Colonies / Re: Lukon is too big....
« on: April 18, 2011, 10:59:25 PM »
Actually tho, I thought he would have reinforcements from the Assassins.  No one else knows about that request but Val and Aramon tho as far as I know.

Actually, I was planning for Assassin forces to arrive (and Minas Thalion forces too) since I've seen a couple of them walking about and there have been a few infiltrators skulking around. So I didn't know they were coming, I just presumed they were :D

But I guess I've just had 'surprise we brought extras' drilled into me from fighting Lukon back in the Alowca days :)

And yes, the Lukon army is going to walk up and destroy Giblot:

New Hostilities   (6 hours, 24 minutes ago)
Lukon has just signed a new War declaration called "The Complete Destruction of Giblot" against the realm of Giblot.

It should be fun! I think it might be a little more difficult for me to defend against this one. Back in Alowca we had just one region with a tonne of militia to fend off Lukon/Oreo forces. Now there's a few regions, Lukon/Tilog/Assassin(?)/Thalion(?) forces to defend against.

But I guess being only a Marshal this time and not a General, it's not my place to worry about that sort of things, I just have to win the battles given to me this time :P

I've never heard of the Dwilight University. Perhaps you could enlighten me about it?

This MUST be 'GM' interference, they hate us sooo much! :P ow and there is probably a gm playing in candiels!

No, no, silly. Tom plays in Madina! He clearly gave us loads of rogue forces so we can increase the training on our forces easily, then we can walk into Candiels and take it from their untrained men :D

Truly push the power of the rural regions by holding a realm to ransom by refusing to sell food for anything but extortionate prices!

And because Madina is a sad excuse for a realm?

Our mum said we're awesome :(

I'll agree with Valast on that one. My character was the General/Ruler of Alowca in its dying days, but she was still offered a place in Lukon (I think there was even an offer from Oritolon, as long as I didn't mind being shunned for a while).

Ugh, I wish I had more time to commit to this plot line at the moment. I'd love to write up a nice big RP about how honour demands the Madinan flag fly over the Candiels duchy once more, stating if they wanted to secede then they should have formally asked for it, paid Madina some compensation and then leave.

All I can muster at the moment is: "buy my food!" :(

Ahh well, maybe I'll be free for the next interesting thing to happen in Madina.....

Well if the Duke of Batesaor wanted to revive the old pirate realm, I'm certain a popular, trusted and skilled ambassador from Ohnar West would make her way back down to her old home... ;)

Would also be an excuse to check on the temple she left in Paplarmi, which has now been abandoned so I guess it's more "check the ruins of the temple she left in Paplarmi.

You may win, but I have a hard time believing Madina possesses any massive army

It's all relative, darling :P

If our previous armies were around 2k CS, then 6k CS is massive, right? :D

Don't be silly... Half of Madina would crush you, the other half would want to trade with you! :D

Beyond / Re: Status
« on: April 01, 2011, 12:32:42 AM »
Well, I've had a nice long think and today it was suddenly sprang on me that we're using Unity for the competition (not C++ as we'd been going with for the last month or so). Which means I need to brush up on my Unity skills.

So if you're cool with me using Beyond as a stepping stone whilst I get to grips with Unity, I can definitely give time to it.

I'd only be able to start after 13th of May (date of my last exam) and dedicate all day every day to it until either:

A) I start the competition which is mid-June (stop work on it completely), or
B) If I don't get into the competition, whenever I get a job (which I'll then have to cut back the amount of work I do, but probably not stop).

Funny. He apparently thinks Madina is greedy. Meh, really.

I think he just thinks my character is greedy: "50 gold per 100 bushels of food! Why? Because I need a new golden seat, the old one got a smudge on it!"

But yeah, this is going to be a fairly quick war. The army had already geared up to retake Madina city, so we've got a massive army ready to swoop in and take their capital (since it's only a quick boat ride away...). Shame really, surrounding Madina with realms would certainly make for some interesting politics if we ever got back to wanting to expand a bit more.

Without nobles, Madina will probably just end up letting Candiels et al go rogue. But the "if we can't have it, they can't have it" attitude will probably take over, so we have to take it back from them :P

He can't be banned? Why not?

The constitution says so. It's one thing Madina takes quite highly (I'd somehow forgotten about it in my last post). So game-mechanicly, he can be banned. But RP-wise, it doesn't make much sense in Madina.

Any Lord owns his land and anything to do with his land, he can do what he wants with it. Which is why my Lord sells his food for 50 gold per 100 bushels, even though everywhere around him is starving. It's basically a way of pushing power onto the Lords, making for some interesting situations where Lords of seemingly minor regions can hold the balance of power.

There's a lot of "I don't like what you're doing, but I'll defend to the death your right to do it" that goes on in Madina. Confuses some people at first, but you get used to it.

Wow that really means you hated him.

It was more an effort to remove him from office. The Duke didn't buy any food for the peasants of Madina, instead he expected free hand-outs (the constant buy order was set at 1 gold per 100 bushels). He didn't fund his army, nor issue it any orders (even though he was the Marshal) and he didn't actively seek out getting knights for the region, even when new nobles turned up.

I'm not overly sure why he wasn't just banned from the realm, but I guess this way was much more fun! :D

Other Games / Re: Proudest Gaming Moment?
« on: March 19, 2011, 08:37:29 PM »
Can't say it's my proudest moment, because most of those have been pushed to the back of my mind and distorted beyond all recognition, but one awesome one came last week.

I was playing Age of Empires 3 with five friends at university, it was a free for all on New England. I was as far away from the water as possible and so disadvantaged resource wise. After peeing off everyone with a cavalry rush to take out villagers at the start, everyone decided to forget it was a free for all and attack me (this started about 40mins in).

About 2 and a half hours of them bashing me, I was still alive, only two of them remained (and they were pretty much gone). We had to go to a class, but the breakdown of the scores put me in the lead with ~2k points, with second place on around 1.2k points.

I felt I accomplished something that day - mainly epic bragging rights towards each of them.

Oddly, we haven't played AoE3 since then.....
