Feature Requests / Re: Allow Judges to post bounties in realm regions.
« on: February 13, 2013, 11:01:29 PM »
From a singular point of view, I think since the judge is the representative of the realms justice that he/she should be allowed to post bounties in regions of said realm at attract adventurers to prevent large monster and undead incursions. While region lords also hold this ability like holding court, why not allow a realm judge the same ability to post bounties while it does offer significant change it also does not apply significant downfall.

Feature Requests / Allow Judges to post bounties in realm regions.

Title: Allow Judges to post bounties in realm regions.

Summary: give judges the option to post bounties for monsters and undead in regions within the realm other than their own.

Details: Simple, give judges the option in command to post undead and monster bounties for adventurers to partake of.

Benefits:
- Allows judges not only to Hold Court, but to also use personal funding to post bounties.
- Allows Lords a degree of saving gold, as well as knowing a Judge can both hold court and post bounties in their absence.

Possible Exploits:
- None come to mind.

Feature Requests / Army War Chest Options
« on: January 16, 2013, 02:19:32 PM »
Title: Army War Chest Options

Summary: Options for sponsors to allow the war chest distribution to be adjusted accordingly.

Details:
As it currently sits the war chest covers training, repairs, and sea travel by 50%. I propose to include options to include wages and perhaps even recruitment wages beyond that to also include the percentages therein. for example.

Sponsor - Duke Morguth:

Wages: 50%
Training: 50%
Repairs: 50%
Travel: 0%

Duke Morguth decides he doesn't feel like paying so much for the army, so he makes changes.

Wages: 25%
Training: 25%
Repairs: 25%
Travel: 0%

Benefits: More financial power to the sponsor i.e. good sponsor = greatly funded army. Due to options to spread funding to various expenditures armies would have the ability to field longer (though usually this is considered a bad thing) Also allows and encourages sponsors to be generally wealthy.

Possible Exploits: Only that a small army could be better funded than a large army and have a significant advantage.

Magistrates Case Archive / Re: Kabrinskia Realm Merger
« on: November 13, 2012, 04:26:24 AM »
What is the definition of realm merger other than:

1. All nobles of realm A join realm B.
2. All regions of realm A join realm B.
3. Aside from government positions, all nobles from realm A retain all of their titles.

Using this argument, only "friendly realm mergers" are unallowed the realm council stupidly chose to ban the last Duke/Duchess of their realm and instead of the Duke/Duchess taking it lying down she chose to take her duchy with her. None of those falls under "friendly" terms, apparently it was done in protest to her ban and in spite of the judge and King that banned her, nothing about this says "friendly".

If the King and Judge didn't want this to happen .. then they shouldn't have attempted to ban a Duchess/Duke they hold considerable power, it's why they hold power to appoint Regional Lords.

  • Should this have been able to happen? No.
  • Should it have been announced in some form, in game until the issue was addressed? Yes.
  • Was it? No.

Lets note that none of the three above are fault of the accused.

In Closing was there a merger? Yes, a merger of one duchy moving into another realm. However this was done on unfriendly terms and not in violation of the official rules of "No FRIENDLY mergers" However technically by game mechanics should not have been possible. But we aren't arguing the semantics of game mechanics rather than if the accused party is guilty of violating a rule of the game. There was a civil internal strife in her previous kingdom that attempted to ban her in which turn she'd lose her Ducal seat, position as Margravine and instead of losing it all preferred to simply move her duchy away.

So If I was to make an opinion based on this, I'd say she isn't guilty however the dev. team should work on factors to prevent this from happening in the future.

How long did it actually take you?

1-2 months definitely less than 3, fairly fast in the wide scope of things by selling and repairing unique items and that was delayed due to a noble not knowing how to give a recommendation.

So...the main part of your argument is invalid because this is not a commoner becoming a noble. This is a noble being rejected from the family, then after the recommendations the family is recognizing them as family, reinstating them into their noble lives.

To be re-instated they'd have to have been considered nobility in the first place, or even accepted as a member of bloodline which in most cases these were bastard children or children of denounced lines in which case is being a commoner. You were denied in name, and continued to be until you were of both use  and proven to be of a bloodline even today there are common people who if were to research their ancestral lines could petition for recognition of a noble line. The Tudor line it self produced so many bastards it's predicted some still exist though the royal line is considered dead.

Adventurers are considered to fall into this category, and yet they are still commoners, a commoner with possible claim but commoner nonetheless.

As for me, I went from advie to noble very quickly, it seemed far too easy.

In tournaments of combat from modern times even as far back as ancient Greece competitors of great skill would often do absolutely nothing for exception of stretching out of fear of being ''measured up'' or studied. Going into a duel knowing whether or not a man can parry or riposte makes a huge difference on how you'll encounter him initially. While some competitors show off to intimidate or impress women, so in closing I like the system as is.

I look at it from the explained process, nobles are to commoners as commoners are to donkeys. They are tools and barely considered people and for one of those to become a noble from non-royal recommendations. Even in modern interpretations you can get a dozen recommendations yet still not get the job you want or admittance to a school or organization because in the end it's only a recommendation to be shown to another for interpretation or acceptance.

