Dwilight / Re: A love letter from Bowie Ironsides
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:49:57 AM »
Hey, would ya look at that Ma, my letter made it to the forums. Kewl  8).

If you like that little gem wait until the Ashrak Imperialist gets in full steam. Oh boy, you guys are really in for it. It'll be chalk full of lambasting and lampooning, and much more! My favourite feature of it thus far is the "Duckface Ridicule Corner." That poor poor boy. He elbowed a bees nest when he pissed off Bowie. Now he's in for a world of insistent and sharp bantering. If only he gave in to the Demon's pressure..if only he did the wrong thing, his reputation may still be with us today. RIP "Prime Minister" Kalince's integrity as a noble! Bowie's treading his muddy boots all over it! He should have looked into Bowie's past before making him an enemy; particularly Bowie's regard towards Edward Raiva (and Cenarious Stormrage for that matter, and for some reason Allison Kabrinski...and Rathan Himoura. Wow, Bowie has a lot of enemies). There is a reason he earned the title "Badmouther of the Raivanlands!" Mwahaha!

Stay tuned children - same Demon-time, same Demon-channel!

You are right! Damn you bowie Ironsides!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bowie could never keep something like this a secret, he's too much of a self promoter. Besides, forging letters is too devious and dishonest for his type of villainy. Yes he is possessed by a demon but he never lies.

I hope this turns into something big. It could shape the next Dwilight era.

General Talk / Re: How many Canadians do we have?
« on: October 25, 2011, 05:56:28 AM »
Yay I'm Canadian! I'm from Southern-Ontario (the finest part of the whole country). Within thirty kilometers (that's roughly nineteen miles to you yankees) of the Big Smoke, aka the Hammer, aka Steel City (Hamilton) to be precise.

I've never been out west but around here people make it out to be the Last Best West again, even though I know people who've gone there to make it big but returned disappointed. Quebec is a nice place. I don't get to go there too often. I've never been out East but I would like to. Anyone from the Atlantic provinces?

None of my characters have a Canadian feel. I wouldn't even know how to do that....themes of Canadian literature include surviving in hostile wildernesses, maybe Dwilight characters could reflect that, eh?

Development / Better Trading = More Fun Trader Class
« on: September 13, 2011, 01:23:44 AM »
I played my character on Dwilight as a trader for a little while but had to stop because there was nothing to trade. Everyone wants food but no one wants to give it up. Therefore, being a trader was useless unless I stole from the black market. The trading class should be revamped to be more fun and dynamic. It has a lot of potential for traveling and contact/relationship building and the lure of easy wealth. There are very few active traders as far as I am aware because of this limp class.

Any thoughts? Maybe trade in diamonds/silks or other luxury goods? Potential for wealth and prominence?

I remember an attempt to bring more trading goods to the game like wood and stone or something, what happened to that?

I'm having a hard time understanding how the magic works, thus I'm not sure what sort of character to build. Is there an easy table or chart that shows the math formulas for all of that magic stuff?

P.S: I'll probably create a villain  8) anyone interested in discussing concepts with me? I'm thinking of creating a council with multiple magic users' souls contained in one body, but I'll say no more until I figure out what's going on... If you would like to learn more message me in private -mwahaha.

I'm sure there's a way to transport the guild down. It would be really fun to have a continental dueling sport. That's the objective of the Convocation (and my bias towards it :) ) If you sent up a delegate I'm sure we would receive them hospitably, maybe even spoil them with a festival!  8)

There was enough popular demand for the feature, that eventually the need for something to handle it was pretty clear. It took some convincing, but we finally were able to convince Tom to let us add the training matches. You'll notice that there are some significant differences between training matches and real duels, though.

I am glad they changed their minds. We're having a lot of fun with ours. Thank ya kindly!

Hmmm I wish one of you lot would bring it over to eastern Dwili :D

If you are willing to take a trip to Donghaiwei then you can bring the club down yourself  :P.

Here is the wiki we've created: http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Convocation_of_the_Sword

Come one, come all! Try to beat Morek's best! If you can....

Just as a note, to head off the inevitable posts as I've already had a few people ask:

Yes, this is allowed (so long as they keep to training matches).  That was one of the explicit reasons behind implementing training matches.

It's funny how after all of our arguing and persuading, and after they put the laws against dueling for sport and shut down our dueling guilds they go ahead and allow training matches. I'm glad, but wished they allowed it much much sooner. The Dwilight Dueling Circuit was a good idea now sunk. Oh well, we're onto the Convocation now!

Hello everyone.

I'm trying to design tables for the new dueling sport "Convocation of the Sword" on Dwilight (come join, it's fun!) but all my tests have turned out wretched. My simple score board sort of works/looks nice. I'd like to design a table for the teams. It should have one header column that says "Team Such Such," then I wanted the next column to be split in half beneath the first full sized column. I can't seem to have one complete column above two smaller half columns. Beneath the two half columns I want to put in a list of the team members. I'll add in colour after too, if I can get the thing to look right.

I've been trying a variety of things off this: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Table, but my attempts aren't working properly.

Anyone able to help out? Much appreciated.

.... Now, I have heard absolutely nothing about him since...June?

Interesting to notice and you are right. I have been distant from the game for a while now. Both because I've been busy this summer in real life and because I got bored (Tom forgive me). I've been logging in once a week, at odd times, and even paused two of my b-list characters. I don't know why, there's just nothing much attaching me to the game right now. I think, though, that I will attempt to reconcile my relationship with Battlemaster before the summer is finished and by September I could be back in full swing. I still have projects in cold storage I can bring out like much of the historical work I was doing for Dwilight, and a project or two for Morek. Who knows though, maybe I'll revive something old, maybe I'll create something new. Let's see what happens, eh?

I sincerely apologize to all of you I have let down in my absence and I hope this marks my return :)

We're getting a little bit off topic, but I think there SHOULD be a place to advertise your realm in the forum.

I try to look at every single realm on a continent when I'm making a new character. I avoid the ones that have a blank/tiny wiki page. I also try and use the duchy picker to find a realm that needs a knight and that has activity.

If we had an advertising forum, I would definitely look at how the realm is presented, and whether they were represented in the forum, to determine if I would like that realm.

Isn't that what the realm's wiki is used for? A big ad space/archive.

Ohhh, well then really its Allison who should be looking to do something outside of the routine otherwise Gustav can't have any fun  ::).

Update on Bowie's position: he is nine hours away from Sallowwild.

Maybe it is because Gustav is a "loyal" soldier that you find him so routine. Perhaps you should be thinking about befriending Bowie instead of opposing him? Gustav could experience a whole slew of new things down that road... 8)
