good ic debate is great and I appreciate that the culture of this realm is very tolerant of their infils... but I thought I was taking a reasonable stance for the game and I don't want to unknowingly be a bad guy. Are infiltrators to be treated with the same respect as a courtier or a knight?
