Most games on the internet are ladderbased ranking systems, people want to know how good there doing in the grand scheme of things.  Not to mention in most games it also gives you a range of people you are allowed to attack and ones you aren't.

Logging in more often for pretty much any ladderbased game means a better position in the game.  However, that being said you can adjust things to make logging in less often not a complete loss.  For War of Empires there is a race, troll?, that gets lots of negatives for its turn production of resources but a large bonus to attack.  So you can easily keep your resource production low so people don't attack you every hour for the mass of resources you've built up and you can attack at night with your attack turns and since you're online you can immediatly spend it all.  You won't do as well as the guy literally losing sleep to check his game, but you can still check out the game, get a good feel for it, and do alright without feeling like your getting pounded for inactivity.  Or at least that was the strategy I used when I checked out the game and I placed alright.

Well if anyone is interested in checking out either War of Empires or The Reincarnation(New Archmage), I'd play a round with you.
What sort of time requirements do they have? I'm not able to log in more then once a day at the moment.

You could do either of them at once a day.  War of Empires makes you produce resources automatically every 20 minutes? so if you wait too long you'll get attacked for them, but you can only attack people based on how many attack turns you've built up so once a day is fine if you don't jack up your income and just get your income from when you do your attacks.  Archmage only has you producing resouces when you spend turns and you attack from that same pool of turns, you can build up to about 300 turns in your pool before you start losing them and depending on the game speed you can get turns anywhere from 1 every 5 minutes to 1 every 15 I believe.

Unfortunately it does seem that way, however, I believe there is a system in the game that prevents older players from attacking people too far below them in the rankings.

I'm reposting this because I don't want it to get lost on the old page:

So I got planetary defenses available on my home planet and my society level is 61, so perhaps it shows at 60?  I also have 7 planets total if that factors in as well.  I have not seen an option to combine fleets into one do we know if this is possible?  Or do we have dissolve two fleets get the full resources back and then build a new fleet at a planet where they are then together?

Those two do exist though often a builder will gather a little or some people might go 50/50.  So a pure builder would just sit in town and spend his AP on building buildings or converting useless materials into useful materials.  The pure searcher will spend all their AP going outside hitting up a bunch of regions to search and then making their way home on a different path so they can search all those spots as well because you can only search each square once a day unless you use auto search.  Most builders won't just spend all AP constructing they'll move outside of town one square and search then let their character auto search for a number of hours and move back into town then spend the rest of their AP constructing.  So on a normal day you get 6 AP when you wake, if you drink water 6 AP more, and if you eat another 6 AP and that is fairly normal to get 18 AP but easily 12 at least so a builder to spend 2 AP moving just outside of town to perhaps find 3 or more items is fairly worth it.  A builder with more scavenging in mind after a couple days see that the zones immediately around the town are depleted so you'll mostly find junkie items might spend a couple more AP moving further out of town to auto scavenge zones that aren't depleted yet.

I've read the first three books but got tired of waiting sooo long between books that I occupied myself with other crap and haven't read book 4 or 5.  Now that I'm paying attention again I get to read two books back to back :)  Which is good because if I remember correctly he meant to write that as one book but cut it into two because it got so big so yea for me.  I watched the first like 5 episodes and it is pretty sweet so far and some of the actor choices were pretty awesome like the dwarf and joffrey, but some were were crap choices like the guy playing jon snow was a terrible god awful choice.

The arc gets used up when you colonize because they need to build the colony, but does it get used up when you just use it to transport people?  I'm guessing yes, it just sucks thats all.

Thank you Tom, I am so putting all of my next turns income into scouts :)

So do we have any idea what a good invading force to take over a planet is yet?  How about for a new players capital?  There is a guy next to me who started a couple days ago but hasn't built any ships that I can see so I thought about going for his capital.  Also we do we know if you attack and win do you take the planet or do you also need an arc?  I am sending 1 battleship, 1 cruiser, and 2 blackbirds.

I agree you guys are taking away from the fun factor.  You both are going for strategies the other doesn't agree with we get it.  Both sides of the conversation have their pros and cons.  Now leave it behind.

Wow that is a number of towns to be in within a week.  We are on our first town still on day 7 at the moment.  Though zombies have risen to the 240-340 range and we only have about 240 defences so not looking great for tonight especially since most of our effort has been in getting a 35 point defense structure that still isn't finished yet.
