Helpline / Contact List
« on: April 07, 2013, 05:59:47 AM »
On everyone's IC Contact List, there are apparently three types of contacts: Standard, Correspondent and Met. I have never seen a contact that was a "Met" before. All of mine are Standard or Correspondent. How do you get a Met contact?

Title: Notify Marshals and Vice-Marshals when nobles are added to or taken out of their armies.

Summary: When nobles are added to an army, there's no way for the Marshal to know unless he notices the new addition on the Army Information page. Having a message notify him when it happens would make things more convenient. It is his army - he would know when a new noble joins it or one leaves.

Benefits: Convenience for the Marshal.

Possible Exploits: None.

Other Games / Rad Soldiers
« on: March 22, 2013, 01:18:21 PM »
This is a neat little turn-based strategy game on iOS, in the style of Hunters or Final Fantasy Tactics (the square-based combat, rather than the setting or plot). If anyone's interested in a game, you can challenge me using my username: Velax.

It's simple, but its fun. It's multiplayer focused, so there's no real single player aside from SP Challenges that you can use to practice and to earn some coins to recruit new soldiers or buy weapons.

Far East Island / Far East Sieges
« on: March 22, 2013, 07:20:37 AM »
I've been noticing that wars in the Far East seem to have very few successful city sieges compared to other islands and have been wondering why. In fact, aside from the Arcachon war, I can't think of the last time a city was successfully sieged since Kindara destroyed Cathay. And that was, what, a year and a half ago?

Helpline / Rules/policies question
« on: March 17, 2013, 02:34:45 PM »
Is it against any rules or policies (specifically, the placeholder lord policy) for a lord to step down so another can be appointed to accomplish a set task, then have that lord step down so the original may retake his position?

For instance, if we wanted a temple of every religion on the continent built in a particular city (to create a Religious Quarter and promote religious tolerance, which the realm is big on), but the current lord cannot do it because he's the head of a religion (can't really ask them to quit a religion to join another to build a temple to it when he's the leader). Would it be fine for that lord to step down and another to take his place to build the temples and then step down when he's done?

Helpline / Old age
« on: February 20, 2013, 01:24:46 AM »
At what age do you start getting fewer hours per turn? One of my characters is only 36, but only receives 7 hours per turn. I thought that seemed a bit young for that to be happening.

Questions & Answers / What constitutes "exploiting a bug"?
« on: February 04, 2013, 04:27:56 AM »
Recently there was a character executed by one of the realms I play in. A bug resulted in this character remaining alive. Is continuing to play this character exploiting that bug?

Far East Island / Total area of each realm
« on: January 31, 2013, 02:04:11 PM »
I had some free time and thought I'd work out just how much of the Far East each realm covers, in square miles. Here's the list:

Arcaea: 83435 square miles (22.42%)
Cathay: 60276 square miles (16.20%)
Coralynth: 28672 square miles (7.70%)
Greater Aenilia: 43223 square miles (11.62%)
Kindara: 55809 square miles (15.00%)
Ohnar West: 34625 square miles (9.30%)
Principality of Zonasa: 41370 square miles (11.12%)
Sorraine: 24714 square miles (6.64%)
Total: 372124 square miles

Questions & Answers / Proposal for a new BM rule
« on: January 15, 2013, 01:03:26 PM »
Lately I've seen more and more people try to claim violations of the IRs where there has very obviously been no violation. Claims that calling for volunteers to change class is a violation. Claims that banning someone for refusing to respond or engage with the realm for two months is a violation. Caims that demanding a ruler step down violates his right to choose a class because the H/P penalty reduces his stats below the required amount. Blatantly ridiculous claims that anyone who's actually read the IRs should know are obviously wrong.

The current rule for threatening to contact the Titans is:

"One important rule is that you either contact the Titans, or you don't. Do not threaten other players with them."

I would like to propose a similar rule for the IRs:

"One important rule is that you either contact the Magistrates about IR violations, or you don't. Do not post accusations in-game or on the forums (except in the Courthouse)."

This would not stop people making their claims if the truly believe there has been a violation, but it will stop these idiocies propagating in-game and exposing new generations of players to false information. It will also encourage the people making these claims to actually read the IRs and so perhaps realise whether or not there has been an actual violation.

