Other Games / Re: Medieval II: Total War - A Newb Modding Attempt

Hm, does it have a map editor? I've been looking for something that can create BM-style maps for a long time now...

Way old -- and I know I'd love to get back to this (life hit me like a truck and proceeded to run me over repeatedly for the next few years), but in case you're curious for an answer...

It's an involved process of creating images and plain text files mapping features, elevations, water, etc to particular locations on the map files themselves.

If I recall correctly, it's basically the same process as this for Medieval II.

I'm trying to get into game creation myself, so I guess to that end this could still be put to the wayside. And I think I lost at least most of my work from the multiple moves since. Sorry for the necropost.

However, if there's still strong interest in something like this, maybe I'll hone some of my skills here with bits of free time now and then. This mod would actually focus on some of my weakest points I think; I am a software developer, and probably a rather pedestrian designer.

I don't use your fancy squiggly pound sterling!

Joking aside, it looks nifty. I'll see if I can set something aside.

I've heard a ton of mixed things about it. I'm not really sure.

I've got a few games, including Gran Turismo.

Kirfkin on PSN.

I love Timber Wolf, 75 tons of lasers and long-range missiles. Clan mechs didn't seem overpowered in MW2 because you were fighting clanmechs--and elementals on one mission, those are impossible to hit.

Urban Mech, 35 tons I think? I think they are decent at urban combat.

It didn't have many guns, didn't have much armor, couldn't shoot that far, and couldn't run that far. Still, I managed to evade and shoot intelligently. When I thought I was going to die I rammed a mech off a cliff, survived, and killed him. And then I got sniped, fell over, did some damage, and finally died.

My next one was a medium mech, and much, much better. I can't remember what the 'game mode' was, but it was fun as hell and I really am considering getting into it.

I only played like twice, when I snuck into a war games convention. I had an Urban Mech, which was supposed to suck but I got three kills with it. Then when I died, I got something far better.

It wasn't a campaign, but it was fun as hell.

I enjoyed my time in it; well done game, I think. Never reached max level before I got too busy to warrant paying to play that rarely. I enjoyed the story aspects.

Don't take them making it F2P as it being a failure, as some people might be inclined to... Everyone compares every MMO to WoW, and every MMO looks like a failure next to it.

GW2 is running strong; SWTOR is running strong; from what I hear Rift is running strong. I'd say give it a shot!

Leatho hates Richard, but Richard is indifferent to Leatho. Though if Richard knew everything, he'd probably think Leatho is crying over who had more milk spilled between the two of them, and think he's not worth the time.

War. People die. People make mistakes. Richard suffered at least the same amount, but it's how it affected them differently.

I can only assume they took a gamble, or that I missed a PM about being investigated again.

You know, I attacked Lefanis this turn, too. :|

Oh well! I was close to winning. Killing him... And losing another one to lynching... Plus escape artist. Hah.

Is everyone okay? Rather, feeling okay? Should we open windows?

No, I suppose not. But I'm beginning to feel like I've been stuck in here for too long. I wish we could leave... but any, or all of us could be contaminated... Was anyone missing from the point at which we kileld the Thing?
