Dwilight / Re: How to help Dwilight.
« on: December 03, 2014, 09:44:47 AM »
I have a character in LN (not that it matters for what I'm about to suggest).

My thoughts for helping Dwilight are to improve travel times by sea and reduce/modify the winter travel penalties. The long travel times on Dwilight have been brought up here and elsewhere. It is a change that doesn't favor any specific realm.

Sea travel: There are many sea zones that take 13-14 hours to sail across and you can't auto set your next travel like on land. I would suggest increasing the travel speed so that most can be sailed across in 12 hours or less. Adding the ability to set your next destination would also be appreciated.

Winter travel: It takes a ridiculously long time to travel between regions in winter. While it might be realistic, it also isn't fun. Perhaps the winter penalties could be adjusted to not be as harsh.

Dwilight / Re: Luria Nova vs The Rest

What's interesting about this is that both sides probably consider they are gaining ground, and so if the trend continues they will be the victors. D'Hara was left with barely anything when the war started, Barca lost all of their mainland and yet established themselves a beachhead, and Fissoa took a few regions they never had or had not had save for very brief periods. From this perspective, they are winning and gaining ground. Luria Nova, on the other hand, can probably look at how they destroyed Asylon, how they retook Giask from them, how they retook Shinnen from Barca (they had lost it, right?), and so on.
Luria never lost Shinnen. We did lose the Purlieus, but LN retook that about 1 in game year ago.

Astrum has finally decided to declare war.

Helpline / Re: What will happen if an army sponsor left the game?

I think it depends on where the army is based out of maybe?

An army sponsor deleted in a realm I have a character and the game gave the sponsorship of the army to the ruler.

Helpline / sympathy positive feedback loop?
« on: September 02, 2014, 07:45:09 AM »
My character on Dwilight (Ezra, Lord of Shinnen) is an Ambassador and has been trying to mitigate the penalties from having a sympathetic populace.

It seems like sympathy to every realm slowly creeps back up despite the efforts of our realm's diplomats. For example, 4 turns ago Shinnen is very loyal to D'hara and like Fissoa (both realms at war with Luria) according to the diplomacy report. This turn, they are deeply devoted to D'hara and very loyal to Fissoa. From reports I've gotten around our realm, it seems like the sympathies to every realm on the island slowly creep upward.

It is nice having everyone come to us. I would hate to be in Morek and march from their capital to Luria. That must be what, 2 weeks travel and even longer in winter?

I'm pretty sure the only two subclass options for Priests are Hero and Diplomat.

Dwilight / Re: The relentless monster hordes
« on: July 31, 2014, 03:05:47 AM »
How'd they lose the city? I didn't see any reports of a defeat.
Maybe the battles fell below the huge battle level before they lost to the monsters? The number of defenders had been shrinking.

Dwilight / The relentless monster hordes
« on: July 30, 2014, 10:36:23 AM »
in the south, Monster hordes have finally overrun Candiels after attacking nearly every day and sometimes every turn. (though it still shows up as part of Fissoa ???) No huge battles reported at Tower Fatmilak so I'm guessing that is as far as the Monster Hordes will advance down south.

(rogue) has taken control of Candiels. The region used to belong to Fissoa.

In the north, the hordes have been attacking Mimer less frequently but still fairly often. Did the Theocracies awaken something in the depths to allow monsters to attack the eastern sub-continent?

From Tim's character in Taselak:

The South Island region turn script bugged out. I'm looking into it.

Swordfell could expand if it joined Luria's side.  ;D There's some nice beachfront property right there.

Feature Requests / Improved World News
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:17:26 AM »
Title: Improved World News
Summary: Expand the World News for each world to be more accessible and to include more world events.

Details: Currently World News (http://battlemaster.org/testing/worldnews.php) contains about 2 months worth of history and only includes the following events:
  • Huge Battle Fought
  • Government Reformed
  • Rumours of a Miracle
  • Public Execution
  • Rebellion
I propose two changes.
Change 1: add additional events:
  • Change of seasons
  • City and Stronghold change of ownership
  • Federation or War declarations
  • Tournament declared/tournament results
  • Duchy Allegiance changes
  • Founding of new Realm
Change 2: Increased accessibility to world news.
Currently you can only read the world news for the island you have characters on. The new dynamic maps allows players to see the maps for all islands, the world news pages should be changed to also be accessible regardless of whether you have a character on that island. links to the world news for each island could then be added to the information side bar section as well as to the character creation screen section where players choose which island they want a character on.
Not sure if it's possible to give access to this to people not logged in as a RSS feed? Could be added to email reminders to people who are inactive?

Benefits:
Change 1 benefits - The Current world news doesn't help give players a good idea of what is happening on a continent as it doesn't include many important events.
Change 2 benefits -  At character creation, being able to read the world news for each island would help players make informed choices of where they want to have a character. Being able to follow events on other islands could help players decide to start characters on those islands as well.

Possible Downsides or Exploits: None that I can think of. The information added is already (as far as I know) accessible to anyone with a character on that island.

Development / Re: Improved World News ?
« on: June 12, 2014, 09:34:20 AM »
I'd go further with updates to world news.  Some times we lose players to slow boughts in the game, or player time to sort through it all if they are inactive for a while.

It would do much better to turn it into a more comprehensive report, even if updated monthly to avoid spoilers.  Then, auto-email a link of the ticker generated news to accounts inactive for more than a few weeks every month.  Either keep our players filled in during longer planned leaves, rekindle interest in those that stepped away, or even just get everybody the option to subscribe for !@#$s and giggles.  I think it would help with retention at least.

Any specific events you'd want the world news to capture?

I like your suggestions and additions.

A permanent archive of world news would be great.
I agree, A permanent archive or at least longer span of time would be good.

Development / Re: Drafting
« on: June 12, 2014, 09:30:38 AM »
It makes sense, but I don't think it would be easy/practical to make this change. The game doesn't currently differentiate between troops trained normally and ones that are drafted.