Feature Requests / More space between Diplomacy options
« on: January 04, 2013, 09:32:25 AM »
Title: More space between Diplomacy options.

Summary: On the diplomat's Diplomacy page, under the Diplomacy Actions options, the buttons for "Talk to the locals", Badmouth and Praise are extremely close together. It's very easy to hit the wrong one by accident, particularly on a mobile device. Just now I accidentally badmouthed Eston instead of praising Coria.

Putting a blank line between each option would make it much easier to navigate.

Benefits: Convenience and ease of navigation.

Possible Exploits: None.

BM General Discussion / How old is Battlemaster?
« on: January 01, 2013, 06:28:49 PM »
On the Announcement page Tom said:

Quote
Depending on your time zone, the new year will/has start soon/already.

On BM time, it is about 2 hours until the game turns 13. It was launched on January 1st, 2001 at 01:01.

Have a good New Year celebration all of you. I (Tom) will be away to celebrate now. See you all in 2013.

If BM was launched 1/1/2001, wouldn't that make it 12, rather than 13?

Feature Requests / Ability to establish funds
« on: December 25, 2012, 03:26:44 PM »
Title: Establishment of funds

Summary: Allow nobles to split their gold and bonds into several different funds. When paying your troops, sending gold to other nobles, etc, you can choose which fund that gold comes from.

Details: As a ruler, sponsor and marshal, I have multiple responsibilities and it would be extremely convenient if I could split up my gold/bonds into different funds for these responsibilities. For example, I would have:

1) A day-to-day fund for paying my troops, training, etc.
2) An army fund for gold that will be sent to army members to help them recruit and pay their troops.
3) A sponsor fund for when the warchest needs refilling.
4) An emergency fund for dire situations, such as when the realm is invaded.

Other funds could include one for purchasing food, or Academy training.

Funds could be set up - and gold transferred between funds - at a bank. When doing actions that require gold or bonds, such as paying your troops, sending gold to nobles, buying food, etc, you would choose which fund you wish to use for this purpose.

While you can have virtual funds at the moment by deciding where you will spend your gold, the ability to have actual funds would make this so much easier. I would love to just be able to have a separate fund for a specific purpose and transfer gold into it so it's not spent on something else.

Benefits: Convenience and improved organisational abilities.

Possible Exploits: None that I can see.

Helpline / Building palaces
« on: December 11, 2012, 03:55:25 AM »
Does the option to build a palace randomly appear for rulers, like recruiting volunteers or moving the family home for Heroes? Does the option only appear in the capital? And will the option appear if a previous ruler already built a palace in that city?

Questions & Answers / Request for an Inalienable Rights judgement
« on: December 02, 2012, 06:24:46 PM »
I'm posting this here because a person has OOC accused me of violating the Inalienable Rights, which I do not believe I have. I'm heartily sick of people thinking the IRs allow them to do whatever the hell they want, whenever the hell they want with no consequences, so I'm asking for opinions / a judgement on this.

My character - we'll call him Peter - is the ruler of realm X. Another character - let's say, John - has been in the realm for 57 days. During that time, John has done little beyond sitting in the capital. John has not recruited a unit, nor sent any messages to the realm, nor engaged with the realm at all. Peter has never seen John move out of the capital. Peter has sent multiple messages to John, asking him what his intentions are, asking him if he's going to actually engage with the realm, etc. John has not responded.

Eventually Peter had John banned, giving the following explanation:

Quote
More specifically, "John" has been banned for doing nothing but sitting in the capital for the last two months, draining X's gold. He has refused to recruit a unit, refused to respond to any messages and refused to contribute anything whatsoever to this realm. We do not tolerate such behavior.

A different player (not the player of Peter or John) then sent an OOC message stating this broke two Inalienable Rights:

Quote
"sitting in the capital for the last two months," -> activity is protected under inalienable rights.

"He has refused to recruit a unit," -> unit recruitment + class are also protected under inalienable rights.

"refused to respond to any messages and refused to contribute anything whatsoever to this realm." ->

How much someone contributes is both a matter of opinion, and also arguably connected to activity, and therefore protected under inalienable rights.

I would like some sort of judgement on this, please, as I am tired of these sorts of messages from people who do not understand the IRs properly.
