Beluaterra / Empire of the Shattered Vales
« on: March 09, 2016, 12:06:37 AM »
The Ivory Empire has fallen, crushed under tooth and claw by fell hordes the likes of which mankind had never seen. It's few daring survivors, veterans of a war that literally consumed their homes and people, have banded together under the Third Empress behind the walls of the great stronghold of Ete City, heart of the Jadevale and Last Bastion of the Empire.

This is their thread.

Roleplaying / The Ivory Court of Fheuvenem

Selenia stood outside of her Pavillion facing the freshly scarred battlements of Iato. Capital of the 'Ebony Vale.' A chuckle escaped against her will at the thought, mostly because she actually liked  the bloody name, if not the circumstance under which it came about...

A cough from behind, her majordomo, warned her that Lady Sandlakes was had arrived. It gave Selenia much needed time to smoother her mirth and don her serious face, her imperial face. The Empress listened as the Lady's footsteps approached, old senses reaching out and wrapping about the on-comer as she stopped and curtsied.

Without turning, or even taken her eyes from Iato, the Empress held out her hand to the side where her majordomo produced the green-velvet cushion upon which laid the heavy gold Tribune's Chain and Seal of Office. He placed it in the Empress's hands and bowed away as to remain unobtrusive.

"This-" the Empress began, "-is heavy for a reason, you know. I had it crafted that way for a reason, to remind its wearer of the burden of the wealth and power that come with the position." If Lady Sandlakes was surprised by her Empress dropping the Imperial 'We' in favor of something more intimate, she did not show it. The Empress carried on.

"I am trying to build a true empire here, Lady Dragul. One built on tradition, laws, with its bricks mortared by ambition and painted with grandeur. And who ever heard of a single-city 'Empire'?" She finished half-mockingly, staring almost accusingly at Iato. "As Tribune, you will not only serve as the banker for my Empire, which is important enough in and of itself. You will also be the key representative and Speaker for the Imperial Senate. You will poll the morale and opinions of the realm and advise me of them, you will represent the concerns of the lessor lords and nobles, whispering into my ear, and you will advise me on how to deal with issues both at home and abroad. With this Seal-" She held out the heavy chain and dropped the Seal from her palm, letting catch the first rays of the morning sun as it dangled, swaying in the breeze. "-With this Seal, you will be the third most powerful person in my government after myself and my Praetor, whom I will name my heir. It is a great deal of responsibility, and future generations will rely on the precedent you set..."

Selenia finally broke eye-contact with Iato to look over her shoulder at KatalynFae, a sly smile creeping onto her weathered, but youthful face as her body turned also to extend the Seal of the Tribune to the young ambassador.

"Last chance to turn and run?"

Many things are changing in the Vale, many things will change. I wanted to make myself available for any OOC discussions or explanations.

Helpline / Guild Issue
« on: January 18, 2015, 09:53:00 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am having a bit of trouble. one of my characters founded a guild, but I later had to pause that account for a couple days. When I unpaused, I rejoined as the lowest rank but was unable to reaffirm my position as founder. The option appeared, but every time I clicked to reaffirm, I was redirected back to the guild description page.

I would have filed a bug report, but I can't login to the bugtracker at all (I never get the 'confirmation email' for creating new accounts) and could really use the help.

Any assistance or advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I am starting this thread so that new and returning players may keep abreast of what's going on. When I started, I entered in the middle of a conversation and felt a bit inundated. Here, we can post list for political candidates and so on, at least until everyone get's their bearings and the government is set up. Thereafter, who knows?

Feature Requests / New Buildings
« on: March 12, 2014, 03:46:40 PM »
It occurs to me that as the Lords and Masters of all we survey, we should be able to construct buildings that improve the standard of living for our devoted peasantry: Theaters to decrease the rate of losing morale, Mill's to decrease total grain consumption, waterwheel's in riverland regions or mines in Mountainous regions to increase production and/or gold with less peasantry. Churches should have apothecaries that increase birth rates.

And with food seemingly more of a problem than ever before, lets start fishing with Harbors!

Just some food for thought from a hopeful fan of the game!

A discussion about how realms collectively view other realms, their rulers, and their recent decisions/outbursts

Quote
Also, explained as to a five year old:
(Luria, Fissoa and D'Hara are playing together. Aurvandil is a spoiled kid who somehow always gets better gear from his parents)
(Luria): Hey Fissoa. I like you, but I don't like D'Hara. Want to be best friends? You can't be friends with D'Hara anymore, though.
(Fissoa): But I don't want you two to fight! Sure, I'll be best friends if you want to, but I want a say in what games we play, and if you go pick on D'Hara I won't help!
(Luria): I can understand. Sorry, but we can't be best friends anymore.

(Fissoa): Hey D'Hara, Luria asked me to be best friends! I'm sorry, but I Luria has cooler toys. I asked her not to pick on you, though!
(D'Hara): That's too bad, I wanted to be best friends too! But yes, Luria has way cooler toys than us. So I can understand .. I guess.

(Luria): Fissoa, I know I didn't want to be best friends after all, but could you please just stand and watch while I bully D'Hara?
(...)
(Luria): OMG! You talked to D'Hara behind my back? But I thought we were best friends! I'll never play with you again!
(...)
(Luria): So I've been sulking for a while now, and actually I'm really angry! You better believe it! I want to fight [TO THE DEATH!] - you hurt my feelings real bad!!1!
(Fissoa): Eh. Wut?
(D'Hara): Eh. Wut?

(Fissoa): So, D'Hara, Luria wants to fight me. I think she's just being silly, but we won't be able to play with her toys if I don't give her what she wants.
(D'Hara): I don't understand either. Maybe you shouldn't fight her.
(Fissoa): Meh, I better just take her on.

(Fissoa): Hey Luria. I'll fight if you want to. I would like to say goodbye to my parents though, and tell my friends I might not be coming back. And I need to tell my brothers and sisters who's getting my toys.
(Luria): Okay, we'll fight at my place. Just hurry, I want to go kick D'Haran ass.
(Fissoa): But I wanted to fight at my place! Doesn't the challenged get to pick? Well, okay ... I'm on my way.

(D'Hara and others): Hey Fissoa, we want to come say goodbye before you go fight Luria. Can we stop by?
(Fissoa): [Teary eyes] Sure! I'll wait at the corner.

(Aurvandil): Hahaa! I'll burn Fissoa's house down whilst he is away!

(Fissoa): Oh !@#$. Better call 911 and wait for D'Hara some more.
(Luria): Omg! You broke your promise! You said you'd teleport to my house! You're such a bad friend (sic)!

(Fissoa): ... What the !@#$ did I get into.

Feel free to reply in a similar format from Lurian/D'Haran point of view. Maybe we need a new thread, though
