East Island / Re: [EC] Glacier affected realms issue
« on: March 23, 2014, 05:53:53 PM »
Okay, glad to know that it's been solved.

Replying to Indirik, the amount to pay I meant is what soldiers and paraphernalia required in the "Pay your men" order. I'm aware that the military advisor doesn't take on account the bonuses that are been applied to affected realms, but in this case it was what troops actually demanded. Far too exigent to be refugees fleeing from they frozen homes.

East Island / [EC] Glacier affected realms issue
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:59:58 AM »
Hi all,

I'm not sure if this has been already discussed on the forum, but players in Eponllyn (southern tip of the continent) haven't seen any payment or morale bonus that was supposedly applied to the realms affected by the glacier.

The weekly pay for my unit is a standard 55 gold pieces (they're 50 men), and healers receive 15. Nevertheless my other noble in Dwilight, from Barca, is paying an insignificant amount of gold per week, so these bonuses are working there normally.

Is there any issue with code implementation or anything like that there?

Thanks.

I think what Blue Star complains about is the lack of a "realistic" procedure in a realm's nobility towards a threat. They vote to decide if they leave or not, and the "yes" option means to leave behind land, culture, etc. I'll say what I think about it, comparing it to Europe in Medieval times.

1. Comparing to real world, the colonisation of Dwilight started less than 30 years ago, if I'm right. It was colonised by nobles (players), who formed their realms to rule upon a civil "native" population.

2. That means that, from a real word perspective, nobles pretty much arrived to a continent to stablish their lands and get profit of them. A lot of them couldn't even RP that their families were natives and entered the Nobility, since maybe a player created his first character in another Continent, so his home is out of Dwilight.

Think of the Normans when they took control in England.

3. I'm sure you know that not all nobles in a kingdom or realm have decided to fight 'till death to protect it from a foreign threat when they knew it would be in vain. Even if it was the land of their ancestors. Think of the conquest of the remains of the Byzantine Empire. When Costantinopolis fell, many of them fled to other Christian kingdoms, even being Orthodox. Okay, it was their capital. It leads us to point number 4.

4. They're monsters, dude! Even if nobles in BM has fought against them constantly, realms are overwhelmed! Put a Dwilightean noble's shoes on! You're a highborn who takes profit on the work of native peasants, which are assimilating your culture because it's been imposed by their rulers, in the case of Barca, less than 20 years ago. You will fight hard to keep your lands, but if hordes of howling monsters threaten every corner of your realm, won't you make your valises and try to find a new land?

Ha, indeed! Things are getting wild in western Dwilight... At this moment it wouldn't surprise me to see Thor coming through that dimensional hole at all...

West-Side is cooler than East-Side! Everybody knows!  ;D

Truth is I'd definitely let monsters spawn in the eastern island of Dwilight, where I think there've not been so many intense and catchy conflicts for a long time as far as I know, but that's just my opinion. On the other side, Dwilight's colonisation started there, it has some sense that a re-colonization goes back to the origin in that sense.

Anyway, it'd be really sad for me to see Barca fall under monster pressure. We'll see what happens.

Snowball wars, yaaayyyy!

Yeah, things look bad for Eponllyn with that huge glacier coming, but I wonder how it will affect the regions when the glacier hits them directly. Instant death for peasants and nobles there alike? Progressive emigration of peasants to other regions? An explosively fruitful ice-cream industry that will revolutionize the candy sector in the East Island?

Time will tell...

Hello Chartreuse_King, and welcome to this great game! You'd do great on visiting the wiki, since many of these questions are answered there:

http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/Manual:Getting_Started

Anyway, I'll give my little personal piece of advice.

1. If you mean how to see where you are in every moment, you'll see at the bottom of your character's screen the name of the region you are. Note that in Battlemaster, there're no cities or towns "inside" the regions, but different kind of regions, amongst which some of them are Townsland, Cities and such. You can access a global map of the continent you are at, going to: Information_ Global information_ Dynamic map

2. In order to join any of your realm's army, your Liege has to assign you to it. Thus, the best you can do is writing him/her, swear your fealty, and ask for being assigned. This will take the time he needs to see your message and do it.

3. Rogues are rebels, peasants, rabble... call it as you like. When starvation or lack of control by a realm over a region causes a revolt and there're no troops to keep order, the region will go rogue. It won't belong to any realm until somebody "convinces" the peasants to join the realm back.

4. It really depends on each realm's situation. If you've got already an estate, sometimes it'll be to go to the capital to recruit some more men, or whatever...

5. Roleplaying in Dwilight is great, and it's great to be involved with your realm sharing messages and such. Don't lose patience if your realm mates take some time to reply.

6. Again, the best you can do is having a quick look at the link. The rest you'll learn on time, just enjoy!

Republics suck and archers are for wimps!

LOL, that's what MI is for. Enough range to not smell monsters' breathe, a fierce hand-to-hand looking to silence any accusing comment about one's manhood.

And if you can't choose if you want whether a republic or a monarchy, you can be like D'Hara and have both of them! ;D

I think I'm going to have my character abducting all Asylonian sheep that has ran away from the north, and found a prosperous wool industry in southern Dwilight  :D

Some new art for Barca's background. This time, the emblems of the current armies: Sacred Legion of Maroccia and Wardens of Maroccia. They are based on their colour scheme icons IG.

Hope you like it  :)

By the way, if an island sink, what happens to the nobles and adventurers? Are they redistributed to the other islands in accordance to the family members they've got and where they are? Sorry if I'm asking something that has been already answered.

Thanks!  :)

It's really nice to see Barca playing an important role in Dwilight politics! And cool how it has grown in nobles and land, not sure if I left before you arrived but we were about 13 or 14 by that time, and still had to retake many of our northern regions that had deflected during Aurvandil's last invasion.

Good job with the wiki!
