Dunno, I've seen some breeds of dogs large enough to eat me if they went mad.

The problem is monsters are mad. And large enough.

Honestly, all Elder ranks would make sense.  Because I can't imagine Bishop Bob or Paladin Primus Pete wouldn't include the title in their massive sigs.

Indeed. This seems quite nice, improving the RP atmosphere.

Malus Solari was one. I seem to recall at least one or two Luria Nova rulers being priests of SA. Then there's the dukes and other government members, over time. That today none of the rulers is SA doesn't mean that historically, SA faithful had quite a few positions with pull in the Lurias.

Luria Vesperi had a total of 0 Astroist rulers, dukes and lords.
Luria Nova idem.
Solaria had 1 Astroist ruler and 2 dukes (one of them the aforementioned ruler, the other ruling over the useless, cashless and foodless Divides).
Pian en Luries had 1 Astroist ruler, 0 dukes and 1 lord. And only when they were 1-region-large.

No, the 'moot is several times closer to SA than the Lurias are. Before Solaria there was never an Astroist temple in the Lurias.

Let's get this straight, however: Aurvandil attacked and declared war on the 'moot. Aurvandil initiated the hostilities. Regardless of possibilities for peace or not, an attack on a member state is an attack on all member states, and our Treaty quite simply and publicly states so.

"We did attack you, but if you had not defended yourselves we might have achieved peace..." ::)
In other words: resistance is futile!

Anyone who thinks we're active to the point of suspicion sees what they want to see, and ignores the reality in front of them. Aurvandil is regularly dogged by inactive and over extended movements.

Well, no offense but you did repeatedly deny Aurvandil being the new home of the Saxons. And now we have Averoth 2.0 in Madina. That sort of surprised me.

Actually, this was a thread about the Maroccidental war.

So... how 'bout Paisly?

I guess both sides now are racing for their refits?

Sorry, but this is about the Marrocidenian war. Please stay on topic.

When you get to 3 years old you are fully independent, and can make your own food.

If you tried the game and didn't like it please give the account for someone else, so they don't have to wait months to join the game.

A quote comes to mind:

"Rule 1, on page 1 of the book of war, is: 'Do not march on Moscow' " - Viscount Montgomery Of Alamein

That's rule 2:

"(Rule 2) is: 'Do not go fighting with your land armies in China."

Just stay away from Moscow and China and surrounding Asian nations. Just go conquer the Levant, like literally everyone in history has done.

The mongols would disagree.

No, don't think so. There are plenty of names for landmasses, in where players where, but very little for bodies of water.

My idea would be to name the sea coasts making references to/honoring some historical realms that where there.
To explain a little better:
Aquilegia is a flower known for its spurred petals. Hence the Spurred Coast in where the Aquilegian theocracy was (in Flowrestown).
In where the Sea of Silence is we curiously had Melodia before. I think the bird in their banner is a nightingale, but could be wrong. So: Nightingale Sea.
Gelene was known as the Emerald of the North for the Everguardians. So: Channel of Gelene = Emerald Channel. This also works with Nifelheim being known as the Jewel of the North by the Summerdalians.
The Gold Coast is repeating a color-naming pattern that is, to be honest, a little overused. While it makes sense for it includes Golden Farrow I'd change it to Griffin Coast, the symbol of the now deceased Caerwyn, which first settled it.
The Northern Passage to Storms Passage is only natural, since it borders the Storms End and the Storms Keep, though it could also work as the Summer Passage in combination to the Spring Passage (Springdale, Summerdale).
And while the Spring Coast makes sense the area is known as the Dalian Expanse, and its inhabitants the Dalians. When Summerdale fell and many of its nobles fled to Luria Nova they brought south their culture, and they are still known as "Dalians". Hence Dalian Coast.

To change any names now, I'd like to have a reason. :-)

I guess Perth summed it up quite nicely. The links are all to explain the names and reasons. If in doubt with any of them, please ask.

Seeker's Coast - Where morekians landed to establish morek :) shortened form of land seeker's coast or pioneer's coast.

Just like the Spring, White and Pirate Coasts? I'd prefer a different name, like the Order's Coast (in reference to old Morek Order), or even Star Coast.

boiling sea should have been located where cape of night is actually. was thinking lava would meet the sea there :o

Could work as the Wild Coast then, as together with the Kraken Coast these two have been the last ones to be settled. Or maybe another reference to that. Boiling Sea makes no sense right now.

shattered shores - there just happen to be a lot of islands.

Ok... I kinda like the name, though the reasons seems a little bit strange.

Also, I am pretty sure Tom wants to avoid using names related to realms.

Wasn't it still standing realms?

Some name ideas in Dwilight:

Forgotten Coast to Spur(red) Coast (Because of Aquilegia).
Sea of Silence to Nightingale Sea
Channel of Gelene to Emerald Channel.
Gold Coast to Griffin Coast.
The Ravielan Sea could become the Sea of Silence, given no boat ever navigated it (before making the sea zones of course). References to whirlpools and other phenomena to cause hardships in navigation, explaining why boats did not cross it, would also work.
The Northern Passage could also be the Storms Passage. Or the Summer Passage.
The Spring Coast could become the Dalian Coast.

What's the idea behind Seeker's Coast, Black Coast, Blue Coast, Shattered Shores, Blossomer Sea, Cobalt Gulf and Boiling Sea, btw?

Dwilight / Re: Luria

I'm inclined to believe that the same will happen with the Lurias. The splitting up into multiple realms will, imo, contribute to putting an end to the power struggles that defined the Lurias to this day.

Not meaning to offend, but I don't think you know what you are talking about in here. The splitting into multiple realms has little to do with diminishing the power struggles, at least in the Lurias. Nor there is lack of them, to be quite honest. You'd knew that if you were in any of the three realms.

All power struggles are doomed to come to a conclusion. Luria is already on its way towards stabilization.

I'd say it is more like a wave function, ranging from stability to chaos. And believe me, in the Lurias it changes quite fast from one to the other. To think about a stable Luria in the near future is truly laughable for anyone that knows half about what is going on.

Tom, you commented on the problems of giving a penalty to the disembarking force, and how it would be harder for the attackers than no battle at all, but perhaps a "forced landing" option might be interesting, fighting at a disadvantage if in fewer numbers (maybe add some randomness to it, and a small chance of success). I say it because that might be a better idea for some than to be forced to stay starving in the sea with no further horizon of hope.

I think so. But it still doesn't answer the question of, "How will they not be totally invincible?"

Have you seen the embarking costs? The D'Haran refits will probably be expensive ones, and as they have to deal with rogues in a daily basis I suspect unless the costs change the realm will be hard to maintain in its current shape...
