Dwilight / Re: Mendicant Cheating
« on: March 26, 2013, 12:14:22 PM »
May we have an official statement by a GM informed on the facts about how deep and influencial was the Mendicant multicheating thing? Was it done all by one person who proceed to roleplay interactions between many of his multy? Or there were more people involved in a web of multies?
Is there a way to tell roughly how much gold did he obtained in such a way?

I'm asking this because I'm a recently new Aurvandil player (joined around december or something like that) and hearing that "Having the Zume raze Aurvandil would be a good compensation" trouble me as a legit player.

Knowing how much of the Ourvandoux strenght depended on cheated resource would probably help us left to rebuild the realm and maybe would help stopping the exaggerations (if there are any) going on about such matter

Still, I think that a main army avoiding another until they can get an advantage is more interesting than just recrtuit up and hope we'll have more cs than them. Battlemaster has a very limited strategical aspect and from what I'm hearing here, Perdan and Sirion are playing it.

I'm considering starting a character there...

I have no character on EC for now, but I find wars with lots of maneuvers way more interesting than simplier "let's faceroll the enemy till one of us ends up without troops"

The main issue here is how peasants are coded to react to wars: as others pointed out, it doesn't suit a SMA that they protest war declaration from realm they barely have heard before, they should react to battles won and lost, regions taken and more than anything looting.

It should be perfectly fine to realm far away to put pression by declaring war, but if this automatically led to peasants protest then we have a problem

Aka, LN doesn't give a !@#$, they are only in this war for Fissoa...

Why should LN give a !@#$ about Aurvandil? It keeps its D'Haran neighboroughs distracted while being too far to be a threat. I see more reasons for them to be Ourvandoux friends than enemies, even if probably the most suited diplomatic position is ignore them

Main issue is that as it's put in the op, there are pretty much no reasons to any realm to join it: in order to protect every realm sovereignity Coria seems to be asking them to first renounce it by subsideing to the Corian rule

So what's going on in the EC?

The whole "honourable noble" thing where almost every character is a knight in a shiny armor who  always put his honour in front of everything is much more a modern era idealization rather than an actual medieval representation.

In bm people tend to forget that for the most part, knights was just a little more than bandits with horses and steel.

The Aurvandil's "Noblesse Oblige" doesn't seem less historical accurate than the usual way noble characters are played in bm so unless you want to fully reform the way the game is played I don't think it could be considered a SMA violation

Can I use the description of battlemaster you made there to post it in another forum?

Keep in mind that aurvandil got crippled quite a bit by the whole world declaring war on them thing, that surely prevented a full unleash of Aurvandil power

iirc I played when in EC the average nobles per realm was something around 120, with Perdan touching even 160 or something.

There were way more non game-mechanic related RP but overall the game felt way slower compared to BT where there were many more small realms

The Minas Civil war won't see many more battles than the assaults on York: unless something changes the Ithilians don't seem able to afford a field army. There are still lots of possible players around there like Rieleston and the Barony, so everything is still uncertain

Eston seem the realm with the capitol closer to the battlefields right now, but also CE, Talerium and Darka are really close

What does it happen there?

Naw, thats propaganda. They did acquire a TON of new nobles though.
actually as far as I know, Minas Leon got only 2 newbies, one of those hadn't be so active and the other being me. We also gain a couple of just restarted players, but mostly we are ex-ithilians