Even considering the lowest of recommendations say a advie gets three recommendations from mere knights with borderline honor and prestige while noble it would be far more impressive to see an advie with three to five recommendations from mostly Lords and Dukes then reaches a King to be considered or spit upon and laughed about in court.

Not to mention I think a King should have a say in the process of a common born being elevated to peerage in his/her realm. Rather than pleasing three knights and suddenly popping up on a radar as a noble equal all of a sudden, it makes the claim sound questionable in any respect of medieval peerage. However for the Throne to emerge and beset a claim of nobility over a man/women is far more legitimate and unquestionable to the nobility of a Realm and could even be interpreted as being ''Knighted''.

Feature Requests / Adventurer elevaton to Nobility adjustment
« on: October 27, 2012, 07:00:42 PM »
Title: Adventurer elevaton to Nobility adjustment

Summary: Increase difficulty of adventurer of becoming noble requiring 3 recommendations then King's (of his/her realm's) approval.

Details:
  • Adventurer gains three recommendations.
  • Adventurer gets option to petition King having his recommendations allowing King to see who signed and decide to elevation or deny until he/she so wishes
  • If King denies him he can leave the realm or brown nose more, who cares he's just a commoner.

Benefits:

  • Ensures King controls commoner to nobility appointments as stated in BM wiki -
    Quote
Blood is everything. The idea of 'elevating' a mere commoner to a noble was disgusting to many, and this was an extremely rare act, reserved for people who had done tremendous service to the Crown.
  • Creates a tiered system requiring a commoner to impress both Lords and King to gain ''elevation''
  • Prevents or inhibits OOC fast tracking of commoners.
  • Influences correct nobility to commoner interactions.

Possible Exploits: None come to mind

Feature Requests / Re: Changing Reverted Bonds
« on: October 02, 2012, 07:26:59 AM »
I basically brought this up because 3 knights in my region went inactive and all bonds go to the King and I was thinking well.. that doesn't seem right they served in my region for the past six month and pledged oaths of loyalty directly to he/she who offered them the estate (me.)

Only issue I see with this is disagreement with relocation of reverted bonds or coding difficulties.

Feature Requests / Changing Reverted Bonds
« on: October 01, 2012, 09:37:03 AM »
Title: Changing Reverted Bonds

Summary: Currently as the system is paused characters from auto paused, cold pause or vacation pause have their bonds reverted to the King. Their bonds should be reverted to direct liege. After all, all gold they earned within said estate was earned under the allowance of their direct liege.

Details: Change the code to send bonds to the Direct Liege instead of the King
  • Inactive/Paused Knight's bonds --> Regional Lord
  • Inactive/Paused Regional Lord --> Duke
  • Inactive/Paused Duke --> King
  • Inactive/Paused King --> Equally to Realm Dukes

Benefits: Benefits that Regional Lords hom have had long standing knights who suddenly go inactive are given the fruits of their knight's labor rather than to the King. As bonds are sent to regional lords rather than to King are likely to be used in the regional expediently than held by King or sent to family.

Possible Exploits: None come to mind

Dwilight / Re: There are rich pirates in D'Hara

I still think it's crap. Low odds of happening does not compensate for the fact that there is no way to reduce the risk.

The low odds are the reduction in risk it self, would you rather have the risk of being robbed everytime you travel as a priest however hiring guards would make the success rate of successfully being robbed at 5% or just have a 5% chance of ever being robbed. The risk is still the same regardless your argument is illogical respectively.

Looking at it as an equation to hire guards you'd have to increase chances of a robbery occurring, in order to balance out the present equation which would take coding time and a perk that really changes nothing. It's best to let your argument die and leave this alone.

Wiki / Re: Battlemaster Wiki Team Proposal
« on: August 04, 2012, 06:53:58 PM »
Address the first issue,

the idea of IG compensation would be justified because they are actively contributing to the current and new player base by updating information on a constant basis. You've seen the wiki is that something you really want to tackle for free and if it is how motivated are you to really go out and do it all? The fact it's still unfinished even after I have worked on it for a little bit say alot about the current system. Like the saying goes if it isn't broken don't fix it, and well currently it ain't working so it must be broken.

As for weekly reports I wouldn't say so I'm sure both Tom and the Development will want to know which pages have been updated so they can quickly go to read and verify or tell us to amend it than it sit there possibly flawed and derping people. It also shows the activity of the wiki team when it comes to keeping them on the team. The weekly report is only for the Wiki Team Head to give to Tom/Dev Team. Other than that the wiki team can collaborate among one another on Irc. to work on keeping the wiki up to date and ensure it's fluidity.

And even look at the wiki forum it's empty where as members of the wiki team can make consistent posts updating the player as a whole on a active basis on the updates made.

Furthermore selection of members of the wiki team can be hashed out once this proposal is approved or in the end game denied and we all go back to doing what we do.
