Fatmilak and Madina before that.

Technically, Tower Fatmilak. Fatmilak itself is the rural surrounding the city.

I'd forgotten all about the regions in Dwilight where they surround the cities as extensions of the city proper. That layout would help with the mechanic for for sieges, I would think, since it does typically cut off all land access to the city in question. Though Tower Fatmilak and Madina, I think, have sea routes attached to them.

I guess if we had sieges we'd need a way to blockade the harbor too.

I don't know what most of these events are, but this really is fantastic.

Very well written.

In a shocking turn of events, Yung Dlrt, Lord of Jerkel, rediscovered the ancient, forgotten Viking drink that is known by legend as "button". The act of drinking such a magical drink, which is referred to by the stories as "pressing buttons", is supposed to imbue the drinker with a wide variety of entirely random, quite mysterious, and sometimes very dangerous qualities.

The button in question imbibed by Yung gave him the ability to go absolutely berserk and destroy a local temple of the Horgr. When confronted with his heresy by local leader of the faith Salem O'Claude Ve, Yung admitted to having pressed the wrong button and offered to repay the faith for the destruction of the temple and build a new one.

It is now expected that Yung will share the recipe for making buttons and share them with his Viking comrades. This will either lead to a lot of excellent Viking parties or the downfall of Atamara as we know it.

'let's all go charge that giant wall'

And sometimes that doesn't even work once they start throwing vegetables and farm animals at us.

Aside from siege engines, have actual siege mechanics been considered for BM? I suppose it may not be terribly exciting, but it could open up some interesting mechanics perhaps.

the lack of animosity between the players is one of the nicer things about it.

I like to poke fun here and there, but I agree with you. Most players do a good job of keeping the hostility from spilling over and I havent always seen that in other continents.

It's quite nice.  :)

so the kind of grandstanding you might want to do on other islands to affect the opinion of neutral realms is almost entirely unnecessary.

Boo. Even if you know who stands where, all that grandstanding is like 85% of the fun of being a ruler.

Is Atamara always so quiet in the ruler's channel during a war or does the whole of Atamara just not care? Over half the war declarations against Heorot have gone without anyone bothering to even say why they're doing it.

I figured having a ruler on Atamara for the first time would be a bit more exciting than this, but its turning out to be not a whole lot different than just playing with a bunch of quiet players in the Barony.

what why is that i don't even

Judges have a lot of paperwork to keep up with. I'm sure they just throw away all those pesky bans on people who decide to take a trip overseas. Obviously they're never going to come back.

It is amusing how that turned out.

It didn't help that Edmund and Steel have basically had no communication with one another since Steel decided he just didn't need to talk to his Federation partner about the decisions he was making, so suspicious minds start to wonder.

From what I understand, this is the way that Cathay/Kindara expected it to go.

It's not a huge surprise, no. The Arcaean delegation that was sitting in Zonasa for about a week had Edmund pretty sure Regent Steel was jumping into Arcaea's bed in some way.

I'd glady join forces with those fancy pants southerners if it meant looting Dwilight. It'd be shiny, new, and full of lots of fun.

Honestly, the game has, since the implementation of several features over the last year or so (give or take, I can never keep track of time passing in this game), become pretty tedious as far as maintaining everything. It's better now, but it still feels tedious. That and in both realms I play in it seems like 80% of the players say nothing, go about their business, and then just fade into the background.

We certainly don't need new continents or upped player slots, we just need to find a way to reinvigorate things. FEI is stagnant and any conflict is quickly shut down. AT is about the same. So, you have a bunch of new players, being dumped into quiet realms, with no a whole lot to do.

And I'm sure it's not like that in every realm. I'm sure there are some active roleplay realms, realms with huge amounts of messages a day, and the like. It's just not happening everywhere. There's also ways to make the game more fun, even in the quiet places, but if you don't get over the initial hump when joining, a new player may never find that. Which, is probably the core of it all. There's a major slump at the beginning for players if they aren't pulled into something quickly.

I have no clue how to fix that, though, without just trying to get players active in the realm as soon as possible. I try my best with that, but it can only go so far.

Correct me if I am wrong, but BoM wasn't even helping Darka in battle AFAIK. That and if Darka's noble count continues to rise, so will there military capabilities (cs numbers). Darka has gained 16 active characters since January so they now have 76, only 2 less than CE. (The statistics definition of active characters.)

We weren't. Not that there was much time to do it, but for the most part the orders we kept getting were just to refit, travel to a region, refit, travel back. There wasnt much being sad publicly about us marching to help Darka.

Quote
Yes, yes it is. As soon as BoM split, Darka lost the war.

And to be fair, Darka losing the war does not equal everyone on Atamara having no choice but to follow CE. The fact that everyone is currently planning a war only to destroy other realms is what's causing that. The regions south of Heorot lands just seem greedy to run north as far from CE as they can get, but it doesnt solve anyone's problems in doing that. It's not as if CE stops exerting that same influence over them they already have.

Pretty much.

What do you guys do when it's over? Tea parties?

That's really quite a feat though as long as it holds together.
