Have fun, he doesn't talk much.

Neither does Armstrong, I guess I'll have to change that.

...
That is your first noble, congratulations :)

message to all nobles of Fane
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore has joined your realm. He used to be a noble of Nivemus.

Ha! Fane has someone no one else has, we've got Dumbledore!

Success!

Where did Fane's crest come from? That's actually a pretty nice coat of arms.

I made them :)

Wait a minute, why it has only 1 city and no rural? And only 1 noble? I thought seceding usually take a lot of efforts beforehand to ensure the city is well-fed and sustainable, etc. I never secede before, not even a Duke, so what happen here? ???

I call it "white secession." I took nothing with me but the city and Armstrong, no collateral regions or knights. Nifty trick, eh?

RIP Westmoor and Fane you both lived great lives.

Not necessarily.

The little game of chess for Oligarch has begun. I know the intention of one of the continental powers for sure, maybe two, possibly three but uncertain, but what of the rest?

Well, I will say that Armstrong is a very deliberate and methodical person (exact opposite of Bowie) and as far as he is concerned he is completely content. And as for me, his puppet master, I have a wide smile on my face! Now that's why I play BattleMaster!

 ;D

For the record, Armstrong and Bowie are completely different people. I did spend time building each character separately. It isn't fair to me to compare their actions and motivations.

But as for Fane, hot dog ain't this gonna be a fun ride! It's intended to be a city-state, first ever.

One noble now, but "if you build it, they will come."

Let all glory loving and wealth seeking knights flock to Fane! If it lives post-womb, it just might have massive potential in the future  8)

Oh, and I had *thought* Pierre von Genf had a higher elder rank than Bowie as Dean of Students or some such, but maybe we never got around to actually promoting him. Pretty sure it was discussed though.

He is, but he wants to resign.

Ahhh... I forgot that old history of the DU. Too bad it turned out like it did.

The funny thing is that the DU was supposed to create discussion and allow for all nobles to express their views. I never understood why nobody challenged Bowie the entire time he made his polemics and his histories (which were actually quality works by the way). If the DU became polarized to one viewpoint it is because the other side never bothered to build its own camp. Nobody would have stopped them, just like nobody bothered to stop Bowie. Instead they fled the debate!

He's infamous because he's an annoying and loud !@#$%^&.

Antagonist is the polite word,  ::)

Several has mentioned Bowie Ironsides. How did he become so infamous anyways? ...

Reputation largely, mythology even larger. Bowie had a marvelous PR agent  :P

That was Rathan Himoura.

Ohhh, that's right! Just Rathan? Not a sequel? Or a trilogy or anything?

That scoundrel! ...I wish he were still alive....

Raziel II Himoura, or was he the third? Stabbity, which one of your Raziel's played in D'Hara (I still haven't forgotten what he did to me! Brilliant!)

Chat does not create a game.

Ya, none of us expect this to happen, but it sure was fun to talk about!

Cool!

Just like there is Axis & Allies Second World War + little expansions, there should be Battlemaster + one continent themed spin-offs *(each spin-off gets only one continent). It would be a ton of fun for everyone (except the people who actually have to do the work  :P ) - But I'll help in anyway I can, with any talents I have available!

I'd love to play Battlemaster in the 17th-18th century era. I know it would be a ton of work to rewrite all of the code and give everything a new face, but it would be awesome! So let's chat about it and see if our imaginations can make a game worth playing! What sorts of things would you guys want to see in this new game?

I want cannons on the battlefield, and Napoleonic Era monarchies, and pistol duels.

Et tu?

As ruler I have no estate. I can't take an estate in BR because the stronghold is already under a duchy and thereby I would be below the hierarchy line. I can't secede the stronghold to make it its own duchy because there is no Lord there. Our other Duke cannot appoint me Margrave because I would first need an estate in the stronghold. So because I am the top noble in the hierarchy line I have zero power to decide who reigns BR.

Or people could try to share power with fellow players, particularly newer ones, instead of playing margrave/duke/kings. Might help keep some newer players around to get them involved.

My ruler position is an elected one, not permanent (and part of the deal for me to become Duke/Margrave was that I won't campaign in the next election). More than that, we don't want to give away the capital duchy to just anyone, we already suffered enough as it is because of the previous guy. Plus, we held a vote for Bowie to become Duke. Everything is a green light for this to go down except for the game mechanic. I don't understand why a Ruler can't do this...

The way it is right now isn't exactly the way it was intended. The lack of ability for a Ruler to make himself a Duke was an oversight, and we're still working on what the best way is to get it implemented.

But I'm afraid it isn't currently a top priority.

Oh...well, great.
