Helpline / Commoner Questions
« on: May 03, 2019, 04:49:51 PM »
My noble has been declared a commoner because I am antagonistic towards a popular noble.  The rest of the realm is going along with it.   No way would the nobility accept such a thing.  At what point does game mechanics trump role playing and what recourse do I have?

That would open up a glaringly obvious loophole: want to found a new realm? Still on good terms with your government? That's OK, have them ban you anyway!

That's a small price to pay to retain Ducal Power.  Dukes have always had that power.  Taking the power away to allow them to secede is a HUGE power shift.  I understand why you are making the changes, but this changes a very large dynamic to the game.   Being able to secede as Duke is what kept the balance.  If they banned you, good chance you were taking your Duchy with you.

As for having your realm ban you to allow you to secede and form a new realm...   then deal with it on a case by case basis.  If it happens like that people will make a Titan report and it can be dealt with.    What's to stop people from loading a Duchy with nobles and have them trickle back to the main realm after the secession?  Your current rule leaves a loophole too.  How to fix that? Make it against the rules...  the same way to fix the problem with friendly banishments, with a rule.

Maybe this is all too much work and not worth it.  I understand there are limited resources, but removing so much power from a Duke will.change the dynamic of the game.

There should be an exemption.  If a Duke is banned they should have the opportunity to secede no matter what.

As for the 15 nobles I think 10 might have been a fairer number.  Astrum was founded by 5 or 6 nobles trecking through winter and fighting the hordes to make it to Libidized.

Questions & Answers / Re: Against the rules?

So you're saying that not only is it against the rules for temporary lordships it's against the rules to have a Mercenary group?

Questions & Answers / Against the rules?
« on: February 17, 2019, 03:05:53 PM »
I started a Mercenary Guild.  We move to each realm when we take a contract there.   Contracts are a minimum 3 months extendable to 5 months total.  One of our payments is a lordship in order to build and expand our guildhouse network.

Is it against the rules to take a lordship I know I am going to abandon in 3-5 months when I go to the next mercenary contract?

As a character she was offended.  Who wouldn't be?  Me personally I got a good laugh out of it.

Gotta talk smack to those daimon worshiping heretics yo. Now she's no where to be seen but her minions snowballed pretty quickly.

Didn't you guys get the reports of casting when she teleported out?

Bah luck seems to have left Ar Agyr, the 15k CS stacks are a bit much for a 9 person realm to handle. We had a nice little time going for a while with holding the regions around the capital.

You've stopped like two take overs so far against Aletha's Ravens.  She tried to leave once but your Duke started talking smack.

Roleplaying / Opening a Portal in Croton
« on: February 25, 2016, 04:48:51 AM »
Aletha prepared herself for the ritual. She snuck into Croton with just herself and her servant.  She left her swordsman behind in Muspel to act as militia.

Having a portal used against her realm to summon werewolves made her search for answers and she had found them in the Volume of the Lost Island.  Some of the texts were indecipherable as the book was slightly damaged.  Other information was gleaned from her families libraries and some from her Aunt Allison's personal journals.

She took a ceremonial dagger and sliced her wrist.  Draining her blood into a large mortar.  2 crushed portal stones were added to the mortar and ground up.  Then she added 8 quartz and crushed those.  8 rubies, 8 moonstone, 8 cracked sapphires and 8 topaz followed.  8 small diamonds and 8 other portal stones she set off to the side. She lit 8 incense.  When the other gems and portal stones and blood were ground into a paste she stripped down and covered herself in the paste.  She glittered in the candle light.

She stuck her sword in the ground and propped the Shouting Shield against the sword making an ad hoc lectern on which she sat the book, Volume of the Lost Island, onto it so she could read from the proper pages.

With her standing in the middle 8 portal stones were set up around her one at a time as she read from the book.  As each stone was set down a small diamond was set on top of it.  As the final stones were being placed she knelt behind her makeshift lectern and took a deep breath and shouted as loud as she could through her Shouting Shield   "HAKTOO, HAKTOO, HAKTOO"  her shouts echoed much further than her voice should have been able to carry thanks to the shield.

This was a risky gamble, but desperate times called for desperate measures.

BM General Discussion / Militia Sucks

Militia is ruining this game!  Just my personal opinion.  I believe it should be nerfed.  Cost more gold for upkeep and eating more food would be a good start if we aren't going to place some limitations on them.

Dwilight / Re: Which interesting realms to join in Dwilight?

Arnor and Swordfell were already allied, and Morek and Arnor were already allied. It was already headed in that direction and would have gone that way with or without my !@#$ing help. Don't be so !@#$ing dense. I'm on IRC if you want to talk about it.

Swordfell was allied to HD as well until you wrecked that.   In fact Swordfell hated Morek.  There was a lot of animosity there until the two rulers actually started chatting and worked out their differences.

Hey, guess what. Now there is only one interesting realm to join, because the rest are involved in gigantic !@#$ing alliance chains with no possibility for proper conflict. Join Westgard, and only Westgard. The rest of the island is becoming !@#$ing Atamara.

Ugh... the rulers of this island had better get their !@#$ together before Dwilight is sunk.

You do realize that the alliance between Arnor, Morek and Swordfell is your fault right?  your political blundering made those 3 realms join together in a war and got their rulers to start talking to one another.  Had you done your war declaration differently the war in the north would have ended up much differently and the Morek/Arnor/Swordfell alliance would never have happened.

between Kuriga and Glaumring I've seen each capable of much craftiness and neither should be underestimated.  My post was trying to convey my nervousness.   I expected the new realm in Untertrom to be founded much sooner than it was and that they would support HD.    Winter really slowed things down.  Your ruler should be able to get out of jail and reinvigorate the cease fire talks before you lose anymore regions.
