As for other successful resurrections, I'm told that Thalmarkin was in significant part a refounding of Ar Agyr. Surely there's been a few in Dwilight?

When AA fell it's nobles split into two factions, one joining Old Grehk and one Melhed. AA's lands were then divided, Old Grehk took Vore, Jedinchel and Vatrona and Melhed worked their way up to Lin Helon. OG's AA exiles then joined with Riombaran and OG nobles to found Thalmarkin in Nuzanki and Sandefur and Melhed's AA exiles founded Valentia in Unger.
Valentia interestingly was the first and only realm ever to seize to exist because of the Duke of it's single duchy (which was also their king) changed allegiance to Melhed when they saw the Old Grehkian army nearing.
They seceded at the start of the first invasion and were then crushed by daimons or undead or whatever roamed those lands back then. So you can add Valentia to the list of refounded realms as well, even if one is more successful than the other.

How about you add more options? Like Very low risk and very high risk? That would allow low-skill infils to enjoy the class they've chosen already, get a little preview and training and allow very skilled infils to risk it all in order to do major damage to a region, or a noble.

On banning, I completely agree that it's a bit ridiculous that you can be banned for burning down a granary yourself but not if you order your men to do it. Who *really* cares about one granary anyway? In the greater scheme of things, it's not worth a ban I think.

I tried to get melhed to war once. Ended up making the whole trip south with 48 well-trained men of their awesome level 5 ranged SF (65 90/60, good in melee too) to join Riombara and kick some Enweilian ass. :)
Oh, and receiving a 1500 bonds farewell present from my liege, bonds because by the time I got it I was already in Grehk and didn't return. Still, nice guy...

Practically singlehandedly destroying a secession against my char's father from the inside (up to providing a casus belli and everything) and then getting appointed duke of their capital city once it was conquered.

I had big plans with that char but got a teeny bit derailed losing everything he had in a stupid war... Still, good times. :)

Yeah, I've thought about that... :p I guess it would kinda suck, being the duke and all, but on the other hand: epic start of the invasion :P

Haha. I think there's nobody in Thalmarkin eager to be in Pyrix' shoes. Except for Seko Sepi, of course; painfully obvious.

Haha, indeed. :)
Anyway, I'm working on a solution that will hopefully see the light of day soon... :)

Oh and yes Artemesia (though dunno about Immanuel), but also the only realm that survived the invasion without capitulating or allying with sorcerers or beasts, victory (or well, survival) purely by merit of steel and mind. Anyway, to explain: we're a pretty open realm and it's not that hard to gain a position if you want it, though all that openness has resulted in kind of a shortage of positions at the moment... :p

BM General Discussion / Re: Sharing lords gold, whats up with that?

Stupid Fleugs, don't say it out loud. People can NOT ignore OOC when deciding IC decisions. Its a fact. My past proves that.

But in general I agree.

Isn't this why OOC bans were implemented?  *itchy finger* ;)

Beluaterra > everything else.

Nowhere else can you find such dynamics, such feuds, such excitement. Make one mistake and your Kingdom may crumble right before your eyes.
And if you manage to survive the invasion, there'll always be some realms who will hold you accountable for what you did to survive. Conflict guaranteed!

Well, when I came to Thalmarkin as a refugee of Old Grehk with 8 of my knights, I immediately asked to be added to the extended council as representative. I was added and was part of all essential discussions from that moment on. Our arrival saw Thalmarkin's military might bumped from 7k to 13k deployable CS after a recruitment campaign.
I stayed in Thalmarkin as did most of my knights, I became Duke of a stronghold, then the capital and one of my knights was elected ruler for a short while during the invasion.

Now again I'm in Thalmarkin on the receiving end of refugees and the situation is a little more complicated as their "leader" (member of a respected family by all refugees) is the general who lead us through half of the invasion.

But my opinion remains the same: involve them in realm matters, give them opportunities to rise in the realm's ranks and above all: find a common enemy.
That's what we're lacking right now and which we did have when I was the refugee. In fact during the first week in Thalmarkin we raided Ossmat, the capital of Old Grehk which my character "rebelled" against.

So Tom takes pride in bringing us hours of fun by creating an awesome invasion that was in my opinion very enjoyable and one of the best there has been if not the best. I don't see anything arrogant or wrong about that.
Personally, I've actively played in all invasions and I find it difficult to decide which was the best one: the first or the fourth. The first had vampire lords and giant frogs roaming around and the fourth had a real story and had those of us involved sitting at the edge of our seat during the entire thing, struggling to cling on to life. At least that was my experience, playing in Thalmarkin and Riombara (both realms that stood on the brink of destruction for a long time because they refused to ally with the invaders).

I don't care if the NPCs tricked anyone, I mean... imagine yourself as your character: giant beasts and walking corpses suddenly appear and start rampaging across human lands, would you believe what they have to say? I know that I, as a human being, would at least be a little wary of them..
Of course the invaders try to trick you and don't want mankind to be victorious, it's what they're there for and I think that was even pretty obvious judging from their actions - not their words.
You've imagined being your character, now imagine being Tom and seeing how even when facing terrible odds - which you designed - humans still remain true to their nature, even in a game. I think it's a pretty normal reaction of him - or anyone who has the same information he has - and not arrogant at all.

In short: they can only trick the player if you're playing from the player's perspective. So hide behind your character and you're safe.
